If you're looking for some classic hippie culture, a payroll for decor, This is the place to go. From crystals and black light posters to rolling papers and water pipes. This place has it all

Back in my day The Road Show was this too-cool-for-school punk rock store at The Shops at the Top, a weird upstairs mini-mall at the 12 Mile and Gratiot shopping center. The Shops at the Top never came close to leasing out all its storefronts but for years The Road Show was a mainstay. I often went there to loiter and pick up the free Fun tabloids, a precursor to Orbit, which was a precursor to Real Detroit. With no way out to Royal Oak, The Road Show was about the only place I could see this subculture. I rarely bought anything, an MC Escher shirt here, a weed pipe there, a Ministry t-shirt and one time a Dinosaur Jr. t-shirt for a tour I never experienced live. I was a young poseur still trying to iron out my identity and the Manic Paniced employees heaped scorn on me. It was a beautiful, formidable, awful place. Things changed a lot when The Road Show decamped to their own street level building years later. They now offer a lot more things for sale, but in trying to be a catch-all store for all things offbeat, they've lost a certain special something. You can now find Boomer friendly merch with Betty Boop, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles alongside Siouxsie Sioux and Suicidal Tendencies. They have two poster rooms, one with black light, candles, knives, old school non-internet porn, smoking accessories- with recreational legalized in Michigan I don't even think they have to pretend they're strictly for tobacco, t-shirts, bobble heads and even pets. I'd probably avoid buying a lizard or a bunny here. It's hearsay but I've heard bad things about how well they care for animals. Bruce the original owner is still kicking, rocking a plexiglass face shield in the face of the pandemic. There's always plenty of employees milling about to help you, and without a whiff of the elitism of the old days. The old spikey haired brigade would probably shit seeing stuff with Marvel characters and Eminem peppering the place. They're paranoid about shoplifters, I think largely because they have so much stuff adolescents would like to swipe. Don't try it, kids. There was a viral video making the rounds recently of a young woman caught stuffing her backpack with merchandise. I wonder how she even made it into the sales floor with it. The Road Show currently closes at 6:45 which is just weird, but it's nice the place is still kinda off. After years of not passing through the doors here, I recently purchased a pocketknife, a Buddha figurine and some nice woven gloves here. A lot of stuff is a bit pricey here, you could likely find better deals on the Interwebs, but the knife and the gloves were pretty easy on the wallet, and the Buddha wasn't terribly outrageous. It's funny how I went from trying too hard to being comfortable in my own skin while The Road Show lost some focus and now tries too hard to be all things to all people but time changes all of us. It's no longer an event to go here and I rarely do but it's nice knowing The Road Show is still abiding, the original Hot Topic before there was Hot Topic.

I always like this place because I thought it was a vibe. But recently I purchased blue stone plugs and they literally made my ears blue. I washed them multiple times and they still turned my ears blue kinda upset about it especially because they were overpriced as well.

My favorite rock guy at The Road Show. This guy knows EVERYTHING about the stones and crystals they sell! He's FANTASTIC!

I AM IN LOVE. I am a frequent purchaser of crystals and stones, both for classes I teach, and for personal use, and I have to say that I have never found better quality or better prices than I have at The Road Show. My cousin took me in to have a look around and I will say that I was a bit skeptical at first. Known in the area as a "head shop", they carry a really wide variety of really interesting and wonderful things, from tapestries and salt lamps to pipes, hippie clothing and exotic pets. With such a variety of types of merchandise, I did not expect a great selection of stones. Boy was I wrong! Not only do they have the most affordable crystals and gems in the area, but they are of superior quality! I have rarely found a shop that knows the difference between turquoise and turquenite (a dyed form of howlite). They do! I have also not found a shop that carries more than just tiny chips of garnet (my birthstone) and usually at astronomical prices! They do! I purchased a large, facet-cut garnet for about $5, where most shops would charge that much for a chip 1/10th the size! Their amethyst selection is astounding and SO affordable! I just can't stop going in there! At the moment, they carry over 200 types of crystals and stones. I generally look for particular vibes from stones, using them for metaphysical purposes and things of that nature. What I love about The Road Show is that they have a very strong geological base of knowledge about the stones. They are intent on getting stones that are more rare or hard to find, as well as stones that are unique and interesting. The thing I like most is that they are not selling the stones from a metaphysical perspective. As a matter of fact, they seem to trust that you know what you are there to buy and why. If you want to have a conversation about the origins of a stone or the geological side of things, they are ready, willing and very knowledgeable. If you want to know they metaphysical properties, they have a list and a few books you can reference. I highly recommend The Road Show for their wide variety of beautiful and authentic crystals and stones, and for their wonderful customer service in that area of the shop. They have great deals on Himalayan salt lamps as well. Go pay them a visit! You won't be sorry. Everyone I have ever spoken with at the store has been kind, friendly and super helpful, apart from the older lady who rings you up at the end of your shopping. I am assuming she is one of the owners. She's downright unfriendly, but is efficient.

