This is the closest Sound Transit light rail stop just East of the new 145th roundabout above I-5…read more The Homie used this frequently to commute to/from UW Seattle campus. He has also rode this nearly the entire length from Lynnwood to SeaTac. Popular stops north of downtown include Northgate, Roosevelt/65th, UDistrict/The Ave, UW/Husky Stadium, and Capitol Hill/Broadway. Downtown stops include Westlake, Symphony, Pioneer Square, CID, Stadium, and SoDo. Additional stops spanning the length include Beacon Hill, Mount Baker, Othello, Rainier Beach, Tukwila Int'l Blvd, SeaTac, and Angle Lake. Future plans include connecting to Federal Way and to the Eastside across Lake Washington to Bellevue and Redmond. For current information: https://www.soundtransit.org Anyways, we attended the Starcrawler/Garbage concert at the Paramount last night. Because of the Mariners ALCS game 3 and evening commute, we decided to take light rail and not deal with parking and traffic in downtown Seattle (10/15/25). Absolutely a smart move! Lucked out with a convenient parking spot in the garage (Note: 24 hour max or vehicle will be towed). Garage is well lit, however no visible security cameras. Make sure to secure your car and contents, lock it up! Major Metro bus routes have also stops at this station to help with connectivity. For example, The Homie uses Route 333 to connect from 145th/Aurora and/or Rapid Ride E. Great route between there, Shoreline Community College and Mountlake Terrace light rail station. We walked from parking garage to the station, tapped our Orca cards for fare payment. Single ride kiosks are available. There's elevator, stairs and escalator access to the rail deck. Note: fare enforcement will be stepped up and unfortunately there are currently no restroom facilities. Glad that this is one of two light rail stops in Shoreline. The other one is Shoreline North 185th. Great way to get around and provide an additional transportation choice for northenders!

Uber in Seattle is... well, it's what you use because there aren't really any other options. Taxis?…read morePractically extinct. Hailing one here feels like waiting for a unicorn to trot down Pike Street. So, Uber it is. The service itself is hit-or-miss. Sometimes you get a clean car, a driver who actually knows the city, and a smooth ride. Other times you're stuck on a scenic "Seattle detour" that's just code for "the GPS lost its mind in SoDo." Traffic is brutal no matter what, so don't expect miracles--whether you're in an Uber or your own car, you'll be staring at brake lights. Pricing swings with the mood of the city. Surge pricing during a Mariners game or when it rains (so, basically every other day)? Expect your wallet to feel lighter. But compared to the ghost town of taxis, Uber at least shows up when you need it, which is really the only reason it wins by default. Uber in Seattle isn't glamorous. It's not particularly cheap, and it's not always smooth. But it exists, it functions, and it gets you where you need to go--eventually. And in a city where taxis are a relic of the past, that's about as good as it gets.

I cannot believe the prices Uber is getting away with. It's insane in Seattle. A simple math…read moreequation: needed ride to SeaTac, distance 20 miles. If you car got just 20 mtg, then say it's $7.00 in gas. So my 25 minute, 20 mile ride was $87.00. Let's say the driver makes $25 per hour, which means they made $12.50 on my 25 minute ride. This means Uber made $67.50 which is $135 per hour. Get real! Stop gouging Seattle Uber! !!

Very little is offered by way of seating, covered space under which to hide from the elements (sides are all open so any light wind will bring the elements to you), and streets must be crossed in order to get anywhere off of TC Island, unless, of course, you plan to just hop on to another bus. Close-ish, proximity-wise, to Northgate Mall, but still a bit of a walk (maybe 5-10 minutes depending on your speed, traffic and the weather) to the mall entrances. Get ready, too, for some stairs!

In addition, there are numerous parking lots that riders can utilize for their commutes. Most of the routes located here are to and from downtown Seattle. Though there are a few that head further north. Route 41 is great because it has nonstop service to and from downtown making for a faster commute. There are also a few buses that go to nearby neighborhoods like Ballard, Green Lake, Wallingford and the U-District. Though you are better off taking a different route to those places if you are travelling from downtown rather than getting to Northgate and changing buses. The transit center is just okay. It seems clean enough, though not pristine. Though I don't know how I would feel waiting here at night. If you live on the north end, this should be your spot in commuting to and from downtown.
