Chicken salad on grilled wheat. My own hot honey is peaking out at you

Shorty's doesn't come up short. Everything has been amazing. Hot pastrami on grilled dark rye with Swiss and thousand island was mouth watering. Chicken salad on grilled wheat almost perfect (see pic - I have my own hot honey that I add when I get back to work). The prime rib sandwich was fantastic. Owners are personable and appear to be passionate about their business. Don't forget the homemade giant cookies. They're all great. Go with friends and split a bunch of sandwiches. This review is from a guy that did the trifecta (my own name for the challenge) at Danzer's prior to that restaurants demise a few years ago. The trifecta is the Reuben, red Reuben and hamlet in one sitting (I ate in this order too which I consider good to best). These sandwiches were on the same bread as shorty's and were all whole sizes. I reached the summit and the taste was phenomenal.

Im hooked on their roast beef sandwiches. Prices are moderate. They only have two small tables so its mostly take out place.

A really good friend suggested we go on a road trip to Boonsville. (I had a college buddy come…read morefrom that town so I was aware of the town.) So off we go. It is as the name says "Awesome." It is a small store with lots of country decor plus more. Tea towels, jars of sauces, jams, a dog section, indoor or outdoor decor and the list of what you can buy goes on. We chose the in-house deli for lunch. I was more than pleased with the choice. (I saw a gentleman's sandwich and decided from there.) The deli uses Boar's Head deli meats. I got the reuben which is put together a bit differently, but that difference is what made the sandwich. They toast the bread, warm the ingredients and then put the sammy together. No greasy mess of a sandwich falling apart. It was juicy, delicious and satisfying. My only complaint is that they do not offer chips or pickles as a side with the sandwich. You can buy a bag of chips, but no pickle. Small town. There's a refrigerator with beverages and take out meals. We had a grand 'ol time driving up and back. Saw the sites that we could see. Parking is OK for the size of the place. All the staff were helpful and friendly. They have smallish shopping carts, but it seemed like most people start their collection of goodies and leave them by the register. They also have a brunch on weekends. Give it a try, enjoy the shopping, enjoy a little something from the deli.

I always support small businesses, especially in a small town like Boonville, but this was one of…read morethe worst experiences I've ever seen with a business owner. The atmosphere feels extremely hostile if you're not part of her inner circle or if you don't have money to spend. Locals know how people are treated behind the scenes, which is why many of the customers seem to come from out of town. The owner has a reputation for tearing down other small businesses instead of supporting them, and constantly copies ideas from others rather than creating anything original. Competition clearly isn't handled professionally here. Beyond that, cleanliness was a major concern. I personally noticed signs of mice and roaches in the store, which made me very uncomfortable shopping there. Some products are nice, but many can be purchased directly from the original vendors instead. Small towns thrive when businesses support each other and treat people with respect. Unfortunately, that is not the experience here.

Unfortunately, the…read moreowner's behavior completely overshadowed the food, and after giving her three chances, I won't spend my money there again. On our first visit, my 87-year-old father casually mentioned that he hadn't known the place existed. The owner responded by yelling at him about how long the business has been open and listing other places she owns, leaving him feeling embarrassed and ignorant. The final straw happened during my most recent visit. I flew in from Las Vegas and wanted to take my parents, both in their 80s, to get sandwiches. Standing for long periods is difficult for them, so they sat briefly in the dining area while I ordered. They were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. They were immediately yelled at and told they could not sit there unless they ordered from the dinner menu. My father politely explained that we were ordering sandwiches and that his daughter had just flown in. The owner said it didn't matter--if we weren't ordering off the dinner menu, we had to leave. As a result, we were forced to eat in our car in the middle of winter. Great food does not excuse disrespectful, unkind treatment--especially toward elderly customers. The lack of compassion was shocking, and I will not return.

We were greeted by Melissa, a co-owner of the establishment. Ambience was cozy, warm with nice pictures and setting on the wall and a good assortment of rock music ranging from Led Zeppelin to Fleetwood Mac. We ordered two appetizers of the steak fritters (highly recommend) and stuffed tots with bacon and cheddar (again, highly recommend). Both appetizers were incredibly delicious and would absolutely order again. Our main course consisted of a jam covered Gouda burger cooked perfectly with a side of lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles (pickles were VERY good!) and a side of FRESH CUT fries cooked perfectly! The charred bun was a nice touch. The food was a 10/10 as I can't review anything negative about it at all. Melissa did an amazing job balancing her servicing the tables as it was very busy, and made sure to constantly check in on us from time to time to make sure our water glasses were filled and if we needed anything. I give her and her staff a 10/10 for service. The ambience was great overall and was very comfortable. Music playing in the background was very romantic and settling. A great experience for a low key date spot. The owner Melissa said they offer bands sometimes on the weekends, typically a Saturday night. Melissa, if you and your husband happen to read this...keep doing what you're doing! Your food is VERY GOOD, some of the better burgers I've had in this area and your ingredients are outstanding. Was definitely happy to have had the opportunity to experience Cleveland House and we will definitely be back for more! Keep up the great work of

They have a rotating menu that they list on their website (www.saltcitybread.com). By the time I got there mid-afternoon, they were sold out of their seeded (sesame, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds) sourdough. Plain sourdough loaves are $10 and the sourdough with inclusions are market price and range from $12-14 it seems. I got their chocolate chip cookie (with flaky salt from Syracuse Salt company) for $3.25, and it was delicious!! Thick cookie with crisp edges and a soft, fluffy center. Huge chocolate chips too! The flaky salt brings a nice balance as well. Will definitely be back!

This little bakery is very cute and offers a selection of different breads as well as sweets. The service is excellent and welcoming. These people know how to do bread WELL. I have tried their italian bread, focaccia, and their braided sesame bread-- which are all phenomenal! They have some sandwiches on their menu as well as some coffee available. On this occasion we ordered: - Braided sesame bread: this is my absolute favorite bread here. The presentation is beautiful, and the bread reminds me of a more savory challah with some salted olive oil hints that remind me of focaccia. The softness of the bread and the density make it so satisfying. It is perfect with both sweet and savory pairings. Super addictive--a loaf usually does not last longer than a day in our household. - Turkey sandwiches: we got a whole sandwich split into two halves. Size is pretty generous and one half is definitely enough for one person. This sandwich, although simple, stands out for its high quality ingredients. It came with generous sliced turkey that was not too salty, delicious gouda cheese, high quality mayo, fresh tomatoes and lettuce. The white bread is made in-house and feels super fresh and fluffy. They were super nice and gave us two bags of chips to compliment our dinner even though we technically ordered only one sandwich. We got it split into two separate containers and my fiancé and I each got our own pickle! Perfect option to get to-go. - Peanut butter cookie: I initially wanted to try the chocolate chip but they sadly ran out. However this was actually an amazing cookie. The thickness was perfect, not too thick and not too thin. It had nice bits of peanut butter and the cookie itself was super buttery, soft but with a nice caramelized crust, and not too sweet. There was a surprise Reeses PB cup in there which was very pleasant. Very good cookie! Cannot wait to come back and try their chocolate chip one. Overall, this bakery is a 10/10 and a very great asset to the area. Even though their selection is limited, I think they really focus on doing the few things they do VERY well. I love how local and homey this business feels. Their baked goods are all amazing and I will continue supporting them whenever I am in Manlius. Highly recommend Salt City Bread! You will not regret it.
