Masks are required at all times except during class itself while active. The instructors keep things fun with black light classes, donations classes for Alzheimer's research and breast cancer funding, and fun playlists during class. I feel very safe coming to Shred, and I come 3-4 times a week. Exercising is essential to keeping healthy during this strange time, and I'm so happy to have found a positive, responsible studio.

However, that changed when I went to Powell Fitness and started training with Anthony Castore. It's not a sweaty, smelly, crowded gym with scantily clad women and perfectly coifed muscle head men who grunt. It's a very nice atmosphere with trainers and clients that are all very nice and friendly. It's clean and comfy. Anthony is the best. He is a bodybuilder but actually has a personality, a sense of humor, and he's kind. Kind is a major factor. He really wants you to get stronger and more confident. He's very knowledgable and the complete opposite of conceded and arrogant. He will sit down with you and actually WRITE stuff down about you on a piece of paper and uses a pen.Yeah, marinate on that for a minute. I live in Westerville and it's worth the drive to go to Powell Fitness. Especially if you're going to train with Anthony.

Great facility (they'll open up the garage doors in the summer for a nice breeze), great equipment, and great environment. It's never very busy. People are respectful. Nice layout. Three squat racks, free weights up to 100 lbs., and lots of machines. Only issue I've ever had is that one of the stair masters doesn't work. It's hardly a complaint given that I have never had a problem with getting on the other one.

It has been an amazing experience. The classes are limited to 10 people so you can expect loads of personal attention. The gym has all of the equipment necessary for an effective workout (variety of weights, kettlebells, and machines). Elizabeth is always giving feedback on correct form and provides modifications for beginners like me. But don't worry - she gives a great workout at any fitness level! She motivates with positivity and knows just when to push you to the next level. I honestly feel stronger and healthier since beginning a couple months ago. I've heard from others that Elizabeth's husband, John, is an amazing one-on-one personal trainer as well. Check them out - you won't regret it!

Very reasonably priced, and the class times work with any work schedule. Definitely try it out! I recently moved to Pittsburgh and wish I could take this class and trainers with me, but at least I can take some of the things they taught me to make my own workouts for a while!
