Got here at one pm right before closing. Not too many donuts to choose from since the popular ones were picked over, but we took a shot at a few flavors. We tried the maple, Bavarian (no chocolate on top which was our mistake for not being specific but we only noticed in the car on the way out, lots of cream though!), and an apple fritter. All were solid good! Lots of dough in the apple fritter even with the squirt of sweet apple feeling. We'll have to go back and try more flavors earlier in the day. read more

I have been eating at shipleys donuts from as long as I could remember. 18+ years easy. Well, I went into the San Marcos location about a week ago and was shocked by the limited selection, which I know it goes on a first come first serve basis, but running out of kolaches and donuts at 9 am doesn't seem like a normal thing to me. Not only that, they had run out of ham and cheese kolaches so they employee offered me sausage and chesse and I accepted. Before I left one of the employee was yelling at another over a coffee issue it seemed which I found super unprofessional. Once I got home an bit into my kolaches I was disgusted to find a hotdog on the inside. Last time I checked sausage and hotdogs are a little bit of a different things....I didn't eat the rest but I did get sick from the "sausage kolaches" warning people! read more

This last time I was offered a free coffee (which I don't drink) so I brought it home to my girlfriend and scored huge brownie points. I'm going to give 4 stars just because every time I go it's a good, quick and friendly experience. It's super clean which I love. Could some doughnuts be a little warmer? IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC - BEWARE - THEY DON'T CARE********* My son visited this location and requested a cinnamon roll WITHOUT nuts because he has a serious nut allergy. He has been here before and never had a problem in the past. 2 weeks ago he found nuts in his cinnamon roll after a few bites and had to rush to the ER. He suffered through an anaphylactic reaction to the nuts at the ER for over 5 hours. I called the store and asked they cover only my co-pay to the emergency room and was told NO. They didn't even refund his money for the cinnamon roll that made him sick. My son still has blood in the white's of his eyes from the whole experience 2 weeks later. I was told "you can't prove it" and "Well, I spoke to my staff and nobody admitted they gave him the cinnamon roll, so it didn't happen." If you or someone you love has an allergy I would find a business that cares enough to listen to your order correctly, or will accept responsibility for not doing the right thing. I decided to give this place another chance and I don't know why I did because it was terrible again. Honestly I feel like all the good reviews on here must be written my employees as I know multiple people who have never had a good experience. I went in a little later in the day, around 11, so I expected them not to have much variety, which they didn't. But the first thing I hear are two girls talking about partying and how one was soo hungover and talking bad about their manager....very classy...next I get this girl to take my order who looks pissed off the entire time, and when I changed my mind on something I saw her get mad, sigh, and roll her eyes at me. Saw that they take Apple Pay on the yelp app so figured if I was trying to pay with that obviously I could. Waited a whole 20 minutes in drivethru for cold kolache's and donuts only for them to take another 10 minutes to try and take my Apple Pay and then claim that they can't take it, after telling me to my face that they do take Apple Pay when I first got to the window, making me come inside regardless to pay with you guessed it, my Apple Pay. You would think a tab of only four dollars they would just bypass it after all the trouble and inconvenience. Incompetent workers with no customer service skills and rude attitude, definitely make the drive to go to the other location! If this place is going to try to be current with the times, train your employees in basic cashing out skills. read more

This place started off amazing when they opened but I have to say, the last 4 months have been rocky. I stop by there between every day and every other day but my visits are decreasing more within the last 3 weeks. Sometimes their doughnut holes are undercooked, they start to get "tough", they mix up my orders, they have a hard time comprehending half of one kind of something and half of the other, and sometimes there is nothing wrong. I will say though that when I do have an issue and call or come in about it, that is when I despise this place. When I come in almost everyday and maybe once a week have a complaint I understand it gets tiring to know I will call and let you know but I get tired of not always having what I order. It always seems like a battle with them when I complain. Do you have your receipt, can you show proof of purchase, well who did you speak with, well I made those and they were fine, what time did you come in, well you'll have to wait for a store manager, please call when they come in, they should be here at such and such time, etc. For example, I ordered half jalepeno sausage cheese kolaches and half sausage cheese. I recieved all sausage cheese and when I called and complained I was told to come in it would be fine. I was in a rush and went through the drive through I gave them the ladies name I spoke to and then they asked for a receipt or proof of purchase so I pulled up my bank with the amount, location, name, and date. Thinking it would be fine they tell me they can't do anything and that I could call or email the store manager. They hand me the business card and so I call the number, which I just got the store, so then I emailed. Lynda replied and said I could come in for my replacement and she would let them know. I go in the next day to pick it up and they said they hadn't heard anything and once again asked for proof of purchase AND wanted to see the emails. They still didn't replace the whole order and apologize. I was okay with the staff until that day. I understand you want proof I spoke to someone and made the purchase...but I had given that to them prior to me having to email the store manager. This wasn't the first and probably won't be the last I have to do this. It's a long review but worth it if you have an issue. read more

I visited this shipleys two weeks ago and when I ordered my raspberry filled donut, it had NO filling. It had been mangled and I was very unhappy. I am not the type to write a bad review based one ONE experience. However, I went back this morning with my boyfriend. I ordered a raspberry filled donut from the same skinny, high school looking girl, along with a coke with light ice. I took a sip of my coke and knew that she put a shit ton of ice in it and I was like "alright, whatever. She's just not good at listening. I drank the coke and when I went to eat my donut, I realize that it's cherry filled. My boyfriend DROVE BACK to tell them that they messed up. When he went in, he also asked if we could get a refill on the drink, as there was no ice. The same girl who took our order, little mousy girl with dark hair and skin, attitude problem, and NO care towards customer experience, tells him that refills are a dollar and seven cents. But she gives him a bag With a new donut. I open the bag to find THIS FREAKING GIRL GAVE ME A SMUSHED ASS DONUT JUST LIKE THE LAST TIME. so I calmly went in and said "excuse me, is there any way I could get a raspberry filled with the actual filling in it??? I payed for it and I would like it" she rolls her eyes and gets pissed, drops a kolache on the floor (karma is a bitch) and says "that's the last one, MAM" emphasis on the MAM. I threw the bag on the counter and walked off without my donut. I will NEVER be coming back and if I EVER see this girl again, she will have a few choice words thrown her way. I work in fast food and cannot stand when I give my service and get treated disrespectfully. I recently moved from San Marcos to Dallas. I ate at this Shipleys very often and was very happy their donuts and service. Since moving to Dallas I have yet to find a donut store that compares to this one. I will return to this Shipleys every time I am in the area! read more
