Good price for what you get. And extremely friendly staff. The restaurant is a bit sparce but honestly the food makes up for it.

The candied club was delicious - you can get it with crispy or grilled chicken and it comes with candied bacon, lettuce, tomato and red onions but you can customize it your liking. My husband got the fuhgeddaboutit which was with salami, capacollo and prosciutto. If you get the candied club, you don't have to wait in line. You can go straight to the cash since that's their best seller. It's mostly a take out place so there isn't much of a place to sit but they did have two picnic tables outside. A great Ottawa gem!

It's tucked away in an industrial part of town, but those who know know they make incredible sandwiches. Their Candied Bacon Club is their most popular sandwich. Prices have gone up over the years. It's currently $11 (as of June 2024). You can get the chicken grilled or breaded. It's real chicken breast meat and is delicious with the sweet candied bacon. My only complaint is they are too generous with the sauce, so the sandwich is a little too wet and messy. You can choose your bread. The Jalapeno Cheddar is the best, IMO. However, Italian Herb seems to be the most popular. They also have rotating special sandwiches. The Honey Tender ($11) is great. It's chicken tenders dipped in a honey hot sauce with pickles and lettuce. It's also really saucy and messy to eat, lol. You can also build your own deli sandwich for $10. You choose the bread, up to 3 meats, and a cheese. They have a list of toppings you can choose, as well as different dressings. Service is courteous and efficient. Even though there is always a long line up. The line moves fast. There are a few seats along the window to eat in but pretty much everyone just gets takeout. If you eat in, you will have a constant stream of people lining up next to you, lol. The sandwich shop is in a little plaza and there are some picnic tables near the parking lot. If you have to eat on-site, I'd recommend eating at the picnic tables or in your car ;) Lots of free parking available in the plaza parking lot. If you like sandwiches and you're able to make it out to Antares Drive on a weekday (they are closed on weekends) between 10am and 3pm (their business hours), I recommend giving this place a try. I don't live or work in the area anymore, so their limited hours make it hard for me to go there. Otherwise, I'd be there often. (128)

The kids picked at the mac and cheese and said it was "alright" but they were in love with the baguette that came with the soup. Service was so patient while we decided what we were ordering. I don't frequent Panera often, so the menu was super overwhelming. The garden caprese sandwich was SO SO SO GOOD! The bread was fresh, chewy and warm. I loooooooooooved the sauce combination of Italian dressing and and garlic aioli. Restaurant was cozy and relaxing.

Di Rienzo's is a small deli tucked away in Ottawa's little Italy neighborhood but trust me it's no secret. There's always a line of the well informed, salivating with a grin as they wait (not long mind you, they move fast). The smell here is your first clue that your in for somethings delicious, if you weren't hungry when you arrived you will be once the aroma hits your nostrils. They have a selection of Italian pre-packaged products and various snacks, as well as cold drinks to complete your meal. That said, this joint is all about the sandwiches. They'll make whatever combo of meats, cheese, and toppings you want but if your unsure just pick one of the options on the board. I almost always get the #14. It's all the delicious Italian meats you could want plus havarti, lettuce, and mayo (exchange the regular havarti for the herbed havarti if you'd like). The bread is amazing quality as well. You really can't go wrong here. They have some sandwiches in a case ready to go as well, such as the steak which I hear is amazing. The staff here couldn't be more friendly and accommodating which is no small feat for a place this busy. There are no tables so it's takeout only and It IS cash only however they have an ATM for the unprepared. Oh, lest I forget, this amazing and quality sandwich is less than 10 bucks! This spot is a real gem and if you find yourself nearby you absolutely have to try it out.

The Long Version: District Deli opened up around March 2025 in the space that was Bismallah Pies (was Charlie's Groceteria before that). My husband and I dropped by to pick up a sandwich to share. The sandwiches are all named after nearby streets, which really gives it that neighbourhood feel. All meat sandwiches are $13.99 and vegetarian sandwiches are $12.49. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The sandwich was really good. The bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but this is in comparison to other similar sandwich shops with $8-10 sandwiches (like 50 Two Sandwiches or Shorty's Sandwiches), but they are in industrial parts of town, so I get it, rent in Hintonburg is higher. The food is high quality - often locally sourced and organic. Dahl soup was tasty, with just a hint of heat from the spice. Chicken taco filling was tasty but... and I think this is where I'm struggling... I am realizing that I really don't like soft tacos. Something about the texture of the taco itself puts me off. I'm sitting here trying to decide if I'm being fair giving them a three because of my preference for taco shells. I guess what I'm saying is: take my review with a (proverbial) grain of salt. Would love to see a garbage can and recycling bin put out. Since they are located on the UOttawa campus during school year, plan to bus/walk to get there. (Parking is a pain during the week.) If you get off at Campus Station 2B, Sweetpea (the truck) is really close by. (Don't take my word for it though - things change, so make sure you check on that.) Staff was great. They have 2 tables and about 6 chairs for people who want to sit and eat for a bit. Would I return: Yes. I'd love to go again when it's not Taco Thursday, to try to get a different menu item. Would I recommend: Yup - if you like healthy choices that are locally sourced and organic, this is a great option.
