I received a recommendation from a friend of mine, going through all my boxes of paper and I needed to shred a lot of paper. She recommended that I come here, ask for Ben. Well... Ben is great. He helped me out in so many ways cost wise. It's only a dollar a pound, I brought all my paper in a big plastic garbage bag. He weighed it and we just put it in the bin for the shredder. There's plenty of parking in the parking lot . I ended up coming back three times . Highly recommend that you get all your shredding done here . Worst customer service ever. Walked in to purchase a box or a mailer. Seems like it is the place for this. But guess what, you can't just buy it from them, they either charge $8 for packing or "if it's too much, go to post office". All said with not the most friendly manner. Really? $8 for a tiny box? A great, helpful, efficient shipping store! They also carry a few cards and have PO Boxes. Located in the CVS (at Louise & Ventura Bllvd) shopping complex, this little gem stays open until 6pm during the week (closed Sunday and shorter hours on Sat. I believe) and they have never failed me. The owner, Ben, is very low key and calm and always boxes up my items perfectly for deliver so that nothing gets thrashed about! I love that this is not a corporate place and is one of the (seemingly few) remaining family-operated shops in Encino! Parking, depending on the time of day, can be a challenge in this lot, but if you arrive mid-day, your hassle will be lessened. There are also a few metered spots just before you pull into the complex, so check those out too...I don't mind putting in two to four quarters (fo r30- 60 minutes) and dropping off my packages for boxing and delivery. If you go mid-day, stop in and get a Jamba Juice or Starbucks on your way out:) One final note, I believe this place, listed here as "Postnet", is actually now called, "ShipNet", so be aware of that if you're driving by and don't see a sign that says "Postnet"...it now says, "ShipNet". Do not patronize this business. The owner is stingy and unprofessional. I came in with three prepaid boxes to return to Amazon. The tape on one of my boxes was starting to come up. Ben told me that the box would open up; so I asked him if he could just put another piece of tape on it. He put one piece of packing tape across the box and then said, "three dollars." I thought he was joking with me, but, no, he was serious. I ask him how he could possibly justify charging somebody $3.00 for a piece of tape, and he said that it was his supplies and time and couldn't just be giving things away. Wow. Five seconds of his time when he has a completely empty store is worth $3.00. That's impressive. I told him I would not be paying him $3.00 for a piece of tape, and he said he would let me have the tape for free but I had to take my packages elsewhere to be shipped. Unbelievable. read more

He asked me if I had been to his store before and when I said no, he replied "read the sign" It basically stated "doing you a favor and can not be held liable". I've had a PO Box here for about 1.5 years. I've never had to borrow their tape or make copies like the other reviews, but for a PO Box, it's been a perfect experience. I receive mail in my box sporadically. Every few weeks, I call him and he informs me if I have mail in my box or not, which saves me a trip. Once in a while, I receive big boxes too. He always calls me and saves them for me until I pick up. I even sometimes forget my key and he's always nice enough to come open the box for me since he knows me. Like Anais, I brought in one prepaid package to Postnet (I think the sign outside says ShipNet now) in the CVS lot to ship to Amazon. I didn't have my label taped on because I only had brown packing tape and wanted my label to be legible. The man at the counter (I assume the owner, Ben) looked at my package and label, then looked at me and said, "You're label isn't taped." I explained my situation and he told me I would have to pay him $3 to tape it for me. I honestly thought he was joking at first, but he just stared at me for a minute. I was so surprised that I was left speechless and just walked out bewildered. It would be one thing if he taped my label and asked me to bring packages in the future with label attached or he would have to charge, but to not offer any sort of concession is, in my opinion, a poor business decision. In a day and age where there is so much competition, I believe the only way to stand out is to provide customer service and a customer experience that goes above and beyond. I see that this business has received good reviews in the past, which makes me assume the owner Ben has loyal customers. Not offering to tape a new customer's label on their package is a terrible way to try and find new loyal customers. I will not be a loyal customer of this business. read more

