We had gone in January in hope of seeing the northern lights, but sadly it was overcast and snowy the whole time. This is a "dark sky" location, so it was a bummer. The cabins are adorable. Built by the WPA in the 1930s, but completely updated with modern heating and bathrooms. There was a fireplace, a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the space was clean. There was a small fridge and a microwave. They do provide simple breakfast, lunch and dinner that is included in the stay. If you want something different, there is a restaurant in town. There is a general store if you need extra snacks, drinks, etc. And Chef Wi will make a special dinner for you if you plan ahead (costs extra). She was so kind and attentive and made us feel welcome. She called us ahead of time to be sure we were aware of the dining options. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing equipment was available at no cost. It's too far away for us to go again, but it must be incredibly beautiful in the spring and summer.

Since this was an impromptu trip and I only had a few days, I was hoping to be able to spend some time here. Luckily for me, Cabin 10 was available. The highlight of my stay was the dark sky park, which is located on this property. It was a beautiful clear night and I was able to see a million stars and view the northern lights. I absolutely love everything about this rustic gem. It's such a peaceful place to relax, recharge and enjoy nature. I hope to make it back one day.

We came up to Copper Harbor months before booking a lodge room here. Despite all the low reviews we…read morebooked here anyway. First let me address some of the "negetive" points people mentioned. Copper Harbor is miles from cell towers so service is spotty to non existent. We enjoyed the solitude of being in the wilderness without being continually bombarded with calls. The lodge is older. The rustic look takes you back to the 70s. I grew up in the 70s, so for me it was totally nostalgia. Things are showing their age, but then again, so am I. The TV only gets a few channels, but if I wanted to watch one of the hundred channels cable offers, I'd have stayed home. I was able to get the news and weather. WiFi is great if you're near the office. If you really need to be online, pull your car up to the office and have at it. We came here for a getaway from the rat race and the everyday stress that the big city offers. This is exactly what we wanted. I sat for hours on our deck watching the sun rise over the Lake Fanny Hooe. We hiked a trail that went around the lake. We even saw a waterfall. The town offers some nice shops and restaurants. We took a trip up to Brockway mountain. We even saw the northern lights for the first time. This campground/lodge is in the wilderness. You come here for a getaway. That's part of the ambiance. I think it's only fitting that the accommodations should reflect that. If you want the Embassy Suites, stay home. If you want a wilderness getaway, this might be the place for you.We were satisfied with our stay here.

Our room was on the bottom floor. We had an amazing view of Lake Fanny Hooe. Yes, the rooms are outdated, but how much time do you really spend in your room anyways? Is the expierence about your room or the area in which you are staying? The TV in our room offered limited channels, and the wi-fi is spotty at best. If you want/need good wifi then the office is the place to be. There is access to hiking trails on the property and they offer boat rentals to boat around Lake Fanny Hooe if desired. A short walk away are restaraunts, shops, a food market and Lake Superior. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. It was a nice, relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

I felt so lucky to find this motel on such short notice! Copper Harbor is very limited on places to…read morestay but I was able to book one night here right on Lake Superior! I walked out my patio door to the majestic lake of the north. Come to find out the Isle Royale Ferry Departs from this area! If I had known that ahead of time, I would have booked a trip to the isolated isle! It's on my bucket. I truly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back here one day! On a side note, the motel has been updated and it's quite charming!

We stayed two nights in mid August. The room was clean, had a small fridge. The view is what you…read morecome for. We were directly on the water and loved watching freighters off in the distance and the Island Queen setting out for the day. Each room has 2 chairs on the patio, there are also 2 docks, lots of geese. There was a young man tasked with removing the geese's mess each morning so it was kept decently clean. One night another guest caught a salmon right off the dock! The drawbacks are an awkwardly placed bathroom. My tall companion knees hit the wall using the toilet, and the area next to the tub was equally narrow. The window facing the park area has to be kept closed due to noise. I like having a window open to sleep, so was a wee bit sad at that. Both the Isle Royale ferry and Jamsen's are maybe a 2 minute walk if you're slow. Do yourself a favor and go to Jamsen's for coffee, a donut, turnover or breakfast sandwich. The coffee cake is stellar! Overall, I'd stay here again and try to not get the room next to the ice machine. (Right by the window). The wifi worked most of the time for us. Cell reception is almost non existent otherwise.
