She walked me through everything, made recommendations, and even recommended a few things that I needed and hadn't even thought about. Between her and the girl at the front, I definitely felt very well taken care of. I would highly recommend solely because of these two individuals. It's been around for as long as I can remember, and until I walked in recently had no idea it was still in business. Specifically, it's a purveyor of used books: I spent a good 15 minutes browsing and I couldn't find a single book published in the last 5 years. (Many of the dusty yellowing tomes appear to be from before I was born.) It seems like a good place to find old magazines and discontinued mass market paperbacks, particularly in the sci-fi/fantasy genre. In terms of ambience and decor, it's really less of a bookstore than an uncle's basement man cave which has been converted into a walk-in storage unit for forgotten books that have spent years soaking up the cigarette smoke of the owner, who in all fairness seems nice enough. There's a very worn armchair in the backroom if you need to sit down. If you're a commuter, you won't ever notice this bookstore unless the door is open and a cardboard box of paperbacks is sitting on a folding table outside. Only cash and check are accepted, though it's not entirely clear how the place generates enough revenue to stay in business.

She said that she did and went to get a tin from behind the counter. The whole time she kept saying that she didn't really know that much about coins but proceeded to pull out some of the larger coins for us to view. My husband chose two of the $1.00 coins she showed him and some small change. After looking them up on her phone, she told us $40.00 for the 1900 dollar and then said $150.00 for everything he had chosen to purchase. The second coin was dated 1797 Trade dollar. When we got home the next day, I looked them up for him to check the values. My first clue was when I could only find "Trade dollars" minted in the 1800's. I then dug deeper and found out that it was a fake. After reading information on them, it was suggested to put a magnet to it to see if it stuck. Well, it did! I immediately checked the 1900 coin also. Guess what? Fake also. Lesson learned for $150.00 is always carry a magnet with us and have the equipment you need to verify what you have in your hand. I'm just glad we didn't get taken for any more than we did. Buyer beware is the right phrase for this shop!

Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. We wanted to get Diyas and dropped by this place as we had parked close by to go to a different restaurant. The place looked full of great collections and I pulled out my phone to click some pics for while my wife was busy looking out for the diyas. I was then intercepted by a guy in his 40's (probably the owner) who asked not to take pics in a stern voice and I politely responded that it was only for review purpose and stopped taking any more pics. But he was kind enough to direct us to the diyas that we came out to purchase and we were ready for checkout. Since the purchase amount was only $5 we were asked to pay cash as they don't take credit cards for lesser amounts. I'm not a cash person usually but luckily my wallet saved me from an embarrassment that day and I was able to pay and move out. It's totally fine for a store to have certain policies to protect their businesses but it's also important that they make it pronounced to their customers through notices or posters within the shop or the doorstep.
