I kept passing this place all the time! I finally got a chance to try it out. When I walked in it was very clean and there was a huge assortment of donuts! At first I wasn't sure which donut to get but the maple bacon caught my eye. I also was curious what the kolache was so I got a cheese and jalapeño one. The maple bacon is self explanatory, it's good! You put bacon on any thing and BAM you got a hit! It was sweet and savory and that's my favorite combo! Also, a plus is that it wasn't dry! I've been to certain donut places that look great, but unfortunately they were drier than a desert. The kolache reminded me of a bigger version of a pigs in a blanket. I wasn't a fan of the type of cheese in it but other than that, it was good. I would say if you're looking for a donut place with many flavors, try them out! You'll definitely find something for yourself and others. read more

10:30 on a Sunday. Waited in drive thru for about 15 minutes. Only 2 cars ahead of me. Got to the order menu no one said a word. Okay must be busy inside, im not in a rush. Waited a couple of minutes, I said hello, someone then replied "we'll be with you in a second". Ok no worries. Finally get to order and they're out of a specific kolache I wanted. So I chose something else. Then I ask for blueberry cake donuts and they don't have any for the day. The weekend has to be their busiest time. So you would assume they try to be ahead on items. Keep in mind this is not the first time I've been there and they've been out of multiple items. And it's not even close to closing time. It took a few times for me to finally be irritated enough and to see enough of a pattern to write a poor review. Do better, you're a breakfast place running out of stuff constantly at breakfast time. read more

Woke up to a dead Keurig so I stopped by for coffee. The smell is intoxicating. Picked up kolaches and donuts to go for the family. The ladies in the drive through window were extremely happy and friendly early in the morning. This location has the best customer service and their food is always hot and fresh. Do-nut sleep on this business, you'll miss out! read more

Stopped by around 10a this morning and had a great experience! They had plenty of items to choose from and everything was well stoked. The person who took my order was very kind, professional and quick, and gave good recommendations. The food itself was decent. I prefer more doughy kolaches and donuts, but these were still warm, fresh and tasty enough. read more

excellent tasting donuts especially the chocolate sprinkle donuts nice friendly staff

Fantastic everything!! We tried all their kolache flavors! Delicious! Cinnamon rolls to die for and the donuts..... also slap your mom, hands down the best!!! read more

I got the glazed, chocolate iced, and a bottle of whole milk. These were nicely fried and didn't taste like oil. For me, they weren't my favorite but that is a personal taste thing. They still tasted yummy and I ate both. I don't want to dock them for personal taste because they do seem like solid doughnuts. They are also crispy on the outside and nice and airy on the inside. read more

Shipley makes some of my favorite donuts. Being from Texas, I grew up on these and always a work favorite. I don't really like donuts that much, but their glaze donuts are great. Also the Kolaches are awesome. My favorite is the jalapeño cheese one. There is something special about the dough they use for the kolaches that just makes them so tasty. All my Jax friends I have gotten to try their donuts and kolaches, have loved them. read more

So many issues. Starters, all employees sound like they are on drugs, very often out of items at the beginning of the day, because insert excuse as to why they just haven't gotten it done yet. The final straw was ordering a cold brew coffee with no ice was informed that they would not fill the cup up to the top because of no ice meeting they had to give me more coffee, no kidding you had to give me more coffee that's literally why I don't want ice in the cup... just tired of this place. It's below average quality anyways. read more

We to Shipley donuts at 3pm on a Wednesday. I asked for a cinnamon roll. They were out of almost everything. Seems they wanted to close early so they started throwing them away. So I had limited choices. When I asked why they were closing early I was told bc they had been there since 4am. On the way to their drive thru their garbage was a disgusting mess. There were donuts and food garbage all over the ground. I was concerned about the cleanliness of the shop. Won't ever be going back. P.S. the donuts were not good. Tasted stale. read more

Great service. Coffee and donuts were spot on. Will definitely be returning. Eat in was very respectful.

