I stopped by here a couple of Thursday's ago for an afternoon snack. Our neighborhood has food trucks come to it every other Thursday and this Thursday happened to be Hott Dawgs. This "food truck" is actually more of a food trailer that is pulled by a pickup truck. On the day that we visited it there were two gentlemen inside working it and they had a window on the front to order from and then a window on the side to pick up from. Since I knew I didn't want hot dogs alone to be my dinner this night, I went in with the mindset that I was only getting one. This actually made things difficult since there were a number of different options on the menu which all sounded really good. Ultimately I decided on the Buffalo blue which consisted of blue cheese, Buffalo sauce and scallions. At $6 it wasn't a cheap hot dog but that's about what I would expect to pay for a gourmet dog. After a couple of minutes my food was ready and I ended up taking it back to my house in order to eat it. The first thing that I noticed on eating it was that it was a good hot dog. Not like that crap you get from fast casual places, but an all beef dog. The bun here was pretty good too as it was soft and held all of the ingredients without falling apart. Last but not least, the toppings were all good. I mean Buffalo sauce, blue cheese and scallions are a classic combo and worked well on the hot dog. Overall I ended up enjoying it and thought that it was a good snack. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I enjoyed the food that I had and would be interested in trying some of their other flavors like the BBQ pulled pork and slaw.

Why doesn't this place have more reviews? Seriously? With all the festivals recently in the downtown Pittsburgh region it was hard not to bump into this place. Some people might just walk by, but not me. What drew me in was the fact that they had all their menu items made up on a table, taking out the guess work whether you would like it or not. It made me think I was at a picnic. After staring at the table and salivating for several minutes I knew I had to try the Burgh Way Dawg. Thought this should be the way to go while I was walking the streets of the Burgh. A quarter pound hot dog topped with what you would expect from a Burgh inspired hot dog. Fresh cut fries and slaw, but with one added twist, pastrami. A tip for you, ask for a fork. Unless you have a big mouth, and I don't mean being loud, this thing will not fit. Especially since it is served to you on a nice sized Breadworks bun. This thing definitely taught me one thing that day, my eyes truly were bigger than my stomach. I could not finish this thing, try as I might. It was a sad day for me and my hot dog loving ways. I literally picked at this thing until I could no longer take another bite. I didn't let that deter me, because I ended up back here later for another bite to eat. However this time around I ended up getting the fried pickles. These were delicious and I made myself finish them. The spicy onion dipping sauce that goes with this was a nice addition to the flavors already there. Let me tell you about the staff. They were passionate about their food. I was discussing the different dogs to be had and the staff each had their own favorites. It was like a competition to them to try and convince you to pick their favorites. They were dedicated in here as well, almost everything was made fresh. Each time something had to be made fresh they were apologizing. Hey, no need to apologize, I actually appreciate this, freshness is best.

Some interesting styles of Hot Dawgz with a 6 oz Nathans Dog on a Breadworks bun. Good Stuff! Check out the menu. Decided to go with the Burgh since it has Pastrami with slaw and fries. It is a real mouthful. Really enjoyed the Dawg and the slaw but the pastrami was overwhelmed by all the other flavors. The fried pickles with a Blooming Onion Sauce was good too.

Great selection of hot dogs - 1/4 lb Nathans hot dogs. Tried the Courtney because it was over the top different. It was a bacon wrapped dog with macaroni & cheese & BBQ sauce. So very good, but grab a fork too! Hubby tried the Our Way (pulled pork & slaw) which he loved; also had the New York (spicy brown mustard, onions & kraut). He wasn't as much of fan of this one. Got an order of fries too. Would definitely recommend this food truck for any of the festivals.

Worth every penny! Multiple toppings and a ton of sauces to choose from. Their avocado salsa is delicious! Cannot wait until the next time.

We asked if each taco was $3 and she said no, that an order came with 3. So we got two orders. And somehow the price was $21!? For 6 tacos!? They were the mini ones with just meat. No cheese, nothing fancy. We got a burrito, for $9! My SO said it was delicious but it was definitely not Worth $9 for just a burrito. I don't know if this is just how food trucks are? And the food was delicious! Which makes me sad that we would be taken advantage of when the food is actually good. But why go back to a place where I got over charged and lied to?? I wanted to say something but my SO didn't want to make a scene. For a a quesadilla it was $9 too. Delicious but damn expensive. $50 was our total and I thought it was crazy high. And the combo of 3 tacos and the "soup" was $11. The soup was more of a broth to dip your tacos in. I don't know if I will go back. She was super nice to all the customers after us but seemed annoyed with us. I included a pic of the bill.

We were told it was going to be ready in 15/20 mins and as soon as we pulled up it was being bagged We got their alligator fritters, beef empanadas, gator tacos and an oreo cream funnel cake. Y'all everything was so good. My fiancée absolutely loved his gator fritters and devoured them. The beef empanadas were filled with beef, corn and cheese. They were so good and loved the seasoning on the empanada. The gator tacos were the perfect size, the gator had a nice crunch and the slaw added another level to the taco. The funnel cake hit the spot. Cannot wait to check out their new location when it opens and both of us agreed that we will be back.

Street parking available. This is more of a takeout place but there are tables inside. Now for the food! My coworker and I had chicken tacos, the gator po boy, and the chicken and funnel cake. The chicken tacos were on special for taco tuesday so they were $2 each which was a great price. They were filled with chicken and toppings but the meat was a little dry, and I think a sauce, like a chipotle mayo or something, could really make these pop! These were our least favorite part of lunch, but they were still good, I really liked the salsa. I used to work at a southern restaurant that served gator sandwiches, so I was super happy to see alligator on the menu! The gator po boy was delicious! It came with a spicy mayo. The gator bites were seasoned well and the bun was super soft and fresh. I wasn't crazy about the chips that came with it though. The chicken and funnel cake was the standout- think chicken and waffles but better! The chicken was awesome and the funnel cake was super sweet! I wish it came with like a spicy syrup or something. Nonetheless, everything was delicious and I will definitely be back, this is an awesome addition to downtown Washington!!!
