Heidi and her crew are AMAZING. My son wanted donuts for his birthday instead of cupcakes. My mom actually saw a photo of the birthday donuts on a post and I immediately had to order some. I went in and talked through to Heidi what we were wanting for his birthday. Avengers and some normal donuts WITH sprinkles of course. Haha. Heidi was extremely friendly and awesome to work with. Not only did it turn out perfect, but they also wanted to do a surprise batch for him. Needless to say they did an amazing job and my son wanted their surprise batch for his friends at school. The last time we were at a Shipley Do-Nuts were in Houston, TX. The donuts we had during that time were really good. Today we saw a Shipley Don-Nuts while we were on the other side of town and decided to get some. * Today I had the chocolate glazed donut. In my opinion it was just OK. The chocolate was good but the donut it self didn't really much taste other than dough. * My wife had the Blueberry Cake donut. She said it was good. I think these donuts at this location in Jax weren't the same when we had them in TX. Just a little disappointed. Maybe the problem was the time of day we were there. We arrived at 2pm and not a very big selection to choose from because they were out of a lot of varieties. The staff were super friendly! The shop was clean. read more

Used drive thru: Quick service Super friendly, even labeled the inside of my kolache box with the different types I ordered Food: My fave one is no longer there- chorizo, egg, and cheese kolache. This was always great, so hard to compare the others. Kolaches, good. Warm, soft bread, good flavor inside. Ordered the bold sausage and cheese with jalapeño, the bold sausage and cheese, and the ham and cheese. They are large, we cut them up for all to try and snack on. Donuts, good. Ordered 6 glazed, half plain and half chocolate. The chocolate doesn't really have a strong chocolate flavor unfortunately. read more

Stopped in for an early morning snack at this doughnut shop as they are open at 0500. Upon arrival, I noted that despite the early hour , the business was clean and that the shelves were stocked with an assortment of doughnuts (glazed, crème and jelly filled, as well bear claws and cinnamon rolls), muffins and kolaches. I opted for a cherry jelly filled doughnut and a cinnamon sugar doughnut with a plain black coffee and the staff gave me a glazed fresh out of the fryer for free. It took the young lady who was operating the cash register a little bit of time to ring up my order bc I had a coupon and she did not know how to ring it up. She actually overcharged me at first and I had to correct her and she got it right on the second time. The doughnuts were definitely fresh and made that morning, esp. the glazed out of the fryer - it melted in my mouth. The cherry filled was filled with a sweet cherry filling and the cinnamon sugar was perfectly dusted. Their coffee is a medium roast and comes out of the server really hot, I had to let it cool for several minutes before I could drink it. Recommend the trip, definitely better than most doughnut shops. They also have a drive through in case you are still in your pajamas. read more

Ordered online (which was convenient)Friday night for p/u Saturday morning at 8am. Picked them up from the drive thru and brought them home. Ordered several different kind including a couple apple fritters. Unfortunately both fritters were way overcooked to the point of being burnt on the ends and didn't contain much apple to be honest. We also got a cinnamon twist (which was huge) that was pretty good along with a cinnamon roll that my wife said didn't seem to have much cinnamon flavor. Wanted to also try a Kolache and got a sausage, egg & cheese, it was also huge but way too much bread and very little filling. The donuts we got were ok but not worth me driving 45 minutes to an hour to pick them up. I had hoped for more after reading all the positive reviews, but it's just not worth going that far for subpar results. read more

Visiting from Orlando, had to come here as my first pit stop. Placed my order online. Arrive 5 minutes before the pickup time, pull up to the drive thru - crickets. Pull up to the window - no one, and looks like they're closed w chairs on the counter. Pull around, park, go inside, empty aside from one employee. Ask about my order. "Oh, let me check." Prints it from the register/computer. "We don't have this in stock." You have got to be kidding me - The last time you also didn't have this same item available, which is a basic sausage/egg/cheese kolache, like come on. Goes in the back, talks to manager, comes back, "we have them, but they're frozen; it will take 15-20 minutes." So you're telling me that had you checked for online orders 15 minutes ago when I placed the order my order would been ready by now, but instead you were so busy doing nothing and now you expect me to wait? No, I want a refund. Finally gives me a refund, conveniently minus the $.60 tip. What about the tip? "Idk how to do that." Cool, I leave, call corporate. They claim they'll issue the refund for the tip. We are nearly a month later and still no refund of the tip. Call corporate again. They say they'll escalate it. Liars. I call my credit card company and dispute the fraudulent charge. ATP I don't recommend any Shipley Do Nut in the state of Florida. The one in Orlando is, was?, trash - orders wrong, has been shut down for months, etc. This one - also trash. There is a wide selection of donuts, raised, cake, with specialties with giant bear claws and apple fritters, as well as kolaches. I picked up a half dozen plus an apple fritter and a filled to order chocolate long john with vanilla cream. Their cake donuts stood out to me, moist and pleasantly sweet, while their topped raised donuts were good, but a little too sweet for my taste. In particular, their chocolate frosting is incredibly sweet, but if that's your thing, you'll love that kind of donut here. The apple fritter is absolutely huge and was pretty good, albeit a little dry. Still, I'd prefer a fritter that's a tad dry to an undercooked fritter any day (which I've sadly experienced a few times from some local shops). I spent about $15 on a half dozen, a fritter, and the filled long john and fed three hungry people with plenty of leftovers. If you're a cake donut fan, they are definitely worth a shot. read more

