Savory Tomato Basil Pancake
Sarah A.

We went for brunch and all got pancakes. It was a very welcoming space. We sat on the patio with our dog and waiter brought out a nice little chicken treat for her! They had savory pancakes on the menu and I knew I would be missing out if I didn't try them. I got the tomato basil savory pancake and it was so good! Pesto was light and the egg was cooked perfectly.

BBQ Chicken Sandwich and German Potato Salad

It's not often that I'd give a 5 star review for a sandwich but Shoop's European Deli on Main Street in Santa Monica filled my tummy with goodness today. After a visit to Dog Ppl, my friend and I and our two pooches grabbed some lunch at Shoop's. There are many German options, as well as other European treats to choose from. The chocolates, cheeses, and other goods make this a friendly, well-stocked fun place to eat. We shared two sandwiches. The Tuna Melt was delicious and served with yummy coleslaw. We also loved the BBQ Chicken sandwich with grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado, greens, tomatoes, mayo, and BBQ sauce on ciabatta with the best German Potato Salad that I've ever tasted! I can't wait to back to Shoop to experience breakfast too.

We got here around 12:30PM on a Sunday and they ran out of the smoked salmon :( definitely come here early to get it because it has to be good. We got the bacon pancakes, gravlax and the bacon cheddar scramble. Food was solid all around

Salmon sand which, pancakes, Roast Beef And Swiss

Came here on a Sunday and there wasn't direction on where to sit or meet host. We were seated after being asked if we would like to order. The roast beef sandwich was really tasty, coleslaw was delicious and Russian dressing complimented the sand which well. Potato salad was delicious, it had bacon and you really tasted the vinegar but overall it was a nice balance. The service wasn't the best, we had to wait to ask for water and we ended up just grabbing our own Togo boxes and went inside to pay. Good food but wish we had better service.

Many restaurants boast European style food but Shoop's really brings fusion to LA. Through their smoked salmon, it's a unique cuisine beyond lox bagels. The salmon pancake is a delicious slightly sweet and savory, with the dill sauce on the side. The salmon baguette and the ham omelette are brunch staples they have not failed. The outdoor seating is very relaxed, we got seated immediately and got to enjoy weekend sun. In addition, the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, they are so warm to welcome you and answers questions about the menu. Lastly, the interior of the place is super cool because it's also a pantry store for all sorts of dried and imported goods.

Looking for somewhere to eat in Santa Monica that wouldn't break the bank I found this, but it was quite the walk. We decided to go for it cause who doesn't love a good deli. Stop in the way for coffee and continued on a long walk. It was well worth it There is a line for takeout. Or you could sit down and there was table service. We each got a sandwich and shared half half. The food was fresh delicious and amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by the soft flavorful bread. This is not gourmet or fancy just a solid, good deli sandwich Bravo

Just such lovely sandwiches honestly! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu as every sandwich is fresh and flavorful. My friend and I ordered ahead through a call and we were able to pick up our sandwiches within 20 minutes. It was super easy to do so and our sandwiches were fantastic to-go options. Couldn't be happier with the staff members we interacted with. Everyone was so kind and attentive. I had the chicken pesto sandwich and it was perfect. The pesto was fresh, the chicken was perfectly grilled, and the baguette was just every bread lovers dream. Their portions are definitely hearty, so depending on the day I could eat the sandwich in one go or get two meals out of it.

This place was a surprising find. The white sausage with kraut was LEKKER! Nice outdoor dining & attentive service top off the experience.

This place is amazing. Fabulous smoked salmon, deli favourites....did I mention blueberry pancakes. It stands out on Main Street or for that matter, anywhere. Provides a first class meal that you can always depend on.

The food was decently good . We got the pastrami Swiss sandwich w/ potato salad , the chicken pesto sandwich & the 3 stack of buttermilk pancakes The menu was like a different language to me . A bit over priced . The hot cakes were a bit fluffier than anticipated, but was still really good , pastrami sandwich & pesto sandwich were both delicious . The service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly & kind . The dine in area is kind of small . The outdoor patio is a lot bigger . Parking is on the street . Paid 60 for the plates with a glass of OJ , The OJ was tasty , freshly squeezed . Nice little hidden gem . .

The service was quick, food was amazing, gorgeous Sunday brunch! I ordered the Savory Salmon Pancake and my husband had the Bacon Cheddar Scramble. Both were amazing, highly recommend this location!

Great local spot with tons of outdoor seating and diner vibes! Can't wait to go back for pancakes.