Decided to try it out since it was on the way back home. Picked up a half dozen and 2 kolaches. Now lemme tell you how those two sausage kolaches got devoured in the car. Man, they were hot and fresh and I only wanted a bite... Yeah. Those are legit delicious and dangerous. The donuts got saved for later and perhaps that was a bad choice because I didn't love them as much. They were good and sweet. The donut itself reminds me of a cruller. Kinda eggy and a bit springy. I am sure they would have been better fresh than a few hours later. Yet, its not close enough for me to be sure and if and when I go back, its gonna be for a kolaches. read more

The store and bathroom were clean. The service was great. The guy who attended me was very friendly and accommodating with what he could control. They were out on almost all of the Kolaches. But, that's okay because from the ones I did try, it was okay. Their donuts to me were okay too. I didn't care to eat a whole donut and that's surprising for me. Because I love donuts! However it is worth giving them a try for yourself! read more

We went here a week ago and we're not big into donuts but went because our little girl asked for one. We went in first thing we were greeted by this young gentlemen who was beyond gracious to our daughter. And asked her what her favorite color was and gave her a little donut hole. Just because his graciousness we ended up buying a dozen donuts, and like I said we're not big donut people but the donuts were amazing...so soft, we had some that had incredible tasting custard. Truly, we've gone back two times since. If your in Jacksonville or beach do yourself a favor and stop by great donuts and even better service. Super kid friendly!!! read more

If Gail says it's then you can jump into your car and start driving there immediately. This place is amazing and in my opinion well worth the 2 1/2 hours it takes to get here. The staff was friendly and the doughnuts were outstanding, fresh even after two days. If you're in the area make sure you stop by. read more

I need to go back again, I ordered a half dozen donuts- but a bunch that I wanted to try (coconut) were not included in the dozen... hmmm. A little confusing. I completely understand long johns and apple fritters and any oversized donuts being extra. One of the other things is that the cake donuts are in the case at the counter, while the filled and regular donuts are in the case on the wall. So you need to look at everything. I am determined to go back and try those handful of donuts that were on my list! My half dozen box consisted of a devils food chocolate filled donut, an apple filled donut, strawberry jelly filled, buttermilk cake, blueberry cake & chocolate filled. The chocolate filled and devils food were almost identical. The apple- usually one of my favs- was too sweet with the glaze. Cake donuts were superb! And it's hard to go wrong with jelly! I can't wait to try more! My upcoming hit list includes apple fritter, filled bar, bear claw and that chocolate coconut! Hopefully I don't eat them all... read more

Five stars for the donut, one for the coffee, and three for service. I stopped in for a snack and grabbed a chocolate sprinkle donut and iced coffee. Very reasonable prices and the donut was really good; better than its companion from Dunkin'. The iced coffee was abysmal. It was watery, bitter, and had almost a half inch of grounds in the bottom. Service was fine but a bit distracted, chocking that up to it being a new place. I'll definitely come give it another shot if for nothing else but the donut. read more

Probably the best tasting donut I've had in a long time !!! cute little shop also and great service. Prices were a bit high but you get what you pay for time and time again. Will definitely go back ! yum yum ! read more

Listen--my experience is going to be mixed but I'm basing my rating on the product and maybe my experience is a one-off. The selection of donuts is great, you'll find solid classics like at Dunkin' but nothing out of the box like you'll find at Good Dough (just apples vs oranges). Iced coffee came out quick, and without sugar is still good. I went inside to skim the donut options but I'm usually a drive thru person and just want an in-and-out experience. I only intended on 3 donuts, 1 for my bf and 2 for me, but I watched the cashier grab a Dozen size box and start to pile donut after donut into the box. I gave him benefit of the doubt that he was fulfilling an order that came over the earpiece but then he plopped it in front of me...the register still shows $7 for a small coffee and 3 donuts so naturally confused I asked if this box was for me? He responded yes and I opened the box to make sure I wasn't hallucinating and saw a dozen assorted donuts, beyond the 3 types I asked for. I confirmed this is a dozen, more than 3, and he agrees but doesn't clarify why he's giving me more...is this a store policy? A personal compliment? I was just confused! I only stopped by today as one of my rare treats, otherwise I've been recently successful at keeping myself on track with my weight goals so it now felt really awkward to have a dozen donuts in my possession watching me I explained sorry I really didn't want this many I'm going to end up throwing them away...the cashier asked me to simply give them away to friends. I mentioned I don't know this many people locally. He asked me to give them to neighbors--explained again I don't know my neighbors like that ‍I can't even bring these to the office because of sanitation precautions! I would have laughed this awkward interaction off until he said "you don't have to be so mean about it." I simply paid and took them out of guilt since it was clear there's no further explanation I could offer that could be accepted. I'm aware anyone else would enjoy 9 free donuts for the price of 3 so for anyone else thinking about it, they're good donuts, crisp enough and fluffy, so maybe if you walk in on a Sunday afternoon and they're in a good mood you'll get the same deal! It was just so cringeworthy I can't be bothered to go back read more

