Shoreline meets Park... It's all in the name. This cool stretch of waterfront greenery, architecture, landmarks, loungey spots and scenic views is one you should definitely take in. Located off Shoreline Drive it's home to the Long Beach Navy Memorial, Lion's Lighthouse, Aquarium of the Pacific and so many local eateries, shops and sites. We strolled about for a while having a nice leisure late morning/early afternoon before lunch on the Queen Mary. It was kind of magical to enjoy after so long especially with someone incredibly special to me. There's plenty of places to stroll, have a nice lunch and enjoy the fun. It's fresh open air with a nice breeze even when the weather is warmer. You can find shady areas throughout while overlooking the boats in the water. I didn't really grow up in Long Beach, but it was frequented with family and our family who live nearby. Even after moving away for sometime my high school prom was held at the Aquarium. I've attended many Long Beach Pride festivals and we tend to make our way over here before or after for some nice downtime. A lot of the restaurants have been enjoyed in the past as well as food trucks in the more present. And there's plenty of them, especially those snow cone trucks. It's about 12+ acres in its entirety, with plenty of parking around though limited so others can come and enjoy. It does make it a little tricky if you want to spend a good chunk of time - Pike's Outlets parking has less restrictions, but none of the parking is overnight, so be mindful of that if staying close by while visiting. I believe the max for parking garages and lots is $16 for the day. The parking along the shoreline with meters is limited to 2 hours. While the park is open 24 hours, they do typically follow most public park rules in Los Angeles county from sunrise to sunset or roughly 8am to 6pm. Basically just means no one on site after those hours, very similar to the Aquarium's hours. It's a great place to enjoy solo, with friends/chosen fam, family, someone special and anyone you want to show this historic part of Long Beach.

Shoreline Aquatic Park - Long Beach This park is such a relaxing spot with some of the best views in Long Beach. It's perfect for a peaceful walk, a picnic, or just sitting on one of the benches and watching the water. From here you get an amazing view of the Queen Mary, which makes the scenery feel really special and unique. The area is clean, safe, and great for couples, families, or even solo visitors who just want to enjoy the ocean breeze. You'll also see the harbor, cargo cranes, and plenty of boats passing by, which makes it a fun mix of city and seaside atmosphere. Highly recommend visiting at sunset for an extra beautiful experience--the Queen Mary looks even more stunning with the evening light behind it!

Known officially as the 'Shoreline Aquatic Park', this 12 acre park is located near downtown Long Beach, right next to the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Marina (where boats will take tourists on hour long excursions) , and an easy walk from the Pike shopping center and Shoreline Village. Another one of many reasons why I love living in downtown Long Beach, Shoreline park has views of Queen Mary, the Carnival Cruise Line port (who had a giant ship at port on a Tuesday). There were various ice cream carts selling their wares throughout the park. The park also includes the Lions Lighthouse (an easy navigation marker), along with a ton of grassy areas with paved walkways, places to have a picnic or just chill and watch the water. There is a small shared parking lot: $6 for 2 hours max.

We walked around the beautiful Shoreline Park after we visited the Aquarium of the Pacific. The weather was so beautiful yesterday, and we walked around the park from 5:30-6 p.m. This Shoreline Park offers some great views of the marina, the iconic Queen Mary, and the Long Beach skyline etc. There's also a lighthouse at the park. It's perfect to take a stroll, go cycling, picnic, etc.

A beautiful park so much you can do. Hubby and I took the harbor breeze boat for 45 mins for only $20 each. Walked around the park until get to the Shoreline village and ate at the yard house restaurant it was so good and ate ice cream and a cute place. It was so relaxing to walk around and do some shopping. The stores around have great souvenirs at great prices.. Recommended it if you are close to Long Beach area.

This was a nice place to visit. You can see Queen Mary ship and cruise ships. It was a nice and easy walk.

Was very busy at Mother's Day. Super close to the Aquarium. Beautiful place to bike or skate around. I recommend enjoying the waterfront, the lighthouse, and the view from the lighthouse. My recommendation to the city, please clean up the water where the boats are stationed. There is so much trash in the water that takes away from the ambiance of such a beautiful place!

How can one reach 10k-step goal in a day? Take a ride down to Shoreline, park, then go for a brisk walk. Husband and I love coming out here for a walk after brunch. Great way to soak the sun (need that vitamin D!) and see all the views of the shoreline. You can walk and talk or just go up to the lighthouse and chill. There is a walkway along the shoreline where you can enjoy the skyline of Long Beach. Here you will see the large cruise ships, the container terminals, little duckies in the water... There are many trees along the way. Bring a blanket and enjoy some shade under one of them. You can also enjoy a cold drink along the boardwalk after your walk (yes I always find an excuse for a snack) Or bring a water bottle because you will easily spend an hour plus just wandering. Enjoy!

This spot is beautiful. Free parking from what I'm aware. Near the mall, view of Queen Mary, boats docked in the water. Lighthouse as well. Beautiful sceneries overall. I take a week off working out every 10 weeks of dedication. So I went here to get my steps in (10K within 1 hr 27 min = 4 ish miles).

