Asian-inspired fast food, I needed a quick bite and was in the mood for meat after all the seafood. Shiso Burger was founded by two Vietnamese chefs that opened this franchise for "healthier" fast food alternatives. There are locations all throughout Europe but this is the only one in all of Portugal.
They have menu items like Tuna and fried shrimp burgers and sides like kimchi and edamame but I get plenty of good asian good in the Bay Area and wanted their take on burger and fries.
Cheeseburger: It came on an interesting light color brioche bun I've never had before with a burger, it was very soft with the inside toasted as a shield against the ingredients that could make it soggy. It was good and way better quality than normal fast food hamburgers.
Fries: They recommend this for first-timers and so would I. These are Belgian style frites that are soaked long enough to remove starch and fried twice for a perfect outside crunch with soft mash-potato like inside. The portioning is quite large for Europe and I couldn't finish it.
The orders come in dumpling steamers, its an odd gimmick but they are very easy to eat from. read more
