They also have fries, with gravy, which is always a go to. A quick, efficient drive-thru, or eat inside. I don't know if I've ever been to Shorty's and *not* gotten a hot dog. Two with ketchup and onion, small fries with gravy, and a large soda. I can't even remember the last time I looked at the menu. It's just automatic. Quick in and out, easy, and reliable. I'm not sure what else needs to be said. read more

Shorty's has been a Washington County favorite for many years. I have been eating here since I was a small child. The food is simple, but great. I always order a hot dog with everything, which consists of chili, mustard and onion, along with a fry with gravy. I prefer this location over the Chestnut street location due to the availability of seating. Don't get me wrong, I will eat at both regardless though! There is also a drive thru at this location. read more

Shorty's Lunch - Hot dog with "everything" and fries with gravy - American Near Me - Washington, Pennsylvania

Very limited menu, really no healthy options. They are "know for their hotdogs" but it tasted like a normal dog to me. The only positive thing I can really say is at least it's inexpensive. read more

Went to try this after 10 years since it's a Washington institution..... and nope. This location is much cleaner than the run down dump in downtown Washington. Walked in to see the usual rif raff that hangs in dirty parts of Washington. I ordered 2 hotdogs with everything and fries with gravy. The hot dogs were sour with cheap ingredients. The fries were ok with descent salty brown gravy. I guess if your from Washington, you wouldn't know the difference between good and bad food so they say it's great because they live here. read more

A favorite of the locals. Decent hot dogs nothing else is worth anything to speak of. The hot dogs come with a watery chili and dehydrated onion. The have fries with gravy which some love but I don't care for. Hamburgers are not good. Very fast service. read more

When we go to visit our grandparents, it isn't a trip until we've stopped into Shorty's. Love it. But what is with the gravy on the fries?!

There is just something about these hotdogs that make me go crazy. They have a one of a kind taste and I take up any opportunity to go there (I don't care if we go to the one on W. Chesnut or in Wolfdale, both are amazing) read more

Extremely Fast service Great Hot Dogs and their fries and gravy is awesome! Been going for years and will keep going!

Little hole in the wall. They don't have cheese- fair warning. Although they are know for their hot dogs- they aren't my favorite. I Iove their hot roast beef and of course fries with gravy. read more

Hands down just continues to be the best hot dogs in the area! Fast and friendly service and you absolutely have to try their meat sauce it is fantastic, get 2 or 3 with everything and don't forget the fries and gravy read more

Shorty's is a legend. It is a landmark and a tribute to the family which has owned and operated it for decades. My father and my grandfathers were fans. My dad used to say that the flavor of the hotdogs was "enhanced" by the fact that the cook lined up the dogs in their buns along his forearm as he applied the condiments. Is it gourmet? Heavens, no. Is it a great place for a hot dog? You bet! read more

It's a decent quick lunch, and but frankly not worth what the tab amounted to. The dogs are good, crisp break on them, although a little on the small side. The chili sauce is scant and really flavorless. The fries were good and crisp, but the gravy wasn't really as good as some rave about. They would have been better with ketchup instead of the bland gravy. That being said, I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again. I visited the location on rt844 heading out of washington. read more

I've eaten here twice. Once back in 2007 before my wife and I moved down south (where I'm from). My wife is from the area and boasted about their food. The first time I had a chicken sandwich, which was obviously a frozen patty between two hamburger buns. The whole 7 years we spent in Arkansas, she talked about how she missed it. We moved back recently and my wife convinced me that I had to try their hot dogs because that's what their known for. So, I decided to give them another chance. I had high hopes that I was going to love this place, seeing as how it's a favorite for the locals. So, I ordered two dogs with everything and fries with gravy on the side and my wife ordered the same. You know, the real Shorty's experience. Upon receiving my food I was extremely skeptical. The chilli, what little of it there was, was very bland and reminded me of canned dog food. Nothing like the hearty chilli we have down south. The onions were chopped to death, some what like the dehydrated onions you would find on a McDonald's burger. The hot dog was edible, the bun, nice and soft. I was extremely confused as to why everyone raved about them. Then the fries. They were cooked nicely. Just the way I liked them so I really wanted to love them. They seemed to have absolutely no flavor. Maybe the gravy would help? Nope. The gravy tasted like it came from a packet, way too salty and just plain sad. I'm not sure if it's just a cultural difference. I really wanted to love this place. I mean absolutely no disrespect, this is just my outsider opinion. I feel like I can make a better dog at home. The prices are cheap and the atmosphere is friendly. It's just not for me. read more

Washington mall closed. Shorty's lunch has 2 open locations including the chestnut st location open since the 1930s.

Always love going to this local favorite. Quick service and good food always keeps me coming back.

Great family friendly restaurant. Nobody does hotdogs like Shorty's. The gravy fries are great too. Simple good food!