It is a city park on Queensway Bay near downtown Long Beach, where a sandy beach occupies the north side of the park on Rainbow Harbor, and it terminates at a protective rocky shoreline. At the center of the park on a grassy hill is a tall lighthouse tower with a paved spiral walkway leading to it. The park, during day and night, has amazing views of the Queen Mary, the Long Beach skyline, and the Aquarium.

Wonderful place to spend an afternoon. You get sunshine, fresh air, boats, water, and the city as your backdrop. Walk up to the light tower for a panoramic view. They have scooters and bikes you can rent. We spent the most beautiful day here people watching, rolling down the hill, foot race, and even made flower necklaces like we did in grade school. My godson made me make ten so he could give them out to all the women in his life (grandma, aunts, mama, etc.). He collected flowers and made me sit there until he had one for everyone. He also made me roll down the hill (not as easy as it looks). We snacked on gold fishes and dum dums. The boys did NOT want to leave but we had lunch reservations. It was the most wonderful day and it cost next to nothing.

wuts not 2 like bout this place (perhaps da smelly water) it boasts beautiful scenery, both day & nite, its fairly well kept, has a variety of attractions such as AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC, theres a ferris wheel & swan boat ride, variety of restaurants/shops, nice boardwalk, e-scooters, etc i try 2 visit on a regular basis (2X a month)

Got here biking with a friend up the bike path along the coast. There's a beautiful lighthouse on the park. It's a great spot for walking your dog in the afternoons, as there are not a lot of people. You get views of the harbor, and into the ocean. Would highly recommend coming by during the golden hour.

Ask the Community - Shoreline Park

    Are there restrooms?

I believe there are restrooms at the "beginning" of the park (the western end of the peninsula).

Where would I be able to park? Is there a fee

There are two parking garages within walking distance. Yes, you will have to pay a small fee. Some of the businesses and restaurants will validate your parking to give you 2 hours free parking. There are also metered spots along the main roads.

Are there any drone restrictions at this park?

    No restrictions

Do I need a photography permit to have an engagement session here?

    No. Not at all

Is this a good place to see the 4th july queen mary fireworks?

Yes ... but get there early cuz it gets packed

Is this lighthouse area accessible to public during Grand Prix or is it blocked off or closed?

    Yes it is accessible..//

I see there is a lighthouse there.... is it open? Can you go inside the lighthouse for a tour?

No ... it's not real ... it's just for looks

Do park rangers or cops patrol a lot around here? Any good fishing spots?

Nope, I haven't seen any in my times there. You should be good to go just keep an eye out.

Are there like park grills there?

    Not that I've seen.

    Are dogs allowed?

    Yes

I saw posted that it closes at 6 PM. Does the park actually bar entry after that time?

    No

Assuming this is all part of the Drake Park proper, but it took a little intuition to find the entrance for our first visit. And still, the parking lot is small, filled with litter, human waste, and lots of broken auto glass... And it's about a 200 yard walk to the entrance of the artificial turf soccer field. Much of the human detritus in the parking lot is likely attributed to the considerable homeless population that is evident in the immediate area: dozens of people were camped out just across the street, in the dirt lot area adjacent to the river channel. That same dirt lot is variably covered with piles of demolition construction materials haphazardly dumped by who knows who? In pure defiance of posted signs prohibiting dumping. Other "unhoused Angelinos" seem to be wandering about the park, utilizing senses beyond my standard five (sight, smell, taste, hearing, and feeling) to experience things I can only imagine.... and a couple had set up camp in the park's landscaping adjacent to the walking path. Not so much unsafe as much as unsanitary This part of the park features what appears to be some kind of community garden - - locked and secured behind 10 foot chain-link fences. there is a public park restroom with only 2 of the 8 single seater stalls unlocked, and both are horrific inside. Some beautiful wall murals are marred by tagging. Much of the park here is adjacent to industrial yards, and most of the bordering landscape is littered with garbage. The soccer field is actually quite beautiful: artificial turf field with a perimeter fence. I laughed a little bit at the idea that this was a "green belt" and the soccer field was artificial turf... But there is certainly some actual real grass field in this park, and some California native plants along the periphery. So I guess that counts in the midst of This residential-industrial interface. The air was pretty heavy with the smell of oil refinery and low tide from the nearby river channel, which was probably a bigger deal to the soccer players than it was to me as a spectator. A generous three stars for the really nice soccer field and the fact that my truck windows weren't added to the considerable collection of broken auto window glass on the ground in the parking lot. My only other Long Beach Park frame of reference is Bluff Park, so I can confidently say this is nicer.... relative, though, that comparison is...

It was my first time at Whaley Park, and I did not realize how much there was to enjoy until I walked around. I appreciated how easy it was to relax there without feeling rushed or crowded, even with all the teens playing games, taking photos, and talking with each other.
