Modern, unique, clean lines, and no big floral patterns. Yama is the sister store but the opposite of The Peacock Room and definitely more my speed. I have been looking for a store that carries my size in unique pieces that will last. I happy to pay for quality of a well-made piece and am tired of the mass-produced casual wear that seems to be the only options anymore and fall apart in a couple months or after a few washes. The saleswoman was super sweet and helpful. I kept bugging her to look at the pieces behind the counter that just came in. She was steaming them but they looked so good, I had to try one on. I didn't end up purchasing anything, as I wasn't planning on making a purchase today and my meter was running out, but I did try on 5 more items and cannot stop thinking about this store and the Joseph Ribkoff items. I have to go back and soon. I gave my husband fair warning :) This is the type of store you building your wardrobe from, with great pieces that will last.

They also offer a wide variety of sizing so those of us with more ample curves have options, too. When I walked in, I fell in love with a nice cowl neck top. Made in America (which they noted on the tag) the top was black and had a shiny silver spotted pattern on the cowl area of the shirt. It was different! The pricing was inline with what I've paid for other pieces made in America, which I personally value and seek out when shopping. When I turned the corner in the back, a whole new area revealed itself. Several racks of wardrobe pieces that will all stand out in a crowd. I told my husband that some of them I saw myself wearing when I finally doubled down on my "fun and kooky art teacher vibe" but not everything is that bold. There were some very smart pieces, some more traditional silhouettes but in bold colors. There is also mid-century modern clothes that were retro but also in the here and now. I haven't intended on buying a bright pink party dress, but when I slipped it on in the fitting room I was thrilled - it fit like a glove. The dress was an XXL which I don't think I've ever worn, but knowing fashion sizing can sometimes be wonky I gave it a go. It had some frill, a front zipper that smartly hid itself (and thank goodness, a dress I can zip up for myself and I don't have to shimmy into), and the best part... POCKETS! REAL FUNCTIONAL POCKETS. It was even on their sale rack for a great price. The next time I'm looking for an outfit for a wedding or maybe just to replace a couple shirts with something with a bit more personality, I'll definitely be back.

When walk into this beautifully decorated and well-stocked store it doesn't look or feel like a typical resale shop. She has an eye for couture, current trends, vintage, and formal wear in sizes from extra small to XXL. No matter what your size, you'll find fashionable clothing. She also carries accessories (scarves, jewelry, purses, etc...) One of her mottos is "being broke ain't cute" and her clothing is priced right. If you catch a sale, don't sleep on it. I've gotten many designer dresses around $30-$35. Of course there are items below and above this price! She usually does a weekly FB "live" so that you can see some of her mostly one of a kind inventory. There are dressing rooms inside with adequate space and full-size mirrors. There is still a mask policy. So wear one or she had them for you at the door. There's paid parking on 9 mile and in the back lot.

Let me paint the picture…read more.. My wife and I were attending a wedding at the Port Authority. We arrived at the Marriott in the Renaissance Center with plenty of time to relax. Since she always takes four hours longer than me to get ready, I took the opportunity to watch TV and have a little rest, deciding that I'd get up at 4:30 pm with plenty of time to get myself ready for the 6 pm wedding as the venue was only about 10 minutes away. At 4:45 pm, I proceeded to put on my dress shirt and, to my shock and disappointment, realized I had packed a tuxedo shirt instead of a normal button down. The shirt I had with me required cufflinks and buttons that were sitting in my closet at home. There was no way I could drive there and back so I decided to look for a place close by that might be able to give me a hand. Knowing that my wife was extremely displeased, but handled it very well, I tried several avenues to remedy this situation, including asking other hotel guests if they had a shirt I could borrow and stopping into nice restaurants in the area to see if the waitstaff had any shirts on hand. When those options failed, I ran the thirteen minute route down Randolph to find Hot Sam's. I arrived at their door at 5:10 pm and the store was alive with people getting measured for suits, people socializing on the loungers around the store, and managers and staff mingling with customers and regulars coming in and out of the store. They saw me as I entered, out of breath and sweating profusely, and asked what my situation was. I told them that I was in jeopardy of both missing a wedding and being killed by my wife, which they immediately smiled, gave me a napkin to dry my brow, and were able to tell the size of my shirt without even getting a measuring tape. The shirt was perfectly priced considering they could have charged me 4 x what I paid to solve the problem. They wished me well and told me they would be here to serve me (and others) for whatever the occasion would be in the future. Within 13 minutes, my emergency was resolved and I was able to causally stroll back to the venue feeling ready to dance the night away. I even beat my wife to the venue. I will definitely be returning to Hot Sam's in the future (once my shin splints heal) when I need to freshen up my wardrobe or find the perfect outfit for a special occasion. Thank you, gentlemen, for taking care of me and being a staple to this community.
