Better than Dunkin' different than KK, they usually have a pretty good selection (during the times I have stopped). They do offer kolaches, which to me are just fancy hot dog type sausages surrounded by a roll, they are ok, they don't seem as gross as eating a regular hot dog but probably are as gross! The Apple fritters are my favorite and they are monster size. You really need an appetite and a quart of cold milk when you eat it, but so good. By the time you say give me one of those, two of those, three of those, 4 kolaches, coffee, etc, you have spent $28 plus bucks so just enjoy the donut experience. Don't forget to tip! read more

5 stars for customer service!! Popped in here around 5:15 am to pick up some donuts before a trip. When I came in I was given a warm and friendly greeting by the team. I could tell they were pretty busy with their tasks and they said they were short staffed due to COVID, but nonetheless they were very kind and polite. They have a great selection of donuts (filled donuts, iced donuts, and fancy topping donuts) as well as some specialty baked goods (cinnamon rolls, etc) and hot snacks (kolaches) This was my first time at Shipleys, so I tried a couple items. The ham and cheese kolache was definitely my favorite item out of them all! Definitely recommend - imagine a light and soft bread roll stuffed with sliced ham (not chunks) and warm cheese! The flavor is spot on and it's the perfect size for a snack, breakfast, or lunch. You can definitely taste the freshness in the each bite. I also got a chocolate iced coconut doughnut and an Apple fritter. The donut was super yummy, a generous amount of coconut, accented well with the chocolate icing and cake donut. The Apple fritter was pretty good, it has a little bit hard for my preference (-1 star only for this reason) but it had an excellent apple flavor. There weren't many customers when I went, so I think the rush probably comes a little later. They also have a drive through which is a great option. It seems there is quite a few new doughnut shops have popped up, Shipley's being one of them! I got the chance to swing by and greatly appreciate the drive thru option. I ordered: -3 glazed ( they said they only had the ones with out holes at that time!?) which was fine with me, more doughnut for me! Lol! -3 filled, chocolate, Bavarian, raspberry....loved the Bavarian one like vanilla pudding so yummy! -2 Kolaches, ham and cheese and sausage cheese and jalapeño...yummy! Soft dough with savory fillings, I just with there was more filling inside I got bites of just dough. There's a new Texas based donut shop in town and unfortunately/fortunately for me it is less than 2 miles from my home. Shipley Do-Nuts delivered on the goods! After a few weeks of seeing all the Yelp and IG posts I had to check them out. My favorite donut growing up was a Long John. I was so excited to see their version called The Filled Bar. This was a long shaped glazed donut filled with white cream and iced with chocolate. The donut was soft, the white cream was sweet and the chocolate icing was so delicious! By far my favorite donut at Shipley's! I also ordered a strawberry glazed and a chocolate iced with walnuts. The chocolate iced with walnuts is my second-favorite. There were so many walnuts on top of the chocolate icing and the donut was super soft. They offer the convenience of a drive-through or you can go inside to order. Shipley Do-Nuts... the popular, Houston based donut shop, officially opened on Wednesday (12.9.2020), giving Jacksonville it's very first location on the East Coast. Grand Opening is normally chaotic. And boy they were busy. They were busier than a MADAFAKA. But despite the first day opening, I had a great experience here. The staff, nice, friendly and accommodating. I have witnessed an employee singing Christmas Songs that was playing on the radio. The staff greeting and asking if I have been helped. One staff was even passing out bags of Donut Holes (and Coffee) for those who have been waiting. It was a sight to see. It was definitely off the Donut chain. I really felt like I was inside the Willy Shipka and the Donut Factory. Despite the chaos, all the staff remained poised and friendly, as if they have been working together for months. So am I fan you may ask??? Ship YEAH!!! Taste wise, I loved the donuts. It was a little more dense compared to a normal yeast based donut, but was not too dense like a cake donut either. My husband is from Texas and he had been highly anticipating the opening of the shop for the filled donuts and kolaches. So early on a Saturday morning, on their first week of opening, I stopped by to grab a few things. I arrived around 5:45 AM and they were still putting out fresh donuts. The workers were enthusiastic and the managers were in full view ensuring that the operations moved smoothly. I got two glazed dozens, a half mixed dozen, and a couple of single donuts, as well as a sausage and cheese kolache. The donuts at Shipley's are soft and chewy and the glaze isn't very sweet. I don't usually order donuts with filling but I was delighted with the gooey apple and cinnamon compote that oozed out of their donut. And then there was the kolache. I think this was my first time having a kolache and while I was initially a little turned off by the sheer amount of oil seeping through the bag, when I tasted it, all was forgotten. The bread was so soft and although the "sausage" was essentially a hot dog, it was flavorful. The accompanying cheese wasn't overwhelming. I became an instant fan. It's opening week so I'm sure that things will improve, such as the lack of uniformity in the fry of the donuts as some of the glazed ones were much darker than the others. But, the tasty donuts and kolaches, good customer service, and reasonable prices make this place a winner. read more