By far one of the rudest people I have met. Been here multiple times and every time he acts like he is doing us a favor. This last time I dropped off a small box to be picked up by UPS and he said "I can't take it. It won't fit in my store. " Then he literally told me to go to another place if I'm not happy. Postnet is not a charity! It is a business! An excellent and reliable business! We have been trading at Postnet for it seems two decades. Ben is a kind, wonderful business man, who is expert in packaging, postage, and receiving mail and package deliveries! If you're expecting a FedEX package requiring a signature have it sent to Ben then pick it up at the store. Yes! He does charge for tape, etc. This because many clients - like us - visit with packages that need just one finishing touch. Add all the little materials together and that equals a big expense! If you have a problem with being charged for supplies remember that Ben, a one man operation, has to order the supplies, pick up the supplies, keep them available, pay taxes, and taxes, and more taxes! read more

If I could leave a review of 0 stars I would. Just 30 minutes ago I had the SAME experience as Judy, whose review is filtered out (YELP???). This is the FIRST thing I'm doing since I just got home. I'm beyond angry. I searched for a UPS near me to drop off an 82LB item that had a PREPAID Label. Postnet was listed the closest to me. I called prior to leaving to confirm they do accept UPS drop offs and told him it was prepaid. He NEVER told me there would be a charge. I get there, call to ask for assistance taking it out of my car (I was with my 4 month old, mind you). He came out and was hesitant when he saw the size. He said nothing before I took it out of my car with his assistance. Once it was out, he said "$10 charge". I said "for what?". He said "processing, they don't pay me anything". I told him I had called just a bit before to confirm he takes prepaid ups drop offs and he didn't say anything about a $10 charge. I SERIOUSLY FELT I WAS BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. I didn't get his name, but am sure he's the owner. I told him I had a prepaid label and that I wasn't going to pay him to drop it off. What did he consider "processing"? Scanning the barcode??? He tried to assist me in loading it back in my car, but at that point I was in tears and told him I didn't need his help. I got it in the first time myself. The plaza's security guard, AND a gentleman collecting donations came over to assist me. I was beyond frustrated and angry. I called UPS to let them know that they should post there are processing fees at this location and the gentleman at UPS customer service said that because I had a prepaid label I shouldn't be charged anything to drop it off. He said he would make a note. As Judy says, go to UPS Store, the real deal, on Ventura just past Hilltop cleaner (Balboa). I pulled right up and the guys there didn't hesitate to help me. I actually went there for notary services last week and should have just went there to begin with. I didn't realize, until Judy's post, that this is a chain of some sort. I just had a horrible experience with the owner who refused to give me his name or business card. Although the UPS sign is in his window, when I attempted to return 2 sealed, postage paid boxes to zappos he told me the charge was $3 per box and when I explained the items were prepaid, he upped it to $5 per box. He then told me if I didn't like it, I could go somewhere else. He was obviously having a very, very bad day and he said as much. He seemed to be having personal problems that had nothing to do with me. It sure was difficult for me however to suffer the brunt of that. The center's security guard was nice enough to help me carry the packages back to the car. Postnet, the company, assured me this is not acceptable behavior and they were going to explain that to him They were very nice and apologetic Go to the UPS store at Ventura and Balboa next to the post office. OMG, what a jerk! I had a package that was a return, prepaid package that required some tape for the label I had printed off the internet. The man at the counter readily taped the label on and put some tape on the edge of the box and THEN informed me that would be $3.00!! I said, "Three dollars for tape?" He said, "Everyone comes in here for tape and I can't stay in business working for free." I told him it waws obvious he didn't want anyone returning for paying business. I could have purchased a roll of tape from CVS that was right next door. What a miserable man and a miserable experience. There are lots of other places for mailing services. I went to drop a prepaid UPS box and thought after to ask if there was some kind of receipt or confirmation that I dropped my box. The man (owner) said "Take it, we don't give receipt, you can take a picture." I was a bit confused and said "what?" to which he replied "Take it. You can take it to another place." He followed that with "This is a pain in the neck for us." All I did was ask a question. At that point I told him I would never do any business with that store ever. His response was "Get out." WOW!