One, you could never get a call back or a response in messenger. Very hard to work with someone when communication is one way. Checks were to be ready on the 10th of each month, with a sales report sent via email. I left self addressed stamped envelopes to have my check mailed because it was a 45 minute drive one way to get there. I don't think my check was ever mailed on time, and each month you would wait and wait for a sales report. One month she was too busy to get checks out on time. I always felt that vendors came last. I gave her my 30 day notice prior to leaving. Granted, it was in December when I was leaving. But, I left a message the night before I was picking up, on the vendor facebook page. Her response was that my inventory would be left in boxes, in the alley. So, my inventory sat in an alley all night. I had 4 boxes out there. Once I got settled and checked in what was there, and what I had sold had been also checked off my inventory list, I was missing around $1200 in product. And I had a handful of pieces that didn't belong to me. I contacted the owner and her response was that there is nothing she can do. But if she comes across any, she would let me know. As for what I received that didn't belong to me, no response. I have reached out a few times since and it's radio silence. Yes, she has a beautiful store, and with the amount of stock, it can be overwhelming for a shopper. As a vendor, I do not recommend this place. I say, stay far away.

When I walked in the door, I barely received a hello from whomever was working that day. In fact, my presence was not even acknowledged the entire time I was in the building, past the weak hello. There are some cute things in this place, but I have to say, I would hesitate to leave any of my product there. It doesn't feel like a very friendly place to do business, if I'm not even acknowledged as a shopper.

As of July 2022, the Grosse Pointe Park location is closed due to building repairs, but the Roseville location is open for walk-in and delivery orders. The website states that they are delivering to Grosse Pointe and surrounding areas daily. I placed my order online at https://flowersbygabrielle.com. The main page of the website will show you what is available and what is currently sold out. Although the items available are limited, I find Gabrielle's floral arrangements to be more sophisticated and elegant than a lot of other larger floral shops in the area. I chose the "Children's Valentine Arrangement" for delivery to a colleague in Detroit who recently had a baby. You can choose from a unicorn or giraffe planter that comes with "a beautiful whimsical arrangement filled with fresh colorful blooms" as described on Gabrielle's website. The arrangement was delivered on time and my colleague loved it. I will use Flowers by Gabrielle again for flower deliveries.

A year ago, they offered the best price for a custom gold engagement ring, delivered impeccable craftsmanship, and treated me like a valued customer. That memory made us excited to return for our wedding bands. Unfortunately, that excitement evaporated the moment we were greeted by Jim. His demeanor was terse, dismissive, and bordering on condescending. Rather than guiding us through a special moment, he made us question whether we were foolish for even considering the pieces we showed interest in. After barely five minutes of engagement, he waved me off to another part of the store when I asked about silver chains. We stood awkwardly for nearly 20 minutes--no one acknowledged us, and it turned out we needed to pull a new number to get help. Meanwhile, I was fully prepared to make significant purchases. This review isn't about a single rude encounter--it's about how easily a brand can lose loyalty when they fail to deliver consistent respect and care. I'm giving Maloof two stars solely out of respect for their earlier excellence. But I won't return. If this business wants to remain relevant with a new generation of buyers, it needs to rethink who's representing it. A moment that should've been joyful was soured by apathetic service. That's the kind of dead weight that ages a brand out of existence.
