I was incredibly excited to try this place as I have been wanting to try a place with sushi on a revolving line. The sushi itself was really delicious. It was fresh and you can order whatever you want too. there was a line that we waited about 25 minutes. You have to come in and sign the paper yourself. They call your name. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is only a few places to sit down and they don't call your phone number when it's your turn.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the sushi on the revolving line moves pretty fast so that can be a little frustrating. The service was great. Our waitress was wonderful and the people behind the sushi counter were both very nice and helpful.

This is my second time going to this place and I love this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I recommend for you to get a table close to the boats with plates of sushi that are going around the restaurant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They charge you per plate that you eat and each plate has different prices. They don't take reservations so you would have to go in person and put down your name. They usually have a long line. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food is delicious but this restaurant is not good for big groups because the space is limited.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you go to this restaurant with a big group you will most likely not sit together and you will be charge a big group fee for it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My favorite sushi roll they have is the special shrimp tempura that has fish eggs on top of the sushi. The service is good but if you stay too long at your table the server will tell you when you have to leave. There is a limit time per table. The parking is free and close to the restaurant.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Shima Japanese Restaurant offers one of the most fun and unique dining experiences around![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The star of the show is the little river that runs through the center of the sushi bar, with small wooden boats floating by, carrying an endless variety of fresh sushi.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You just reach out and grab what looks good and trust me, a lot looks good. The sushi is incredibly fresh and expertly prepared. Each plate was well-balanced, and beautifully presented. The sushi is top tier for a strip mall location in Hialeah. The chefs behind the counter were constantly replenishing the boats with new selections, so there was always something different floating by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is lively and there's usually a wait, but it moves quickly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect for date night or a fun dinner with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is always warm and welcoming, and happy to explain how everything works for first-timers. This is my favorite local gem, a few min from Home.

Me and my family have visited this sushi spot. My sister in law and brother in law are regulars here. Our servers name was Sandra which she was very attentive and professional. On the other hand there is a server named Cassandra that was very rude and was telling us that we only have 10 mins. She projected in a rude way and told us to look at the signage. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The concept of the restaurant is pretty cool they have boats and they place plates of sushi and other food on[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The table has a QR Code for the menu or you can ask for a physical menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restroom needs an upgrade and it was dirty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you check this restaurant note that you may have to wait. We waited for about 30 minutes and you have to place your name on a clipboard with the number of people in your party and if you want to sit next to the boats. Overall the experience was good but could have been better.

I think this might be the only restaurant i'm an actual regular at. The food is delicious, the servers are very attentive and kind, even though they are constantly busy!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I definitely recommend waiting a little extra to sit by the boats :), but don't over stay your welcome haha be mindful and they only allow 75 minute seating anyway.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The fish is so so fresh and everything comes out super quick. Simple little gem in hialeah, and my new favorite restaurant!! salmon sashimi is soooo buttery it melts in your mouth, we usually get like 7 orders and they're super affordable for how much is actually served !!

We recently dined at Shima Sushi, and it was such a fun experience. Shima is best known for its sushi boats, which make for both a delicious and lively meal. We started with a few items off the menu -- gyoza (which amusingly also popped up later on one of the boats), the Cleopatra Roll, and the Jack Roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful. When it comes to the boats, my recommendation is to focus on the freshly prepared items (skip anything wrapped in plastic). We enjoyed an impressive variety, including hot and sour chicken, tuna rolls, tempura shrimp, and more. Highly recommend... but also don't, because this neighborhood gem is one of Miami's best-kept secrets.

Cool concept but their quality was not great, Tokyo Tuna is way better! If they improve the quality I would go back.

Went the night before Valentine's Day to celebrate early with my fiancée. It's a small restaurant and popular, so of course there was a wait. But we waited around 30 minutes to be seated right by the boats. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The concept of just grabbing the sushi off the boats as they sail by is so fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The sushi is fresh and always getting replenished by the chefs. Our favorites are the Blanca roll, Alaskan roll and sexy tuna sashimi. The service is also on point. Would definitely recommend for your next date night.

Loved my experience at Shima! The food was fresh, service was friendly and fast.Hidden gem in Hialeah, will be back! #platetower

I would give 5 stars to this place because I love the concept of the little boat, the food is good and the prices are great. But the wait.... I have to come at least a day in advance just kidding at least an hour before and park in the front and make sure to be in line before 6 because the largest line forms outside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wish the place was bigger and that they opened more regular hours so that the line doesn't build up like that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Such a fun place. Sushi floats by your table on tiny boats and you grab the plates off of the boats. Every dish was better than the next. Rolls, gyoza, shrimp on a stick. Dragon rolls, seaweed Salad calamari. It's amazing. Prices are very reasonable. Food is excellent as is the quality of the food. Service is also. They are very attentive. Very chill laid back vibe.

