I've been frequenting this Shipley's for a while now. I gave it three stars for the initial visits; even had a car meet up here before heading off into the Hill Country. As I stated in my first review, something was off with the prices. So, I did some digging. Even called Shipley's Corporate and asked for an explanation. Never even got a call back! One morning for kicks I called the Shipley's over in South Austin and started asking prices. South Austin Boudin Kolache price - $2.99. Over here in Richey Rich land $5.50. First, it smells delicious. I practically floated into the store from the scent. I haven't actually had any donuts, but I have had their kolaches multiple times. If you get there early enough, you can get your hands on their amazing brisket kolache. It's good with or without the barbecue sauce. I am practically drooling just thinking about that kolache right now. If you aren't there early enough, they have a bunch of other yummy kolaches like sausage and cheese or boudin. My coworkers tell me that the cinnamon twists and all of the fun donuts are really good, too. I went in one weekday afternoon and hit the jackpot (assuming they may have been close to closing time). I ordered two brisket kolaches and a blueberry donut. The lady behind the counter was so sweet. She threw in another kolache to taste, another blueberry donut and a cake donut. Woooboy!! I am sad to say that I left this Shipleys location after working here for well over two years. As a customer I can say that this is the type of place where even just liking a couple specific items is more than enough to keep you coming back again and again! And if there is anything specific you want or want a certain way then the Shipleys crew will always go above and beyond to talk to find that out and get it done for you as quick as they can! Now as an employee i can honestly say that this Shipleys location could not have come into my life at a better time. Everyone there is always so welcoming and open and super fun to work with, that I was always happy to go in that morning and look forward to the day. The people here really did treat me like family and I have made connections there that I will treasure forever. I grew to know my regular morning customers very well and grew strong respect for them as well! Bee cave truly has some hard workers who can make you see things from a new perspective. I will miss Shipleys and forever hold them in a special place in my heart. For being so welcoming to me and for continually giving me knowledge of top notch customer service and honor of your word. After my family lake vacation, my husband and I were interested in trying Shipley's Donuts. I heard they were pretty well known with several locations. We got two iced coffees, make sure you ask for cream and sugar because they are black coffee. We also got a Cherry Red Iced Donut, Cinnamon Twist, Apple Fritter, and a Oreo donut. The cherry red donut doesn't actually taste like cherries, but it is very pretty! The cinnamon twist was different from others, very delicious. It's not just a long glazed donut with cinnamon. The apple fritter was way bigger than I thought! Could not eat all of it in one sitting. The Oreo donut had a cream on top with crushed Oreos. I think a kid would love it. When we go back, we are definitely getting the cinnamon twist again. The customer service was fast and courteous, even amid the Covid 19 changes. Will come back! read more

I ordered a ham and cheese kolache (and 6 doughnuts to go) and the kolache was not hot, the bread was hard, and there was barely any cheese. I'm sorry to say but this is a common problem! But let's be honest Shipley's isn't supposed to be known for their service ). First, it's 5:45, and there's NO hot donuts. I took my 3 girls to Shipley's the other day and had the best experience. They were so friendly and patient with three kids picking out donuts. The selection was huge. They had a large chalk board for the kids to color on and even had a large viewing window in the back so we could watch the action. My kids loved the donuts, I had the Kolache and thought they were great. You could tell they make everything fresh daily unlike many shops around town. Plenty of seating as well.
