I've been to this grocery store throughout the years purchasing Japanese products, usually ramen, snacks, pasta sauce, and freshly made onigiri. The store has plenty of Japanese sauces, teas, snacks, noodles, condiments, and a small section of frozen foods and produce. Half of the store also has Japanese porcelain - bowls, plates, cups, etc. The staff are always super friendly and if you want to use visa there is a $10 minimum spend (which is hard not to do). Sometimes in the summer Sanko also has a clearance sale where you can get discounted Japanese porcelain for cheap (sometimes the bowls and cups have some imperfections but they are not that noticeable). Overall, my fave Japanese grocery store in the Trinity Bellwoods are! A must visit if you want to find some Japanese groceries or porcelain.

In the end, I decided to buy elsewhere since the prices here are heavily marked up by 2 times or more compared to other stores. They sell Onigiri but it's overpriced and too much rice with very little filling. This store also doesn't accept cash if your purchase is less than 10 bucks. Location is closer to me but I'd rather go to other Asian stores selling way cheaper alternatives for Japanese good/pantry staples.

The most special thing of it is that it has a kitchen that provides Taiwanese food. You can buy Taiwanese-style Bento (lunchbox). We ordered fried chicken and pork chop bentos this time. The fried food was very chripsy and flavourful. The rice was cooked very delicately, just like how Taiwanese chefs do. They were a bit pricy but it's invaluable to let people from Taiwan to feel the sense of reminiscence of hometown.

I have passed by this Bestco countless times over the years. It occupies the former Sobeys grocery store. I needed to get dumpling wrappers and thought that I'd try my hand getting them here. I was here a couple of Saturdays ago after having lunch in Ajax. It was maybe a five-minute drive over here. I found a decent parking spot near the entrance. I backed into a spot and walked in. I love visiting a new supermarket. This Asian supermarket was bright and had a lot of merchandise. I don't think that I saw everything during my brief visit. Japanese curry cubes greeted me when I walked into the store. It's almost as if this store knows that I like using them. I then saw chicken bouillon in individual packets. I then saw cans of SPAM. I love SPAM. Again, I felt like I was targeted, but it a good way. The beauty section was extensive. From hair dyes to facial masks, it was fascinating to browse. I love Choco Pie. Next to it was Oreo's version of socola pie. I got the strawberry flavour with dark chocolate that enrobed it. So good! Each pie is small, so having two at a time is my recommendation. This box of twelve came with two bonus pies. Yay! I found the wonton and dumpling wrappers, which are next to an extensive tofu section. There were a ton of wrappers to choose from. So much variety! I got my dumpling wrappers and was thrilled. Everything else was a bonus that I saw and picked up. Two of my childhood recess snacks were here: - Haw flakes - White rabbit candy My mom was great making sure that I had snacks. Recess was for playing outside. I did that and snacked. The kitchen section is amazing. You can get hot foods by weight. There was also dim sum, barbequed goods, onigiri, sushi, and more. I saw fried rice noodles. They are my favourite. I got it for $9.99. The woman seemed to pack noodles into a container so much that I don't know how she managed to close it! I was also thrilled that this store has Sac Sac, a peeled grape drink. I had it at a Yelp event maybe a year ago. I loved it so much that I knew that I had to get a can. I got a nice woman at the checkout. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I grabbed my goods and headed to my car. My hot rice noodles went into an insulated bag. The rest went into a reusable one. I cracked open my Sac Sac drink and drove home drinking it. I should have bought another one. It was yummy. Oh, how I've missed a drink with tender, skinless grapes. I loved shopping at this Bestco. It's not as crazy parking-wise than the Scarborough one. I'd return here for everything. The csabai sausage intrigued me. I'll need to try some. (446)

My parents have been a long time customer of this place and we used to come here to buy fish balls, beef balls and cuttlefish balls for hot pot. Now, i keep inventory of assorted fish balls in my freezer which comes in handy when you are too lazy to whip up a big meal. If i am too lazy to fry luncheon meat to go with my instant noodles, i will throw in some fish balls to cook with my ramen. The joys of efficiency~ They also sell fish paste and noodles made with minced fish. I sometimes buy curry paste and mix it with the fish paste to make thai fish cakes. The fish noodles are fantastic in miso soup with some seaweed and a bunch of green onions. Fishballs make a great addition to laksa too! If you like HK style curry fishballs and meat balls, they sell tubs of curry that tastes authentic and definitely has a kick. I always keep a tub in my fridge! For those who avoid MSG, you will want to sit this one out. They have industrial sized bags of MSG that are right by the front entrance so i am sure it contributes to its tastiness.

Let's start with the prepared foods counter, which consists of a number of warming trays for hot items, a counter with a stack of steamers for dim sums, and the typical chinese BBQ display window, with the hanging, reddish-hewed ducks and pork sides. My husband and I have found some of their take out foods to be on the bland side, but the BBQ and the bakery items are total winners. My daughter loves to get a take-out combo tray of BBQ pork (char sui) and roasted pork belly for her workday lunches. We also love to take the BBQ pork buns camping or on road trips. They make a very tasty, clean, hand-held snack. I've also tried their dim sum, and it was very good, for dim sum prepared and then held warm for a while. Their Youtiao (fried dough sticks), shao mai and har gao are always great. They've recently introduced stuffed tofu to the dim sum counter, and I will have to give that a try. The meats, from both the Halal and Non-Halal counters are excellent. The have very competitively priced meat that it always fresh. Pacific also has some great weekly specials, many from their seafood counter. Once, I bought snapper for a fraction of what it would cost in a mainstream grocery store. I've had their lobsters and crabs too: all excellent. Now, moving to the produce aisles, you will find a vast assortment of exotic fruits (what else should I call them? are Dragonfruits and Mangosteen exotic??? Or am I indulging in Orientalism). This section of the store smells beautiful, fragrant with ripe fruit. The produce aisles also boast a copious selection of Chinese greens, such as Yu Cai and Snow Pea Tips, which the regular grocery stores do not carry. Finally, the dry goods aisles offer many good deals on all sorts of things, and is a great source for all the chinese and japanese sauces that you could ever wish for. It's such a pleasure to have this wonderful supermarket so close to home!

If I want something in particular, I pretty much never find it here, or I find a weird brand I haven't tried. It's a really clean store and well organized. Staff are super friendly. The hot food table has a few options, plus there's a sushi stand, but I think the food is just so-so. We've not quite enjoyed the quality there, but I think it's fair to say that most of these types of eateries are not the best. They make everything in a large batch, and while some flavours hint at authenticity, the quality is quite meh. Again, great place to go for your basic necessities and pricing is fair.

There's quite a vast selection from produce, meats & seafood to Asian drinks and hot food.