Shipley Do-Nuts - The missing one was a blueberry filled donut, which I don't see often and was good. - Donuts Near Me - Jacksonville, Florida

So let's start this by saying I'm trying to be as nice as possible. This place isn't for everyone. First of all at least three employees were wearing their face masks improperly. If their concern for the safety of their staff and customers is so non-chalant they don't need my business. Now for the food. I ordered two kolaches. A sausage and cheese and a sausage and cheese bold. I got them in the same bag with no identification. So not sure what i ate. Mine was ok. My wife's was undercooked and the dough was raw. We ordered two eclairs. A total of two bites were taken from them. I have never had a greasy eclair before. Hopefully i never will again. The glazed doughnuts looked beautiful. Tasted like oil and sugar. And not in a good fair for kind of way. A bad Nailed It kind of way. If you want better doughnuts try Duck Doughnuts, Doughnut Shoppe, or Dunkin'. read more

Just OK......Drove by on Sat (not our usual neighborhood) saw the sign, remember seeing them in Texas, thought I'd try.....came back the next day for breakfast - Here's the details: Staff/Service: 5 Stars - place immaculate, counterfolk nice and fast. Kolaches: 1.5 Stars - picture a cheap hot dog inside of soft hot bread.....NOT great - I've had these in Texas from other places - MUCH better than here - actually kinda gross (but curious to try the ham) Coffee: 3.5 Stars - pretty much what you'd get at Gate or Daily's...not the variety of Dunkin..... Doughnuts: 4 Stars - like a hybrid of Dunkin and Krispy Kreme - Kryspy Kreme like glaze, soft like a KK, but had filled options like Dunkin - the Blueberry was much better than the Apple. To close - wish there was a 3.5 stars - because it is better than a 3 star place, but not quite a 4........It's @20 miles from the house and don't go by too often - would not make a special trip to go, but might stop in if driving by..... read more

The place was limited on the donuts as it was the first day opened. We tried lemon, bavarian, strawberry filled and regular glazed. All were awesome. They were very fresh and delicious! One of the best donuts I've tasted and actually was better than what I tasted in Little Rock. The Kolaches were awesome. They were hot and fresh, but limited as we only tried sausage and cheese. I would highly recommend this place. The workers were very friendly! read more

The donuts .... were amazing! Not your average mom & pop shop. The dough was a little more dense but in a very delightful way! Bottom Line: If you like The Donut Shoppe (which is their only rival in town) then you'll like Shipley's. I was born in Houston where the franchise started. When I moved here and went to the Donut Shoppe, I thought "Wow! These are just like Shipleys!" They taste like a baker made the doughnuts, rather than a factory, like Dunkin. The only downside is that the older they are, the less good they taste, but that shows they make them well. And they are not on my side of town. Chocolate icing: Most doughnut places do not have chocolate icing. What they do is add brown food coloring to their icing and label it 'chocolate icing.' If you were blindfolded and they gave you a chocolate doughnut you wouldn't guess it was a chocolate doughnut. At Shipley's, the chocolate icing tastes like chocolate. read more

I grew up in Houston Tx where Shipley donuts began. I have eaten at several Shipley donuts all over the USA. I can say this will all honesty. the Shipley donut in Jacksonville Fl makes the WORST. My new favorite donut spot in Jax. Comparable to the style of donut at Five Daughters Bakery if you've been there. I went around 10:30 am on a Sunday, and they had a HUGE selection. Maybe I got a bad batch or maybe it's just me but these donuts have a weird oil taste. It leaves a really strange aftertaste.

Every donut shop tells you that are the bestdonut shop in town. But, sometimes they don't live up to their name. well, in the case of Shipley's, that was so not the case. I had been seen reviews and pictures pop up on Yelp, so when I was in the area, I had to stop by and check them out. I was able to walk up and order inside, since I had a little bit of time. I chose the Shipley's kolache with a hot dog and melted cheese filling, The cherry frosted donut, in a medium coffee with cream and sugar. Everything was out to me within a matter of minutes, and I was quickly able to check out. All of the employees were super friendly and assisted me quickly. When I bid into the collage, it was such a delicious treat. It was full of cheese it had plenty of meat and I quickly consumed it. The breading was really unique, almost like the dough was handmade. It remind me of when my mom used to make pigs in a blanket. I quickly scarfed down the donut too, which was full of flavor and had a crispiness to it that I really liked. The coffee tastes amazing, and I am slowly drinking on it in my car. I was really impressed with my visit and would highly recommend them. read more