Welcome to Shipley Do-nuts to Jacksonville! We came by here late morning and the cars were wrapped around the building-for the drive through. I wanted to go inside. So, I parked and went to the front. There was a line, but it moved very fast. I bought a 1/2 dozen donuts and 2 Kolaces(sausage and cheese). The employees were fast, peppy, friendly and gave me the information I needed to know. I ate a Bavarian filled donut and a apple filled donut. They were kind of like a cross between Krispy Kreme and Donut Shoppe. They were delicious. I have not tried the sausage and cheese breakfast items yet. I was impressed, but.......Donut Shoppe still has my heart. But, I am always open to new places to frequent though. read more

Been to this location a couple of times before. I and My Wife decided to go here for lunch today. We decided to have a capp and it was creamy and delicious. We also decided to order two Kolaches. One with eggs and sausage and the other with eggs and chorizo. They both were excellent and warm. We also decided to get a dozen of donuts as well for Her Children. They were tasty and delicious as well. I really like the galze that they use. Also, their donuts are so airy and not greasy like other donut places. We will return here again. read more

I was so happy when I saw Jacksonville was going to be blessed with a Shipley's that was located close to my house! We waited until later in the day to go check them out since this was opening day I didn't want to deal with a big crowd. So we definitely picked the right time to beat the crowd but we picked the wrong time to have a variety to choose from. We probably arrived around 5:15 and they only had glazed donuts left. This was perfect for me because that's all I wanted but my passengers were a little disappointed. Anyhow we ordered half a dozen just to make sure they were as good as I remember them from years ago. And thankfully they were! My son started wating his on the way home and repeatedly asked me why did I only purchase a half of a dozen. The donuts were hot, glazed and fried to perfection! Needless to say we don't have anymore left for tomorrow so I guess we'll be headed to Shipleys again but a little earlier this time. The staff was more on the conservative side. I think I was expecting more excitement for the first day open. Either way the donuts were great, staff had on masks and the inside appeared to be clean. OMG, this is a doughnut persons dream. Stopped by for the first time today. Judging by the line outside, this place is good. I waited for less than five minutes to get in place inside. Social distancing and masks required. Once inside, another few minutes and it was my turn. Where to start? I was getting two mixed dozen. One to drop at hubby's work and one for home. There are three full racks of assortments. You can pick anything from the top and bottom racks for the mixed dozens and the middle rack is single serve items. I got two dozen mixed of all kinds. I personally had the blueberry filled and it was delicious! Hubby had the chocolate iced with walnuts. He said it too was good. I asked how his team liked them and he said one guy was on his third so I would say they liked them too! They also offer kolaches and assorted breakfast drinks. So I decided to try Shipley's after the initial rush of people during their grand opening. It was...fine...I guess? I got three of their apple fritters, which I heard were outstanding. First let me say, these Fritters were massive. They felt like they weighed a pound each. So props on value. But the taste was ok. Not great. Not bad. Compared to a known entity like the apple fritters from Donut Shoppe and these pale in comparison. I guess those loyal to the brand outside of Florida really love Shipley's. I'm not sure what kind of love and happiness that they put in their donuts at this location, but they are delicious. In addition, the staff were absolutely delightful. The morning that we went they had been donut assaulted by multiple dozens of orders and were wiped out. As a result, they were sold out of some of the donut flavors that we wanted. That said, the staff was nice enough to make us fresh donuts in the flavors that we requested. That's the kind of service that is hard to find these days as most places would say "too bad, so sad". In addition, I had a chance to try the "Big Rich" which had chorizo, egg and cheese - splendid. If you're ever on Beach and want a donut from some very nice people, go here. read more

Stopped in for the first time, it was late in the day so selection was limited. The items we did choose were super fresh and tasty .

