This is a small food stand right next to Zoiglhaus Brewing Company. All the food that they took for customers looked amazing. I asked if they have Simit which is kinda Turkish bread. I wasn't expecting them to have it. They didn't. He had some for himself that he gave me. He refused to let me pay for it. I bought their Turkish coffee, and it was authentic which is hard to find in Portland. Obviously, they are nice and hosbitabkey. This little visit briefly transported back to Turkey. i had a great experience here! i love how extensive the menu is and the entire food court area is super cool. it's very spacious and has indoor and outdoor seating. dogs are also allowed inside. i got the lamb rib plate which was pretty delicious. the portion size was a bit smaller than i expected. from my experience, turkish cuisine usually comes in larger portions so this looked a little less than what i'm used to. the flavors were all there and i love all the different vegetables they included. i would definitely recommend coming here! i want to try all the different restaurants eventually. read more

We were expecting a small sit down restaurant but it is a pretty big food court. They have like 3 different sitting areas and a patio area. We came in on Friday night so they had a band playing. It was a bit too loud so we went to one of the other rooms. The restaurant is behind the stage in a corner. I ordered the falafel plate that included a delicious Smokey baba ghanoush, hummus, rice, and a salad. The rice was fluffy and buttery. The hummus was a little too runny but good flavor. The falafel had a good crisp and were soft inside. The doner plate had a great blend of lamb and beef, and thank you for giving us a spicy jalapeño!! It gives off fast food flavor, not bad but not authentic. Granted we just got back from Turkey... would def come again though. They do serve big portions and staff is nice, so I would say worth it. The location of this restaurant is amazing! Lots of seating and opportunity for others in your party to choose alternative food choices. First time trying Turkish food and I was pleasantly surprised! We had a wide variety of food since there were 5 of us. The lamb was incredible (my favorite!). The gentleman that helped us order were kind, courteous and helpful. Finally a true Turkish food in Portland! The crew is super friendly and the food is real to the roots of Turkish food as it can get. You must eat the Döner kebap and the eggplant kebap! This is one of the pods in the ZED. Had the lamb kebab plate which was superb. But the lentil soup was really something else. 27 years ago I had this soup, mercimek corbasi, for breakfast in Ankara, Turkey. This soup took me back to that morning. It was absolutely fantastic. I've made it a few times myself, but my efforts were pitiful compared to the soup here. I will be going back regularly jsut for this fix! Thank you. The pita was also exceptional. As a Turkish person, I would proudly said one of the best Turkish food I have ever eaten in America! I had the combo plate; instead of chicken I got the falafel along with Doner and Eggplant. I also ordered fresh squeeze orange juice and Potato borek. I felt like I am home. Owner was very attentive, kind and generous. He gave me Turkish Tea and baklava. BEST BAKLAVA I'VE EVER HAD! My family and I ate at this place and had several servings of the chicken, beef and mezza plate. Turkish food is one of my favorite cuisines, and I was so excited when I saw this place had opened in the Zed! My spouse and I have both gotten food from here multiple times now, and every time it's been delicious (even down to the rice--who knew rice could be so good and flavorful?!). I think my favorite thing has been the eggplant kebab plate (eggplant wrapped around beef, yum), and the freshly made baklava is honestly even better than some of the baklava I had when traveling in Turkey! This review does not concern the quality of the food (which is fine, fyi), it is about the pricing of the lentil soup. I paid $11 for approximately 12 ounces, or about $1 worth of ingredients. I should have gone with my gut and just had them remove it from my order when I learned what the cost was (the price wasn't listed on the menu, if it was I wouldn't have even ordered it to begin with). It was not anywhere near worth that amount of money. I strongly urge SSB to reconsider the price point of this item. If they want any repeat lentil soup customers, that is. read more
