Desired Diesel - Not just trucks but all builds!

Desired Diesel

(5 reviews)

I would NOT recommend Desired Diesel based on my experience…read more I originally dropped my truck off to have an oil leak repaired. When I brought my truck to this shop, I was able to drive it there myself, and there was NOTHING wrong with my turbo or radiator. I was originally told that my truck would be ready within a week. While my truck was there, the owner repeatedly tried to sell me a turbo replacement even though I had not been experiencing any turbo problems before bringing my truck in. I declined because, again, there was nothing wrong with my turbo when the truck was dropped off. The original completion date continued to get pushed back. When I showed up approximately three days after the initial completion date to check on my truck, I noticed that the owner himself was not the only person working on it. There appeared to be hired help/other mechanics working on the truck. There is absolutely nothing unusual about a shop having multiple mechanics, but it became concerning after the problems I discovered afterward. When I finally picked my truck up, it was immediately not running the same way it was when I dropped it off. By the next day, the truck was smoking and having problems that DID NOT exist before Desired Diesel had possession of it. I also discovered that the nipple on my radiator had been cracked, which caused a coolant leak. I was initially told that the hoses were causing the coolant leak, and the hoses were replaced. However, the leak was actually coming from the cracked radiator. My radiator was not cracked or leaking like this before the truck was left in their care. The situation with the turbo became even more concerning after I took the truck to another mechanic. After removing and inspecting the turbo, I was told by that mechanic that, in their opinion, the type of damage they found was not consistent with normal daily driving. They told me the damage appeared consistent with a foreign object, such as a rock or piece of metal, getting into the turbo and causing damage. To be clear, I cannot personally say exactly what happened to the turbo or whether the damage was intentional or accidental because I was not there when it happened. What I CAN say is that my turbo was functioning when I drove the truck to Desired Diesel, I was repeatedly encouraged to purchase a turbo while the truck was there, I declined, and I picked my truck up with turbo problems that were not present before. Another mechanic later inspected the turbo and told me the damage they found was not consistent with normal daily driving. The owner comes across as very knowledgeable, seems to have an answer for everything, and is a good salesman. However, whether my turbo and radiator were damaged accidentally by someone working on the truck or something else happened, these problems did not exist before I left my truck in their care. If damage occurs to a customer's vehicle while it is in a repair shop's possession, I believe the shop should take responsibility for it. I should not have to pay thousands of dollars more to repair a turbo and radiator that were functioning properly before my truck was left with them. I brought my truck to Desired Diesel for an oil leak. I left dealing with a damaged turbo, a cracked radiator, a coolant leak, smoke, and additional repair expenses. Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend this shop. If you decide to take your vehicle here, I strongly recommend taking detailed pictures and videos beforehand, documenting how the vehicle is running, getting every diagnosis and recommendation in writing, and getting a second opinion before agreeing to any major "additional recommended services."

My Experience…read more Pricing - it's fair and reasonable Turnaround Time - a couple of days Quality of work - after 3 trips to the shop (1 hour drive) my truck is still leaking oil from my oil pan and rear main seal. I now have to pay another shop to do the same job I already paid this shop to do. My truck has recently been painted and I now have scratches on the bed of my truck that previously wasn't there. The owner offered to get the scratches buffed but after the 3 incidents I thought it was best to get my truck and part ways before things escalated. Treatment - the owner went ahead and fixed a leak on my transfer case, other leaks on my transmission and didn't charge me extra. The shop also tried to figure out why my dsp5 wouldn't work and think it's my wire harness. End result - I received $700 back from my bill which is cool and now have to go spend another $2,000+ to have another shop do the job correctly the first time. Once again this is my experience. 9/18/25 - 10/2/25