Everything was soooooooo good! We opted to sit at a table next to the food boats that go by and just grabbed plates we liked. Sorry for the terrible photos but I devoured all our own food and snapped some pics of the food going by. We will definitely be back here!

Ask the Community - Shima Japanese Restaurant

Are they any non-sushi options? Like fried rice, chicken teriyaki, etc?

Yes! They have a whole menu that has different food options that aren't sushi. The chicken teriyaki is very good IMO.

    Is it pet friendly?

I don't think so. You may call to confirm.

Do they have high chairs for toddlers?

No, they have a bar area and an area where you can sit on the floor

Sushi neighborhood, great and convinience for me. I sit and rightaway take the plate, little plates with different prices and all yummy. And what else on friday after work alone better that this? No place better than this.

    I agree, no better place!

I usually approach fusion restaurants with a healthy amount of skepticism. Too often, they feel…read morelike culinary speed dating, two cuisines forced together in the hope that chemistry magically appears. More often than not, one side dominates, the other disappears, and everybody loses. At Amazonia, a Japanese-Peruvian restaurant in Miami, that fear evaporates somewhere around the first bite. The opening argument came in the form of Gyoza Huancaína, pan-fried dumplings stuffed with lomo saltado and served with a vivid yellow huancaína sauce. It is the kind of dish that sounds gimmicky when described aloud. Then you eat it. The dumplings delivered deep savory notes from the beef, while the creamy sauce added brightness, spice, and richness. It felt less like a fusion experiment and more like a dish that had always existed. Four dumplings arrived on the plate. Four was not enough. My entrée, the Midori Risotto, continued the conversation between Japan and Peru. A strikingly green risotto made with kale and edamame arrived topped with grilled shrimp, microgreens, and dots of black garlic aioli. The rice was cooked properly, retaining a slight bite, while the edamame added texture and sweetness. The shrimp brought balance to the richness, and the black garlic aioli quietly tied everything together. It was a dish that managed to be both comforting and elegant. To drink, I ordered the Nikkei Lemonade, a blend of yuzu, Peruvian ginger, and huacatay. Bright, citrusy, and refreshing, it reset the palate after each bite and served as a reminder that the fusion extends beyond the food. My wife chose the braised short rib, a dish for diners who may not be ready to take the full leap into the restaurant's more adventurous offerings. Braised for 72 hours and served over mashed potatoes, it collapsed under the gentlest pressure from a fork. The beef was intensely flavorful, and the braising liquid was rich enough to make you consider asking for a spoon. Dessert brought one final East-meets-West moment. The Flan Nikkei paired a silky custard with miso caramel, whipped cream, and fresh strawberry. The miso added just enough savory depth to keep the sweetness from becoming predictable. It was a thoughtful ending to a meal built on thoughtful combinations. Amazonia succeeds because it understands something many fusion restaurants do not. Combining cuisines is not about piling flavors on top of one another. It is about finding where they naturally intersect. Here, Japanese precision and Peruvian boldness meet in the middle, and both emerge better for it. Fusion rarely wins me over, but Amazonia makes a compelling case for keeping an open mind.

Our server Claudia was so nice and helpful with explaining the different dishes. You also are treated to a complimentary mocktail and sweet yam bite to start. Claudia even provided us a tablet to see the pictures of the various dishes offered which helped us decide what to try. We started off with a mocktail that had coconut, passion fruit, hibiscus tea and pineapple. That drink was delicious and I didn't miss the alcohol. For starters we had the salmon crispy rice and that was so filling and delicious. Then we had the scallops in the black truffle sauce which was perfect a seared to perfection. We also ordered the kumogani roll which is crab based and that was very tasty with or without soy sauce. We loved everything we tried and will definitely go back to try other items on the menu. I highly recommend trying them out if you're in the area.

Parking was a breeze in the plaza it was in, although the parking spots themselves were a little slim. Walking in, we were greeted right away and seated shortly after. The staff was all friendly and the service was super fast. The place itself was super clean and pretty large in comparison to a few other Sushi Sakes I've been to. The menu is pretty extensive so I took quite some time looking at it to decide what I wanted. I was trying to be a bit healthy but my options were pretty limited if I wanted to stay budget friendly. I ended up getting some a sashimi sampler and shared the dynamite appetizer. Both were decent but I do have to say, I have high expectations for the dynamite appetizer so my opinion may be a little skewed. The sashimi was fairly fresh but I wish they had other options for something with less rice on their menu. We also got drinks, the lychee martini and lychee sangria. Both were really good! Overall, it was a great experience and recommend if you're a fan of Sushi Sake and in the Hialeah area.