This is the only shop where I can find my favorite Bonne Maman cookies. They also have a great selection of German products I loved eating growing up. Great selection of chocolates, Christmas gingerbreads, candies, advent calendars etc ...

The inside was very clean, cute, and spacious. There is also an outside patio. No shortage of sitting options. We ended up ordering the super bowls- VIP Poke and Kebobs Mediterraneo. Both with white rice and greens. I honestly loved both of them equally. The quality of fish in the poke was outstanding and the chicken kebob was so tender and juicy. We also got the Pineapple Zingy Fizzy drink which was very refreshing on the warm day. The staff was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The only thing I want to add is that on the menu board had a key for items, one being a * indicates the item contain nuts. Some of the bowls listed cashew chipotle sauce, but there was no * next to the item name. It's a quick fix to avoid any accidents :)

My wife was craving Thai food, so she ordered the Thai dish, while I was stuck between the Peruvian Saltado and the Showtime Burger. I ended up going with the burger, and I'm glad I did. It was absolutely amazing -- flavorful, high quality, and perfectly put together. From the first bite, you could taste all the layers of flavor in what honestly felt like a masterpiece of a burger. Both dishes were very good, but the burger was definitely the winner for us. We also tried the Garage beer, which was super light and delightful, along with a latte. The latte was okay. We're big coffee people, so it didn't quite meet our expectations. It was served too hot, and the milk seemed overheated. The coffee itself tasted good, but it didn't feel carefully crafted. I enjoy latte art and that first sip from a freshly made uncapped latte, and that part was missing for me. That said, the food was so good that we're more than willing to overlook the coffee. Great vibes, superb service, and an overall fantastic experience. Highly, highly recommend this place. We'll definitely be back with friends and family.

I ordered the mozzarella sandwich with fresh ovoline mozzarella, creamy avocado, crunchy alfalfa sprouts, pickled red onions, and zatar spread on their signature crackly house made focaccia. The sandwich was stacked incredibly high with fresh ingredients and every bite was delicious. The focaccia alone deserves recognition since it was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. The flavors worked really well together. The portion was huge and it took me about forty minutes to finish because it was so generously loaded. They even gave me a side of avocado at no charge which was a really nice surprise. We also both ordered the homemade lemonade which was to die for and very refreshing. For the quality and portion size the prices are very affordable. They also accept Blackbird which is a great bonus. Amazing sandwiches, fresh ingredients, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere. This tiny Santa Monica wine-and-cheese concept debuted in 2016, and their charcuterie boards earned acclaim from Oprah and The New York Times alike. During the pandemic, Lady & Larder ventured into the sandwich game, and the result was a resounding success. Nowadays, the not-so-secret "Secret Lunch" lineup of gourmet sandwiches is among the best in Los Angeles. The tiny Santa Monica shop shares the block with a Sherwin-Williams and a boxing gym. Cross your fingers for metered street parking on the trafficky block of Pico. Outside, red metal patio furniture is shaded by the overhanging storefront. Natural light runs through multicolored windows to the shop within. The mosaic tiled floor is effortlessly chic. The soaring whitewashed walls are minimally decorated, while shelves and refrigerators are carefully curated with wines, cheeses, tinned fish, and candles. The tablet register is set up on a worn kitchen countertop. Soft, instrumental music immediately feels welcoming. I've visited multiple times for early weekend lunch, and our Toast pre-order was ready upon arrival. We grabbed a table outside, and numerous takeout customers popped in and out during our meal. My favorite was the Disco Only. This elevated turkey club featured an impressive depth of flavor, from the sharp alpine cheese to the rich garlic mayo to the tangy pepperoncini vinegar. The thick-cut Bub and Grandma's sesame bread held up admirably well, and the arugula added a welcome fresh factor. The proteins were plentiful but were outshone by the other components. I also loved the Hot Girl Salami. The sweet-and-hot mustard and crispy baguette accentuated the rich, almost buttery salami. Meanwhile, the Venice Cowgirl was like a cheeseboard on a baguette. The sweet peaches and apricot-habanero jam dominated the subtly rich cheese or thin prosciutto, but the sandwich nonetheless proved to be a unique, summery option worth sharing. Lastly, the Yes, Honey elevated the ham-and-cheese with tangy relish, but the other components felt standard and forgettable. The service was friendly and efficient, and sandwiches ran for $15-20 each. Overall, the food tasted like the Santa Monica Farmer's Market on a premium roll, with sandos ranging from good to excellent. They are worth a dedicated visit if you're in the neighborhood, and I can't wait to work my way through more of Lady & Larder's menu.