Ordered the jalapeño kolache and a few donuts. Donuts are soooooo soft and pillowy fluffy. the toppings are standard donut quality. so it's the bread that makes these donuts worth it! The kolache has the same yummy bread and fresh filling. we came late so we were limited to only two flavors: ham/cheese and ham/cheese/jalapeño. we went with the latter. i wish we ordered more. hopefully next time we can try their other kolaches. we went through the drive-thru and the staff had wonderful service. hopefully next time we can try the other kolaches. read more

How could I ever rate a donut poorly? Sweet rings of sugary goodness, I love you! And thankfully (or maybe not so much for my waistline) this new-comer to the donut scene is right in my neighborhood. I attempted my first trip on day 2 or 3 after the grand opening and was met with a drive-thru line circled around the building. I waited about 8 minutes until my baby in the backseat very I politely shared how over it he was, so I decided to try again another day. A week or so later, I stopped by and went inside. I was number two in line, but the process took quite a bit longer than expected because, unfortunately, their computer system went down right as the person in front of me tried to pay. As the line built up, management tirelessly worked to fix it and after about 5ish minutes things were fired back up and functioning as normal. The donuts? DE LISH US. I can't say that it's my absolute favorite donut, but for the price and location, it's near the top of the list. They do have a decent selection, but there wasn't much to pick from by the time I got there a little after the breakfast rush. I have noticed, though, that they started publishing daily specials on their Instagram! So I'm pretty excited to try some of those soon, along with their delicious looking kolaches. read more

So I heard this place was known somewhere up north for their donuts & oh my... worth every bit of calorie. Very well priced for their half & full dozen! I also have not heard of kolaches (kuh-la-chee) & they're basically a sausage/hotdog sandwich of some sort & the dough is amazing! It's like a cross between a croissant & a biscuit. It's very light in texture. I feel like I would be more likely to come back for the kolache than the doughnut, but both are tasty for sure. 10:30 on a Sunday. Waited in drive thru for about 15 minutes. Only 2 cars ahead of me. Got to the order menu no one said a word. Okay must be busy inside, im not in a rush. Waited a couple of minutes, I said hello, someone then replied "we'll be with you in a second". Ok no worries. Finally get to order and they're out of a specific kolache I wanted. So I chose something else. Then I ask for blueberry cake donuts and they don't have any for the day. The weekend has to be their busiest time. So you would assume they try to be ahead on items. Keep in mind this is not the first time I've been there and they've been out of multiple items. And it's not even close to closing time. It took a few times for me to finally be irritated enough and to see enough of a pattern to write a poor review. Drove from the west side over to this place because I had been wanting to try it. Got a 1/2 dozen order of kolaches and a dozen assorted donuts and 1/2 dozen glazed. The kolaches are either sausage, sausage with jalapeño or ham and cheese. We got 2 of Shipleys bold sausage and 3 Shipleys bold jalapeño sausage and one ham and cheese. I really liked these they had good flavor. I do wish the bread was closer to it or that the ham and cheese had more meat. I will say that I reheated one of the sausage ones in the air fryer later that evening and it was still yummy. We got a dozen assorted donuts, strawberry filled, Bavarian cream, chocolate filled, And a chocolate glazed with walnuts and a couple cake donuts and 1/2 dozen freshly cooked glazed donuts. I tasted the strawberry filled, the cake and the chocolate iced, the fresh glazed. I will say I wish I had sat in the parking lot and ate them fresher, although the glazed were still warm when I got home. I will definitely return but might picnic in the parking lot! read more

I kept passing this place all the time! I finally got a chance to try it out. When I walked in it was very clean and there was a huge assortment of donuts! At first I wasn't sure which donut to get but the maple bacon caught my eye. I also was curious what the kolache was so I got a cheese and jalapeño one. The maple bacon is self explanatory, it's good! You put bacon on any thing and BAM you got a hit! It was sweet and savory and that's my favorite combo! Also, a plus is that it wasn't dry! I've been to certain donut places that look great, but unfortunately they were drier than a desert. The kolache reminded me of a bigger version of a pigs in a blanket. I wasn't a fan of the type of cheese in it but other than that, it was good. I would say if you're looking for a donut place with many flavors, try them out! We to Shipley donuts at 3pm on a Wednesday. I asked for a cinnamon roll. They were out of almost everything. Seems they wanted to close early so they started throwing them away. So I had limited choices. When I asked why they were closing early I was told bc they had been there since 4am. On the way to their drive thru their garbage was a disgusting mess.