This review is for the one glazed donut I ate. Everyone in Jax knows The Donut Shoppe is the gold standard for donuts in town. Locally owned and operated for about 50 years, it should not be missed. I had read many great things about Shipley and I found myself on the right side of town to finally give them a try. Having just had breakfast, I decided I would try one solitary donut to determine if I would make the trek across town for the family one morning. Let me tell you for the donut I had today, this place would be worth the drive. The glazed yeast donut was one of the lightest and fluffiest donuts I've ever had - ever! It is right up there with the Donut Shoppe. If I had to choose a clear winner between the 2, it would be VERY tough. I don't think I could drive past one to get to the other so you should give them a try and decide for yourself. read more

Let me start by saying Brenda and Aubrey are now Cobb friends for life. We walked in the shop and they had basically been cleaned out. Brenda told us someone ordered 17 dozen then they had several other large orders. That being said, we waited because we're familiar with the Shipley brand. Our first experience was in Nashville, and we were in love. When people tell you customer service makes a brand, believe them. The staff at the Shipley's on Beach is the friendliest group of people. E is simple when it comes to donuts, give her a Boston Cream and she's in heaven. I am more of a fruit filling girl, but the buttermilk cake donut is FIRE! The best part, you can warm the donuts for a minute in a toaster oven and they are just as fresh as the moment they came from the grease. Not to mention the BIG RICH kolache. Had a fabulous experience at Shipley over the weekend! I was craving some donuts so I ordered through UberEats for pickup. I appreciate the fact that they offer this convenience even if it's at an up charge. When I arrived (with my toddler in tow) they had my order ready and asked if I needed a bag. The folks working were so kind asking if I needed anything else. Upon returning home I found everything neatly labeled to let me know what flavors were what. The donuts were so fresh! We got three filled donuts and the regular donuts as well as an Apple fritter and a cinnamon roll. I really enjoyed the maple donut as well as the lemon filled. The Apple fritter felt a tad over fried but was still delicious on the inside. I thought I died and had gone to heaven when it came to the cinnamon roll. Wow. Today was my 1st visit to Shipley's and I must say it did not disappoint. I wish I would have taken a photo of the selection wall but was to much invested in picking out my dozen donuts! Donuts are my weakness so I've been dying to visit since it opened. Like I said up above the selection wall to choose donuts was an outstanding visual. I ordered a dozen but was told the specialty donuts weren't in the mix of the dozen donuts. That definitely made sad but then again I understood. From my photo you can See I had Strawberry frosted, Glaze, a Chocolate with peanuts on top, vanillas frosted, Chocolate frosted, Devil's food, and Maple frosted. Next tome I go I will take timeout to sit and enjoy the donuts at the establishment and for sure try a specialty donut. I had my eye on the Apple Fritter that was bigger than my hand. So that specialty will be my target on my next visit. The establishment overall was very inviting and welcoming including the staff who smiled and greeted us upon entry. Only reason I didn't give it five stars because I was bummed out specialty donuts weren't included in the dozen. But other than that once I got home my girlfriend and her son and I devoured those donuts in a two day span. I swung by here one morning around 10am to grab some kolaches for my pal who is the biggest fan of pig in a blanket. Honestly though, who doesn't love hot dogs or sausages wrapped in bread?! Shipley is in a great location right on Kernan and Beach Blvd. There is ample parking solely for this business in the shopping center. I removed some stars because upon arrival, it took over 5 minutes for a staff member to greet myself and the other customer in the lobby (who was in the building before I arrived.) There were over three people working that were not tending to customers. I understand that employees can be held up with certain tasks or duties. However, it would improve service if you were at-least greeted and made aware of a potential wait. Especially considering the number of donut shops in Jacksonville!
