I posted this review on their google reviews section and it was hidden:
Not a safe place for LGBTQ+ to shop or work at. I heard a customer call an employee a slur and nobody stood up for him. I caught up with him later asked if he was okay and he said that management disciplined/patronized him instead of protecting his rights, causing him to feel unsafe at work.
It is illegal for employers to discriminate against their employees INCLUDING THOSE WHO ARE LGBTQ+. It is unacceptable that nobody will stand up for their fellow human beings even if they are different than themselves.
As straight cis ally, it disgusts me that people will allow mistreatment of LGBTQ+ folks, especially when they are stuck working in customer service with bigot customers knowing that management will only make things worse. I hope that employee finds a more accepting and safe place to work, especially with the dangerous times we are in. Who's to say that this or any other customer won't escalate their hatred and get that employee hurt or harassed outside of work? It has most certainly happened before, and it is happening a lot more now than you think.
It is not management's place to "pray for" their employee and tell him that he was somehow wrong to stand up for himself. They need to do their job and deal with the situation in a LEGAL way that protects their employee's rights as a fellow human and worker. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen, and I hope it isn't caused by the wrongful injury or death of someone. THAT is how serious this is.
Also if you are management or an employee of this store and reading this, remember that it is also ILLEGAL to retaliate against this employee because of my review. I am posting this review on his behalf because I feel obligated as an ally. He did not ask me to do this, I am doing it because it is the right and morally correct thing to do.
You can recite store policy at me all you want, but at the end of the day you broke that policy. You willfully endangered an employee who is a minority because of your opinion that the customer is always right- or however you justified this. This is disgusting and immoral behavior, especially for those who consider themselves "faithful" or Christian. Jesus would be ashamed of you. read more
