Beautiful boutique in a great area! So much to see at this shop. The day I went was Noel Night and they had live music and a lady who danced, but then stood still for 45 minutes. I love this shop and the unusual and beautiful items they sale. The earrings alone are worth going to check out. However the coats were so unusual and you won't see everyone in your threads. " I Cannot get enough of their really funky and unique urban wear. You will probably not find another store quite like this one. Very stylish pieces can be found here and the owner is very friendly! Everything I've bought from Flo gets compliments from those who see it. They ask me where I found it... I really don't want to tell them because its been my little secret for the past year but I let them in on it every now and then. The pieces here are very cool, not the average stuck up clothing you'll find just about everywhere else. Take a look and I'm sure you'll find something to your liking. Love Flo's. As with any boutique, prices are higher than what you'd pay at your average chain store at the mall. But you can leave knowing that when you wear your Flo clothes out, you won't be seeing anyone else in them. Also, your dollars are going to support a female owned, local small business that in turn supports and stocks many items from independent Detroit clothing and jewelry designers. My parents live a stone's throw away from Flo. I don't make a single trip home without moseying on over to take a look at what the shop has to offer. 99% of the time, I find something spectacular. And coming from Chicago, the prices are awesome for boutique items. One note, be patient at checkout. It's a laid back kind of store. It has taken me anywhere from 3 - 15 minutes to pay for my items. People start to chit chat, get distracted by the music or friends, or are just generally a little scatter-brained. It's either really annoying or really endearing. I had some errands to do in Midtown so I asked my mom if she would like to come along to get out of her "two mile radius.". We stopped by Avalon and saw Flo Boutique a door down. It was a Monday so most of the businesses were closed but we peeked in the window and saw the owner restocking. She was so kind to let us in anyway. The store is filled with great clothing and accessories. Most of which are works of art. There was some pretty cool menswear and miscellaneous stuff, along with a good amount of women's dresses and separates. I loved the selection of hats, mostly knits... urban and fun. My mom bought a snazzy jersey dress with a decorative vest. The vest has handmade appliqué flowers and other sewn details. The designer of this dress is an artist for sure. The store carried independent designers. I'm not sure if they were local. My mom also bought a cute hat. It was quite an experience for my mom to shop at a boutique. She usually goes to Value World (it's within two miles of her house.) The only downside for me was that the stock was a little too pricey for me at this time. I hope to return when I get a little extra cash. read more

I am a fashion stylist, I style celebrities from metro Detroit. I was very excited to go to this new store to check out new local hotspots I don't recall ever going into a boutique that was so racist in the city of Detroit. I am a white woman shopping locally in Detroit to promote Detroit and it's local brands. I came into the store with my multiracial daughter, and even she could pick up on the negative vibes they were shooting at me. The owner seem to be knowledgeable and helpful however the staff she has chosen to hire along with the clientele in the store I felt were extremely racist. They were completely disrespectful to me and had very heavy attitudes, I write this review only in order that she will make better choices as to help her customers in order for her to succeed. I did like the store and thought she had unique things however the experience was one I have not had before in shopping in our fabulous city and in my professional experience the store lost out on a huge sale today as well as future sales and promoting through the celebrities that I style thank you. read more

I happened upon Flo's when visiting Detroit with a group of progressive educators from around the U.S. We were looking around the city on buses, prior to beginning our meetings, and we stopped for ten minutes at the Avalon Bakery, next door. Avoiding the long line, I went into Flo's and was welcomed by the women working there as if they were truly delighted to see us. The shop has cute clothes and accessories, and they had a great sale going on. They also featured the artwork and music of independent artists. I picked out a funky skirt and the woman at the register took a little more off the sale price - just to be nice. My home town of Boston could learn a lot from folks in the Midwest about being welcoming. It was a very nice introduction to Detroit, a city with so much to be glum about, that I'd never have expected to be treated with such warmth. The skirt looks great too. read more

For years in the Cass Corridor, Flo's Boutique owner Felicia, has some unique, cool and funky items. You will never see yourself repeated on the street. Clothes and accessories for women and men are for all sizes and shapes. I love pieces the evoke Peace, Balance and Blessings. I love quality and craftsmanship. Flo's is an urban-chic wonderland. The owner has a true "eye" for fabulous finds. Each piece has meaning in the shop, and looks like a deliberate part of the look & feel. You'll find unique handbags, to-die-for clothing, and great jewelry. Often when I compliment someone in the neighborhood on their outfit, chances are they got something from Flo's! What's also great is that Flo's is on the same strip as Avalon (organic bakery), Goodwell's Natural Foods, and the Spiral Collective (a gift shop, art gallery and bookstore all under one roof). Lots of flowy, great drapey tops and sweaters, lots of great hats/scarves/gloves, lots of long cardigans and sweaters that keep you warm in winter, and cool vintagey decorations all around to make it feel like you're that hip.
