I've been buying from Vogets for roughly 30 years. I once bought 8 packs of the hot dogs for the company picnic. We also served shredded chicken & pork sandwiches. The hot dogs all disappeared and people were coming back looking for more. I had many rave reviews and people wanted to know where I got them. I moved away, but am moving back soon. We have tried several of the high end smoked ham from various butcher shops. This was by far the most moist and outstanding ham. We also purchased smoked pork chops, linguisa and a couple of other kinds of sausages. The chops were tender, moist and amazing! The linguisa was very tasty. Their fresh meat selection is out of this world, and their seasonal and holiday options are stellar. The cured and smoked hams are delicious! If you love sausage, pepperoni, or jerky, they have an impressive variety--perfect for our on-the-go lifestyle. We also use Voget Meats for custom processing of meat we buy directly from farms. They're incredibly flexible and will even add things like bacon fat to our hamburger grind. They also have a separate facility for processing wild game, which is a great bonus. I've been a Voget's customer for decades... when they were still doing custom cutting and processing of Elk and Deer when I was still hunting - they did a fine job. I particularly liked their Pepperoni Sticks, and still go to get some now and then. But I'm Upper-70's now, and no longer hunting and don't eat much meat anymore. But last time in I bought some packaged 'Rib-Eye' steak. Just cooked one this evening. Might as well have gone to Bi-Mart and bought a rubber boot to chew on. Worthless. I grew up in a meat market in Portland. My Dad was a Meat Man (he didn't like the term 'Butcher). His primary talent was buying. He'd cruise the wholesale packing houses in N. Portland and pick out sides of beef he liked. Melt in your mouth.... He did a good business - people very pleased. This so-called 'Rib-Eye Steak' from Vogets was a joke. Total gristle and fat. They package them in white paper and freeze them - you can't see the product at all. Pig in a Poke. I cannot recommend even trying one. I'll never get another. Worthless. I may still go get some Pepperoni now and then.... read more

This place is famous for their pork chops and summer sausage. I know someone who travels a few hours once or twice a year to load up on these items. The pepperoni sticks are also very good. They have a hot mustard that I really love too. I live pretty far away but whenever I happen to be passing through I try to stop by and get something. read more

The best! I have been to the butcher shop to smell the aroma! The case with their meats. My husband's mother shopped here for years. I now gift to my in laws for holidays! After 25 years of ordering I can no longer recommend. This summer of 2023 I tried the beef smoked brisket faux bacon, which becomes slimy in a few days. I ordered our traditional yearly family smoked whole boneless Turkey roll in the summer (via new owner) double checked on the order the first of November. Found they were out of whole boneless smoked turkey roll and it was NOT MADE AT VOGET MEAT. The new owner tried to help with the beef smoked brisket "bacon". Repeat: new owner., avoid Voget now. My first ham molded 25 years ago after 3 days, and based on family likes we tried Voget again For smoked Turkey rolls. I eat no pig. They say smoked products require no refrigeration-not believing this. I visited to find out the cutting room isn't very cold when we shared a beef with a relative that was defrosted upon pick up. . We thought we would try Voget Meats at 2930 E Street Hubbard Oregon. We even traveled 86 miles round trip to try them. With the price of gas we really lost money. I did read reviews before going it all looked good so we drove over to try them. Highly irritated with their customer service. I intended to buy a pork pack for $225 but when we got done shopping bought other things. $375 later we walked out the door. The half ham that came with the pork pack was what we was so excited about. We are so dissatisfied and disappointed our ham ended up being 90% fat and you couldn't taste the smoke at all. I took pictures of the ham then thew it away. Called them about it asking if they could compensate for the fatty ham. Told them I had pictures and receipt. They said because I didn't actually have the ham even though I had pictures they would give me $10-$15 voucher. I guess that is better than nothing but when the ham cost approximately $45 dollars plus another 86 mile round trip which is about $15 gas it isn't worth it to me. I also would like to mention their supposedly prize winning smoking we could barely smell it and couldn't taste it at all even in the bacon we bought. The pictures I'm adding the first on is from their website this is what I thought I was buying. The second and third pictures is pictures of the ham that they sold me and won't replace. Not happy the other meat we bought is ok but nothing special I could have bought better from a grocery store. I have never paid $86 for four rib eye steaks before hope they are good. We are trying them 2night. Wish us luck. read more

We went to Voget Meats on a whim of a craving to make a German Sausage dinner. It was early so we picked up a couple of bags of their mini breakfast sausage links. We usually settle for that mass produced link breakfast sausage and when we have gotten breakfast sausage links at other meat markets it is usually to overdone with spices(especially sage). Voget has totally set the bar for breakfast sausage links. Perfect seasoning and sized. Wow, if you are a breakfast person and want to try some of the best breakfast sausage around... For over forty years, I've been partaking of various Voget Meats products. When I was a young child, my dad would stop in regularly to buy smoked sausage, and we would always come away with summer sausage or chipped beef to snack on, and it was always a wonderful treat. Forty years later, Voget's smoked German sausage is my favorite -- whether it's the full size option or the little smokies, the flavors are excellent. We often take the little smokies along as an easy camping breakfast, and the full size sausages are great served on rye buns with sauerkraut and spicy mustard. Hey guys. Love you're ham. Your cooking instructions... not so much. Have you tried what you recommend? I have. My half ham (butt cut) took 11 hours and 50 minutes to reach 152 deg. I put it in the oven at 10:00 AM hoping to serve it for dinner at 6:30... but the internal temp was only 140 deg. I ordered take out, ate, and finally took the finished ham out of the oven at 9:50 PM. It's delicious. Looking forward to a great dinner tonight. Be well. read more

Just happened to be driving through town and noticed this little gem. Bought and ate some smoked German sausage and it was delicious! It's so hard to find good locally owned meat shops that have been in business for as long as this company has and know what they are doing. The quality and cuts of meat are so much better than what you would find at the larger grocery stores and chains. I have used Vogets several times. The final product is ok to good but not worth the compromise and errors. I have taken waterfowl in for sausage and pepperoni and been given back beef. I have taken entire boned out animals and then charged a boning fee. I have paid to have my animal (already boned and trimmed) processed by itself and then gotten back product containing bone and cartilage. So, they did not honor my request and mixed it with other animals not processed as cleanly. I have even found lead fragments in the meat and I only use copper bullets. Makes me wonder if the meat is handled in a clean and safe manner. read more

Went to Voget's to have a fair hog butchered last year. Did a nice job, all as requested (though I learned there is a lot to the art of specifying how your hog is cut). The cased sausages - the smoked from our hog and the octoberfest bough separately were spectacular - salty, very well packed, decently spiced, light smoke flavor. The seasoned sausage (loose in tube) was a bit salty and bland for my tastes... German-style. Bacon is very salty with barely a hint of smoke. read more
