The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.

A little trip back to the '80s!…read more San Franciscan in Torrance feels like stepping into an old-school '80s steakhouse--small, dark, cozy, and nostalgic. Definitely make a reservation! The steak was great, especially for the price, and their house-made ranch was SO good. We also tried the fried zucchini, which was just okay, and the calamari sticks, which honestly reminded us more of fish sticks than calamari. Overall, a fun throwback spot with good steaks, reasonable prices, and lots of old-school charm!

This place is a whole time machine with a side of prime rib. The moment you walk in, you're…read morebasically transported straight into a 1960s steak‑house fever dream, house real steak houses set the tone and pace for the trend to follow, dark lighting, deep red booths, and that "your grandpa probably proposed to your grandma in a place that looked exactly like this" energy. It's nostalgic, cozy, classy and proudly old‑school in the best possible way. Cause I'm an "old school" kind of person! Let's talk about the food (aka: The Reason They've Been Voted Best Steakhouse 13 Years Straight) Let's talk about the the star of the show, Diamond Jim Cut -- 19oz of prime rib glory. Medium, juicy, tender, and so perfectly seasoned it felt like the chef whispered affirmations to it before plating. This thing didn't just sit on the plate, it posed and winked at me. It had main‑character energy. Honestly, the steak looked at me like, "You sure you're ready for this?" Respectfully, I was not... but I still finished it like a champion. Everything else? Straight hits: * Prime Rib Special, classic, comforting, and exactly what a 1960s steakhouse should taste like. * Grilled Jumbo Shrimp, big enough to file taxes. So delicious! * Sautéed Mushrooms, wow...wow...wow, buttery, earthy, and the perfect sidekick to the prime rib. * New England Clam Chowder, so creamy, hearty, and not shy with the clams. Love it! * Shrimp Cocktail, very classy and retro, refreshing, and served like it's still 1969 (in a good way). Super delicious! The service here is chef's‑kiss classic. Truly excellent and the staff, very warm, attentive, and smooth, the kind where the staff checks in just enough to make you feel taken care of but never interrupts your prime‑rib spiritual experience. Plates come out hot, drinks land quickly, and everyone moves with that confident rhythm of a team that's been doing this for decades. Super big thanks for all that you do! This place has that retro steakhouse charm that feels like stepping into a vintage movie set. Dark wood, red leather, dim lights, and a vibe that says, "Order a martini and talk about business you don't actually have." It's cozy, nostalgic, and honestly refreshing in a world full of neon‑lit modern restaurants. At one point, the Diamond Jim Cut was so massive I considered calling for backup. I swear the prime rib looked at me like, "Buddy... this is a commitment." The jumbo shrimp were so big I almost asked them what gym they go to. And the clam chowder? Thick enough to patch drywall. San Franciscan is a South Bay legend for a reason, amazing 13 years of "Best Steakhouse" isn't luck. It's the food, the service, the old‑school charm, and the fact that they deliver exactly what a classic steakhouse should: big flavors, big portions, and a big nostalgic vibe that hits every time. We will definitely be revisiting here in the near future. What a great place! Miguel C.

Happy Hour all night on Mondays only as well as until Until 8 PM all those other days in a full week (Tuesday through Sunday). They have karaoke nights, drag shows, drag bingo, game/trivia nights, leather nights, special events like the one I attended, plus more! Bar seating, table seating (tall tables) and patio seating with some great lighting. TVs, KJs and DJs, cool sound system and gender neutral restrooms. The only queer bar in all of Los Angeles Counties, South Bay area and it's a good one! Love the bar staff we met including my pal Nick (one of the KJs), Erick (crazy kind and handsome bartender) and Miss Georgia Line (one of the incredible owners and performers). Drinks are delicious and reasonable. They also have snacks like chips or candy for sale. Artesia Bar is local to a lot, including a few walkable eateries for a bigger meal before, after or returning to the bar. The crowd shifts as the night goes on, more people trickling in after 9pm and beyond. I did come here once many years ago before newer ownership (2024 to present), but it didn't leave quite the impression like it has in more recent times. Great place to celebrate the start of pride season. All inclusive, that includes allies! If you'd like to inquire about events or book an event you can email them at ArtesiaBar.RB@gmail.com. Frequent updates on their social media, Facebook and Instagram. Sashay in to this fun time den.

Bar 104 (ten four) is closer to a Japanese style Hostess Bar which caters to single men or group of…read moremen. This is a place where men can come to make small social talk, unwind and be entertained by the bar ladies who will make jokes, tell funny stories, up men's egos to create a welcoming environment. All the male guest must do is to buy the ladies a drink which for our group of 4 ran to $16 or $4/person. Maybe the ladies took pity on us since we didn't look like HUGE BALLERS. Women are welcome, but most will find it boring since this kind of business does not specifically meet the needs of heterosexual women. Ladies who come with their boyfriends or husbands may feel that the bar hostesses are trying to steal their man although that is probably not the case since it is the function of the hostesses to please their male customers. We sat & drank around the bar where the hostesses seem to hover around the most. I noticed that the guests on sofas away from the bar are left more alone to congregate with their own group. So if you want to party in with your own posse, this may be a better space. Seating at the bar is $10 cover while the sofas are $20 per person. There is Karaokè (kah rah oh keh) with Japanese and English language songs. We sang a few to while away our stay when we took a break from talking with the hotesses who circulate from time to time to different guests. Bar 104 may be of more interest to people who enjoy Japanese language, culture, "traditional hostess bar environment", or are at least open to international, cultural influences. If you can't suspend American mores, political correctness, my way or the highway approach, 104 may not be for you since 104 seems to be an enclave that follows the beat of a different drummer. I found 104 to be a fun night out with the boys. The hostesses were cordial, fun, tastefully catering to our needs at the same time exacting a reasonable fee. Shōchū/Japanese low octane "vodka", Sakè (sah keh), Beer, Wine available. Fair trade, fair exchange. 4 Yelp stars.

With new ownership comes an affiliated new crowd coinciding w/ old crowd. You could cut the tension in the air w/ someone's pocket knife because you just felt at least one person was packing. I never felt the need to look over my shoulder regularly thru the night til now. Territorial is an understatement. It could be your first visit, and you could tell two different groups were there. Service was disappointing. A customer is a customer, but I noticed new ownership neglected old crowd to tend to her crowd or anything else to keep her "busy." Meanwhile, original bartenders were bending over backwards for everybody. We, in the old crowd, are familiar enough w/ each other for some small talk at the bar while waiting for drinks. They were as confused and shocked as I was about the service. I don't even want to mention what I saw in owner/staff interactions, but I'ma just leave it at sad. It was just sad. I'm not a regular regular, but Southland was the spot for my friends and me when we wanted a night out together for past couple years. Now, we're back to bar-hopping for a new spot because The Alley Bar ain't it. I'd give her benefit-of-the-doubt because she just picked up the place, but benefit would imply I saw an effort in keeping old crowd loyal while inviting new life, too--yeah, no benefit here. R.I.P. Southland, thanks for all the fun.
