I came to shiny nails after reading the past reviews. I got a fill and pedicure...there was no other customers in the shop yet when I arrived all 3 techs were face first in there phones then look up at me and ask what I wanted, they told me to sit then proceeded to put the plastic cover on then filled the tub up with cold water didn't ask me how the water was the lady doing my pedicure was the worst she gouged my feet up so bad she scrubbed skin off on the side of my foot and when I said ow and pulled away she kept trying to scrub the same area! Now I have an infected gash on my foot, she dug around all my toenails till they bled. she didn't ask or clip my toenails and didn't put any lotion on with the half ass 1 min massage!. She got mad when I told her for the 5th time I just wanted the regular pedicure, what I got was definitely not worth $20 and now I'm having to treat my infected foot. I just wanted a nice pedicure that I could wear sandals with and now I have to cover it with a huge bandage and shoes. My fill came out ok but there was a lot of acrylic residue left in my nails and he still managed to Knick my thumb and the paint job was already bubbling when I left. They hit 2 birds with one stone which made so much faster to finish. I love how much softer my feet got. The girl cleaned off all my dead skin and very well! When looking for a nail shop, I have three criteria. Cleanliness, skill and rapport with my nail tech. If one of those three is missing, I move on. I got all three from Shiny Nails. This place is relatively new, just a year in business and I know they are eager to please. I like that! I got a small bottle of water as soon as I sat down and my nail tech Kevin also turned the massage thingy on. I love that they have those plastic covers on the spa pedicure basins to ensure that it is 100% sanitary. I did not see it for myself but I am pretty sure they clean their implements after each and every client. I suggest that after the nail tech is done, he/she should collect all implements and let the client see that all items are being washed/sanitized, or alternatively, show that the implements are "fresh," by perhaps unwrapping it, just like at the dental office. Small gesture but it gives the client peace of mind. My tech asked me how I liked my French tips done and asked a couple more times, as he worked, if everything was okay. I had all the chances I needed to make sure that I was satisfied with the work. I was. BTW, Kevin asked if I wanted a pink tinge and I said yes, but it made the French tip pinkish so he took it off and repainted my big toe. Yup, as clients, we have a responsibility to speak up as soon as we know there is something wrong. Now a tip to all those who want to leave happy - set your expectations right off the bat. That way, you don't sound overly critical when you point out things that are not working for you. Or perhaps, the better way would be for the salon to ask a standard set of questions to make sure all bases are covered, and to make sure that the service provided by all nail technicians are consistent. I would love to see all names of the technicians in the reviews, not just Rachel's. That way, clients don't feel bad that they didn't get Rachel. I am tired of moving from one salon to another and I want this business to flourish. I will do my part to make sure I leave happy and satisfied by doing my part and speaking up to let them know what I want. I hope you will, too. read more

Lived down the street from this place for the longest and finally wanted to give this nail shop a try after knowing they remodeled it recently. The prices are reasonable with excellent service! I paid $30 for a gel fill when I used to pay $40 elsewhere. While I waited, they brought out water bottles for everyone. I'm so impressed with my nails (done by Rachel)! I'm so bummed I have to write this review. I really loved Rachel and her designs she does an amazing job, BUT the liquid monomer she uses is mma and not ema. MMA is so bad for ur nails and causes damage after prolonged use (look it up) and is banned I found out when I had to take my nails off The soak for one nail took 4 hour literally, and even then I still had to chip at it to get it off. By the time I got it off my real nail was so damaged and brittle if u dont mind that and prefer nice designs then by all means go to Rachel she is very sweet and can do one hell of a job on designs and shapes but the MMA is what ended it for me. I just got my nails done and when I stepped outside this is how my nails turned out. The way my nails look will speak for itself on how this young guy does nails. When I showed him my nails he kept justifying himself as if it was my fault that my nails came out the way it did. There was a few times I had to ask him to repeat and speak up because of my hearing aid that I'm still getting used to and with the mask it was harder to make out what he said. I'm supposed to go back there tomorrow so he can redo my nails but I'm so upset right now that I don't feel like going back because I just feel like they were mocking me. When I left the salon I heard this other guy laughing. I'm pretty sure he was laughing about me not being able to hear and how the guy had to speak up. This is my family's new fave nail salon. Rachel is so amazing. She got great skills especially with nail art designs. Not only does she do nails, she also do eyelashes extensions, she's great at what she does. She's very skilled and sweet too. I took a chance and came here for the first time. There are only a handful of places open on a Sunday which is usually the only day I can go get my nails done. I didn't have to wait at all which was nice. I came to get a fill and the girl knew I had done my nails elsewhere. She asked where I got my full set done and how much. I told her I had got a new acrylic set with gel for $35. She didn't offer me the color swatches or asked what shaped I wanted my nails. She said she didn't like how the previous place shaped my nails (shocking!). She shaped them like almond which I didn't like. I told her I wanted it to be more flat at the top. I like my nails coffin shaped. She didn't take that into consideration or just didn't understand what I said. She shaped my left hand differently than my right, which annoyed me since she didn't even check to see if they were even. At the end she said I couldn't do it perfect since I didn't get it done initially at their salon. She charged me $27 for a refill with gel. Even if she had done my nails how I wanted it that is still too expensive! I won't be back for sure It also took her more than 1 hour to do a refill! read more
