PROS: This is a nice antique store that has a kind staff member working here and a strong variety of items. The vendors who rent out the real estate also price things at market value rather than above, like usual CONS: The place isn't as big as other antique malls so if youre the type of person that likes to spend the entire day in one, this won't consume that much time OVERALL: This is surely a place to hit for antique lovers that are looking for market price items. I don't suggest resellers to come here read more

Vinyl is way over priced. The display by the door everything is twice what its priced elsewhere. Saw records for $30 that i saw in better condition at Jacks in Red Bank for 1/3 the price. If you want to pay 3X the price aomething should be for worse condition, have at it! Otherwise go to Jacks, Vinyl King, Station One or anywhere else. read more

Racist shriveled up front desk lady. Orange frizzy hair. Doesn't like black or brown ppl. I walked in, said hello....she ignored me. Then I said aloud: I don't like the vibes in here and started to walk out....she groaned immediately go around the corner to the other vintage store much nicer ppl way cooler stuff read more

Went into town specifically to go to the antique shop. Both the website and sign on door said it opens at 11:30. Well it was still closed at 12:00 so just left. Terrible way to run a business. read more

Every year after the holidays and weeks (or maybe just days) of shopping for everyone else in my life, I tend to go on a mini shopping spree for myself... usually in all of my favorite vintage shops. I popped in here and the place was just a bit buzzing, and I always somehow forget how many cool pieces they have. With every case, table, wall and stand filled with amazing pieces, you'll be wandering around for quite some time, I needed to do two loops this last trip just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I was on the hunt for something kind of specific, and since a lot of their jewelry is behind cases, I needed to bother the man behind the counter quite a bit. He was incredibly friendly and never made it seem like a bother, no matter how many different times I wandered up and asked to see something. I never felt rushed to put it back in the case or make a purchase, even with all of the other customers in the store. Loved that. After being tempted to buy several rings that were too small for me and a super cool lamp and also lots of costume gold earrings, I decided to treat myself to a new leather bag. Stop in here! But only if you have the time because you will get lost and then you'll look up from your vintage haul and realize it's been two hours... you've been warned. read more

One of our favorite shops to pop into when visiting the town's Main Street. Lots of fun finds and a wonderful staff

Terrible service. We walked in to look in the store as the sign said it was open and the gentleman at the front was extremely rude and told us we couldn't just walk in. The sign said open at 11:30, the door was unlocked and we walked in at 11:50. If the closed sign was there it would've been a different story. read more

The staff is always super friendly and there is a bounty of exciting new discoveries every time I visit. I rarely leave there empty handed!

This man (one of their sales man) seemed to be nice only for white customers. I saw this man treated asian customers like a crap. That's not nice. These Asian customers wanted to see something in a glass cabinet but this man didn't want to show them. He even locked the cabinet door so that they can't steal things from it. That's totally wrong. I will never ever shop from them again. I was so sad to see this Asian customer left the store with sad face. I hate to see people discriminate. Thanks for ruining my weekend. I'm so upset. read more

Elysium Antiques - Antiques Near Me - Somerville, New Jersey

This place is PACKED with a huge assortment of treasures. I can and literally did spend over an hour looking around, and then circling back and looking again! The shop is set up in sections were different vendors display their products, so if you happen to trend toward a particular style, its usually contained to the same area. There is truly a variety here, and even not knowing what you're looking for, I'm sure you can find something interesting. I came here specially shopping for a specific item, which I had been looking for in other shops. Even including brand new items, I could not find what I was looking for until I came here. I guess you can probably just as easily NOT find it, but come back next week and maybe you'll find it then since they are always getting more stuff. The shop is certainly not the biggest, but it holds so much. The staff was really helpful and kind, and they'll hold your item until the seller gets back to you. The man working there even helped me carry my item to my car which was not necessary but a very nice gesture. If you're getting something large, I believe there is a parking lot out back that you can load/unload. I will definitely be back when I'm looking for that special something! read more

Some quality and interesting items- furniture, lighting, and architectural salvage pieces. Lots of vintage clothing (not my thing). The place is small but likely has more quality items in this one little place than the rest of the shops in Somerville combined. Look closely in the locked cases......there are some interesting things. There is a garage section out back. It looks like an episode of "Hoarders" but without the animal feces ( I love that show). The owners are helpful and friendly. The 4 stars is a relative ranking. If in a real antique mecca, I'd give it 2 stars on merchandise but still 4 for the owners. Since this is NJ, 4 stars is accurate. read more

If you are in Somerville stroll thru this smaller shop. It has about 10 vendors who share the space. Quite a bit of vintage clothing, accessories and costume jewelry but also some nice china, glass and furniture. I plan to come back and browse-some crystal caught my eye but i was out of cash. Too bad. read more

