Putting the meat in our cooler.

Great meats for the price! We got a tomahawk, a5 wagyu, and a3 wagyu. Fast and friendly butchers serving us/grabbing meats for us. Always a joy coming here. Except today we got a crabby cashier who acted like we couldn't pay when my card tap wasn't working. Yes, I know it's not tapping.... Please allow me to insert the card first before heckling me that you're not getting anything and that it's not going through. Didn't escalate it because she may have been having a bad shift with the way her facial expressions looked.

Great Turky and food! I always love getting new meat and other things from this place!

Hands down the best butcher shop I've ever bought from! And I've had my fair share of shops! Get the lamb sausage. Thank me later!! I stock up on meat from this place whenever I visit Oregon goodies to bring back home to Hawaii!

It's all about the meat! I can't believe how much I love this place because it's literally just a butcher shop - a place where you can buy fresh local meat. But I LOVE it. I really do. I think it's partially the branding and look & feel of the place that give it such a great quality, local, casual, approachable Oregon vibe. Service is friendly, attentive, super helpful, easy. It's easy to get to and there's plenty of parking. On this particular visit, we started out by ordering sandwiches from the Meating Place Cafe and then took a quick walk across the parking lot to the butcher shop to buy bacon, smoke pork chops and pepperoni sticks. I also highly recommend their crab cakes but we didn't buy them on this trip. They carry a variety of meats and bones so I've included a bunch of photos of raw meat which is seems weird but it's meant to be helpful so you'll know what to expect. Lol.

This place is spacious and has a variety of meats. The quality looks to be pretty good and fresh. One of the items I like from here is the jalepeno cheddar pepperoni sticks. It's definitely worth a try.

Best sandwiches by my husband's workplace! Can't wait to try more of their meat. The pickles are killer.

Great food. Bring your appetite. Takes a little bit of time to get your order when it's busy. Worth the wait.

An enjoyable place to visit in rural Helvetia not far from Hillsboro, OR…read more Upon arriving, I was impressed by the beautiful large rosemary bush with lots of bees busy enjoying the lovely little lavender flowers blooming! When inside the large red shop, so many options of local food, beverage & handcrafted items for sale: cookies, pastries, candy, honey, fresh milk, meat, wine, coffee, sandwiches, chips & so much more. Once done wandering thru or shopping, there is the expansive views out back where one can picnic on the grass, sip some beverages or munch on goodies purchased inside. Also available are table & chairs on the side of the market structure that allows for looping back inside or towards the front parking lot. The grounds are nicely manicured with a variety of beautiful specimen plants to be in awe of. Hopefully you'll go with intent to slow down, relax, linger & enjoy this jewel of a place to visit. Be sure to check out their posted calendar of events as also available on their website.

I just wish this market was more of an actual legit market and less tourist gift shop vibe. On to the details of my visit: I'd been looking forward to a solid local market and this one had been on my radar for a while. Unfortunately this wasn't it. It felt more like a typical Oregon roadside tourist trap with the standard "Made in Oregon" stale chocolates, granola, sweets, etc. The produce sections was relatively tiny and only about half of it looked really good. The frozen meat sections was almost entirely out of red meat, there was a tiny amount of fish and then frozen chicken too. However, the prices are tourist gift shop too. Think $10/lb for asparagus, $18/lb for chicken thighs, $10 for a dozen chicken eggs, $14/lb for ground beef, etc. I eventually just looked through their baked goods and noted the bread was date stamped that it was baked 2 days prior and priced at for a $14 loaf of sourdough. My favorite Portland bakeries all offer freshly baked (as in that same day) sourdough and other loaves for $9-$12. Anyhow, I ended up choosing some local brownies and which looked good but ended up being chalky, dry and clearly several days old. I'd love to see a larger selection of prepared foods to enjoy on the pretty back patio too. They just had a bunch of those pre-packaged sandos & wraps like one finds in an airport. Why not add a little pizza oven and or grill for weekends? Anyhow, there's much potential with such a pretty place like this one but it isnt quite there enough for me to make the 30min drive from Portland again.

I could have spent so much money in here. So much variety. Huge variety of products but within each category there's even more. Choose your meat and then pick your flavor. Cashier was really helpful and friendly. Prices were reasonable and we very much enjoyed our snacks. Will plan to stop again when out that way.

And they had dozens of varieties of jerky, beef, turkey, bison, elk, wild boar, salmon, alligator, it was impressive. There were some local producers, and ones from other places like Colorado, too. I told the lady that I was looking for a present for a friend, and she helpfully recommended her favorite kinds and helped me decide what to buy. My experience couldn't have been more different from Deanna's below! And they don't just have jerky - there are lots of dried fruits, candies, nuts, jams...
