We were recommended to try the Himalayan Dine In. What a great recommendation! The service was great as was the food. If I lived in Airdrie, I'd be a regular. I wish I recalled the host's name as he was fabulous and really made us feel at home. He patiently walked us through Nepalese and North Indian options. We all had something different and all were very happy with our choices.

On our journey to Giffnock we kept getting stuck in traffic and roadworks, basically everything was thrown in our way. Anyway my friend called them to let them know we were running late, they were absolutely fine about it. I had checked online where the restaurant was on the map but as we nearing the place my friend said it was down a completely different street. So I quickly turned down the road she pointed to which led to Giffnock train station and there enough was the restaurant. Hmm??! I was bamboozled! So we headed in and I apologised for our lateness and said about our booked table. The waiter grunted and looked at me strange but led us to a booth set out for two. The food was delicious and the service was good too. It was a nice cosy restaurant and I would definitely go again. Anyway it still puzzled me that I had thought the restaurant was in another street. Well I only found out not long after that there is a "New" Turban Tandoori only 5 minutes from where we were. Doh! So no wonder the waiter looked confused at me. The poor other restaurant possibly thought we got lost and didn't bother to turn up. Oops!!! I'll just have to go to the "New" one another day.

My thought's are that there must have been a bane Marie at the back holding the sauces hot and ready to go, just to add the main item to the sauce such as chicken, beef, lamb, vegetables. Deplorable, complete lack of service…read more Called at around 10.30pm on a Saturday last month, to request an order for delivery of a large pizza and chips. I was first asked for the address, which was in Airdrie, 2.4 miles or 9 mins away (google maps). After specifying what I would like to be delivered, I was told that my order wouldn't be possible to that address. Initially, I accepted this, before calling back to ask why. (It seemed to me that the order was not big enough to justify the effort) I asked why it wouldn't be possible, stating that I'd had it delivered there before, to be told: - it would take too long - we only have one driver - our "local regular" customers (of which I am one!) would have to wait longer if (IF!) they ordered. Determined, I asked if there was an extra surcharge that I could pay for the extra few minutes delivery, at which point the woman on the call told me that I was being "a spoiled brat". I asked if I could speak to the manager to find out why my business was not wanted, at which point I was told that she "was too busy and that I would be stopping other people placing their orders", before the phone was put down on me. Disgusting, disrespectful behaviour. Wouldn't know customer service if it hit them in the face.

To start we had a sharing platter and it was very tasty and just the right amount with 3 dipping sauces, delish! I had lamb cooked on the bone in a sauce blended with spinach n touch of cream (soz cannae mind name) with Desi Rice, absolutely beautiful....the naan was light and not the usual doughy naan. This was adequate enough, but was akin to finding your previously 'normal' auntie hitting her mid-life crisis and dressing like a teenager: it was still yer auntie but wasn't quite right? However, the HRT's kicked in and the universe has restored the balance once again. Re-opened as The Dalshannon Farm again, and focusing on its inarguable previous strengths, 'The 'Dal...' is back to what brought us there before; excellent Indian cuisine with its own wee twist, brisk but friendly service, and a genuine warm welcome. Both of us kept it simple for our inaugural revisit, kicking off with a sturdy mixed platter starter to share, the mixed pakoras, onion rings, chicken wings and samosas arriving quickly and piping hot. Look out for the delicious haggis pakoras, a wee diamond. Our main courses followed, both with fried rice; chicken jaipoori, sizzling with peppers and onions, and an amazingly flavoursome lamb bhoona in a desi style. My first time with this, but certainly not the last. The lamb was beyond tender, with a nice kick but without the pain of a careless hand on the spice mill. The portion was such that dessert was off the cards for tonight, but if the sweets are a reflection of the quality savouries, next visit could be a long one. A nice touch is the wee snug bar as you come in. Pleasant without being bland, and definitely a gathering point for local cognoscenti sharpening their appetites from a well stocked bar. It's easy to be disappointed these days, as restaurants appear, take your dosh and fade away, so it's refreshing to see that quality, well priced food in comfortable surroundings can still come with a smile. Is it my most favourite first go to place? Not exactly - The Den is my most favourite place in the world, but sometimes I don't want to drive a 15 miles round trip for a curry! Having this place within a mile is a god send & I know it's fresh, cooked with care & the service is warm and friendly. This is a place where everyone is a regular & knows everyone. That in part is what makes this a great place. You don't have a raft of passers by, so in order to keep regulars you can't disappoint them with sub standard food. (You won't get the generic 'tomato' base for every single dish here!) We show our faces around 2-3 times a month here & have done for nearly 4 years now. As long as this place is still around and we live here, it will be the same for the next 4 years. They have recently opened a huge hall on the back, so larger parties and events are also catered for.