BAIT AND SWITCH!!! I'm sure there are some decent things in the store, and the only reason I went was someone had posted a Harptone guitar for sale, with a price of $275. I called the person, and saved the photos and cover photo with the description, and he said he could meet me at the Starbucks down the street. I went there in the morning and called, and he said he thought I would be coming later, and that the guitar was in Elysium Antiques down the street which didn't open until 11. I said okay, and that I would head down and check it out. It looked good and seemed like a good buy. This particular model sells for around $750 when 100% original and no issues. I got there, and waited until the kid opened the door at a few minutes after, and he seemed like a nice guy. I asked about the guitar and he got it. I saw it wasn't tuned to pitch, so I tuned it to pitch and the action of course was a mile high. The bridge had been sanded, and it was missing a marker on the bridge. I also tapped it and it sounded like at least 1 brace was loose. I figured that's okay. Not that great a deal, but I could put $300 into it and have a decent 12 string, but not original. The guy there said $750. I told him I had just saw it on craigslist and spoke with the owner just that morning and the night before, and he said "I know the owner personally, and he would never, ever sell this guitar for that price". I said, well it was out there, but I see it was just deleted. He said "It must be someone else because he wouldn't part with it for less than $600. (It went down a little). I called the number and told the guy I was at the shop, and that I had $340 on me, and the guitar had issues, and it would no longer be a good buy, but I already lost my morning, and he said he would call and straighten it out. The phone rang at the shop, and the guy at the counter talked with him for a few minutes and kept saying "okay...whatever you want to do...I don't care." eventually telling me "$500". I said "No thanks" and left. It's simply a take on the old bait and switch. They get you in there at 1 price and try and raise it. I had noticed a Roseville vase in the window that I could purchase for $75 elsewhere that they were asking for $250, so should have realized then what I was up against. So beware. The place is very overpriced. The rest of the town looks pretty nice, so if you want to check out other places on Main Street, go ahead. But skip this place. Overpriced, unfriendly, and unscrupulous tactics. I feel bad if there are other vendors in the store who are not like that, but this was a total rip off, costing me gas, wear and tear, tolls, money for coffee etc I didn't need, and 3 hours of my time. read more

Elysium Antiques is also another one of my favorite Antiques Stores. They have a good selection of period pieces, primitives, unusual pieces that you could only find here. When I'm working for a fun client, I will always find most of my pieces at Elysium. All the best designers in the tri state area know about this place. I would highly recommend coming to Elysium Antiques. There's also a few great restaurants and pubs around. read more

This is one of the worst antique/thrift stores I've ever been to. Usually thrift stores have really a homely feeling but the people who worked here were very rude. I didn't end up getting anything today because I didn't have enough money, but I said thank you when I left. The person looked straight at me and rolled his eyes. My review seems to correlate with another's review here too who saw the man being racist. I'm an Asian American and the guy treated me horribly. I'm never coming here again- overpriced and racist. I'd give this store zero stars if I could. read more

The buying at this store is amazing and the staff is always very helpful. They seem to know a lot about what they sell, and are always happy to stop what they are doing and show you anything they think you may like. I have been here many times and never walk out empty handed or disappointed! read more

I Love going to Elysium Antiques! You NEVER know what you will find. The one thing that I know you will find is a TRULY Friendly Atmosphere! I am an African American/ Honduran, & I have NEVER been mistreated, or seen anyone one else being mistreated! I read the review from 1 of the suppose customer, & stated that because they are Asian They were mistreated? I do go in that store a lot, (I do not always buy), & have never seen anyone being mistreated! Even when the customer is being Nasty, the owners are always courteous, & polite, because we are all different in Culture, or Origin, but we are all human beings! Sometimes you get what you give in life! Some people no matter what you do you can not make them happy! I live my life that I treat people the way I what to be treated. I like going into Elysium, because they do NOT look at me, because of my color, or sexual preference! They treat me as an equal. I think the woman that owns it is from Spain, & I think her husband is Italian,& mixed something else! They always greet you with a Hello when you walk in, & thanks for coming, or have a nice day when you leave! No matter if you are buying are not. Who knows you may buy next time you come in, or not, but it is not always about money! I think they like educating customers by sharing their knowledge, & explaining the items in the store that the dealers have for sale! Don't take my word for it, or 1 unhappy person who is probably not happy with them self! Do yourself a favor, and go see for yourself what a GREAT bunch of people work, & the nice dealers that sell there! You may get lucky, & find that hidden treasure!! read more

I just bought 3 supposed gold coins. I questioned the authenticity and the owners said they would find out more while i had dinner and would return in an hour. When i came back, i was told that they were real and worth quite a bit of money. I made the purchase and went around the corner to have them tested. They are not only forgeries, but not even gold. The owner would not refund my money. Who would do business like this? Not offer refunds when you knowingly defraud a customer? Not only will i file a police report in the morning, but i am also going to contact the state about there business practices and selling forgeries. Please if you go here, dont ever listen to the bs told to you by the owner or the staff. I will have a lawsuit against them by next week read more
