These are probably some of the best donuts I've had in my life!!! And thats a pretty big statement for me because I looove donuts. I'm so sad that I live in Vegas and can only get these donuts when I'm visiting my family. But I'm happy that I live far away because then I'd be getting these pretty often and my blood sugar would be skyrocketing. These donuts are so light and fluffy. And their blueberry cake donuts, to die for! I hate that saying, but I will say it for the blueberry cake donuts. I usual don't like cake donuts either, but these are different. They aren't dense or dry. It's the complete opposite. We literally get a dozen of the blueberry cake; they are that good. No idea why this place gets such high marks. My photo will illustrate exactly one of the main reasons I've gone out of my way to shade this poor excuse of a donut shop. First off I paid 14.00$ for 8 donuts. My question should have been are these day old? But I wouldn't have known that until I got home and ate one, best way to describe it, stale! This donut was dry and not good at all, it was a thin crunchy cinnamon twist, it had to have been made the day before I bought it. Now for the smoke and mirrors of this place, they put everything into a tiny box, this way their tiny donuts look bigger. We ate 2, well we choked down 2 and threw the others out. I put a pen next to the twist, dry, small and flavorless. I made a huge mistake today because I was in a hurry, because I always go a mile away to The Best Donut place in Hendersonville. Where donuts are made the way they should, warm, soft, melt in your mouth and a place where the cinnamon rolls are 3 times the size with 10 times the taste. So today's failure is all mine. The great thing about failure though is not repeating it, so I'll never go to Shipley's ever again! read more

I always enjoy visiting local when I can and you dont get much more local than Shipleys. We arrived toward the end of the day, which was a mistake because there wasnt much for us to choose from. We managed to snag some donut holes and a couple of chocolate milks. The cashier was friendly and the price was decent. We took are bag of holes and headed out. The donuts were fresh and tasty just wish we had more of a variety but as they say, the early bird gets the whole donut. read more

I've been coming here for nearly 20 years. I've had donuts all over The USA and South America and I have yet to find a shop that has an overall quality and taste as good as this locations Donuts. Every time I fly back in to visit home, the one thing in common with every visit is my stop by Shipley Do-Nuts to grab a dozen donuts and chocolate milk. Jeannie Slaton always knows I want a chocolate iced donut and my chocolate milk every time I swing by. These donuts aren't too sweet. They are light and most (not powdered sugar) are delicious the next day. Can't wait to eat them again.

While in Nashville this weekend, I wanted to try local donuts. Shipleys is 10 minutes from our hotel. I managed to resist going at 5 AM, instead venturing out at 6:30. Probably a good thing , too; they are in a strip mall in a slightly sketchy area so I might not have stopped otherwise. There were only two customers ahead of me on a Sunday morning. I hear there is normally more of a line. The lady ahead of me raved about the place. They had a full stock of donuts and kolaches (I almost missed the latter until another customer ordered one). I ended up with an assortment of filled donuts, powdered cake donuts, and an apple fritter. The fritter was the best of the bunch, filled with apples and very tender. It would be in my husband's top five. The apple filled donut was equally good. These are soft donuts, moist instead of dry. The cake donut was adequate, but to be fair we didn't touch them until the next day so on day one they were probably really good. If you are looking for good basic donuts, definitely give these a try. read more

Stopped by Shipley donuts in Hendersonville today. We were greeted with smiles and even several people saying "good morning". After ordering, I took a look around this quaint place and noticed several articles framed on the walls. I saw the history of this family owned and operated business. They've been in business since 1936 and have been in several locations across the US. Then I saw their review from the health department with a score of 100! I have not seen many of those for sure. So, if you want to experience a friendly, small-town-mentality with supreme customer service, drop by for some amazing tasty donuts. If you happen to come by early enough, you might even get to sit and talk with some of the town's wisest men who seem to congregate for some good old fashioned conversation...sans electronic devices. The epitome of doughnuts is Sweetwater's Donut Mill in Michigan. Hot yeast donuts from Shipley are pretty good though. They have good service, decent selection. It's a delightful place from which to buy delightful donuts of yeast and cake. read more

My favorite donut style is cake, which is perfect for dunking. I really like that Shipley provides both yeast and cake donuts. Krispy Kreme is good, but they really don't offer much in the way of cake style. They're all about yeast dough. I prefer Shipley not only because of the variety of cake style donuts, but they also make danish and donut holes, something Krispy Kreme doesn't do. Like many private owned donut shops, Shipley closes in the early afternoon so don't expect them to be open late like the chain places. Everything has always tasted fresh and good. My only complaint is during warm or hot weather, it can be hot inside as well. Their air conditioning is either turned off, or they keep it set at a higher temperature. They are my favorite donut shop in the area. read more

Get the plain glazed hot. Amazing experience. Best yeast donuts in the area. Cake donuts are average and I don't recommend the apple fritters. But those yeast donuts are absolutely amazing. The staff are extremely friendly and they will show little ones around the bakery area if you bring them in. Great family atmosphere and a delicious product. I went in a few days ago and the cc machine was down so they just sent me on my way with free donuts. Came back today to buy more and pay for the old and the son handed his mom the $10 saying, "mom here's more from Thursday." Love Shipley Donuts and I've been a customer since my family moved to Hendersonville. For my money, Shipley makes the best glazed donuts I've ever eaten. The donut holes are incredible. Typically warm donuts are available every morning as they keep the stock turned frequently. Love the owners and they provide consistently friendly and personable service.
