This is a full contact car wash. Before you enter there are signs directing you to remove antenna…read moreand tow hitch, fold in your mirrors and more. They also state they are not responsible for after market items on your vehicle. That sign made me very concerned about the agressiveness of this car wash. No doubt they are for liability purposes. There are two lanes with gates. Pay at the kiosk before the gate and wait for the gate to open. If there is a line to enter the car wash the gate will delay opening. Also, the lanes alternate opening. A staff member was on hand to assist with operating the kiosk on the day of our visit. You choose your level of wash: basic through 'the works'. Two other staff members were using soft cleaning pads on long poles to wipe down exterior windows and vehicle fronts before entering the car wash. We were guided in by an attendent and instructed to put the vehicle in neutral during the ride through. The first set of rollers go over the front, top and back of the vehucle while spinning and a second set go across the sides a bit further in. After a quick rinse, wax was sprayed on the exterior before a final rinse and blow dry. The dryer sounds like a jet engine! The forward momentum of our vehicle was released as soon as we hit the dryer so be sure to shift into drive and slowly make your way through the dryer to get out of the next cars path. You exit onto a shared shopping plaza roadway. Our vehicle is clean and shiny and the antenna intact, so mission accomplished

But we paid for the towel at the kiosk expecting those little microfiber towels to wipe down the interior, but instead we were handing a soaking wet kitchen towel that left red fibers all over the dash. And there are no free vacuums after you go through the wash?!?! That's not normal.

They also snuck a "specialty oil filter" charge in when I drive a Hyundai and don't require a specialty filter. (Have never been charged for an oil filter at any other location. It's ALWAYS included in the price of the oil change) Spoke to manager and he didn't seem to care about losing customers. Said that this location is independently owned and the owner charges more than other locations and charges separately for an oil filter. That's unheard of. Also I asked them to adjust air pressure in my tires. My PSI should be 33 and yet all my tires are reading differently. We take our cars and our teenagers cars here for oil changes but we won't be back. Tired of the greed and they are way more pricey than other locations. *Also want to point out that when I told the manager that the price of the oil filter is advertised as included in the price of the oil change-he stated that other locations advertise that but that they do not. So I went ahead and added a photo pulled DIRECTLY FROM THEIR LOCATION'S WEBSITE that shows it is indeed included in the price of the oil change. So stop being shady.

Every employee that I've had the pleasure of dealing with, has always been incredibly polite. I leave feeling confident and well taken care of. And it's always nice that, after my oil change, I can go right next-door and use the car wash that is managed by the same people. I found out today that each Valvoline is independently owned. While there are a few that I will never return to, I love it when I get a chance to come to this one! Support your small business owners!

1 Star - Extremely disappointing experience…read more I had a very frustrating experience at the Brown Bear Car Wash location on Auburn Way S next to McDonald's and Domino's in Auburn. Before entering the wash, I pulled aside and spoke with one of the attendants because my vehicle had some pre-existing cosmetic damage on the front bumper. I wanted to be responsible and confirm that it would still be safe to go through the wash. The attendant looked at the bumper, reassured me that it should be fine, and one of the attendants even offered and placed blue tape on it before directing me forward. Based on that reassurance from staff, I proceeded through the wash. While inside the wash, it suddenly felt like my car may have come off track or run over something. I briefly had to switch gears because it felt like something had gone underneath the vehicle. At the time I did not know what had happened and assumed one of the cleaning cloths may have caught something. After exiting the wash, I pulled aside and spoke with Oscar, one of the attendants. He was the one who informed me that my bumper had come off during the wash and he went to retrieve it for me. From what I later understood, it appears the bumper detached near the air blowers toward the end of the wash. Oscar helped me submit a claim, and I later spoke with supervisor Dwayne at the location, who documented everything and said management would review the situation. Over the following days I repeatedly called for updates and was told several times that the manager was not available or not in. It took approximately three to four days before I was finally contacted and able to discuss the situation with the claims department and management, including Jack Halsey and Omar M. Despite the fact that their staff looked at the vehicle, taped the bumper, and reassured me it should be fine to proceed, the company ultimately denied responsibility and compensation while pointing to signage stating vehicles enter at their own risk. The issue with that response is simple. I did not just drive into the wash without asking. I specifically pulled aside to ask their staff for guidance first. Their attendants evaluated the vehicle, assisted with taping the bumper, and directed me forward into the wash. As a customer, it is reasonable to rely on the judgment of employees who are operating the wash and actively guiding vehicles using the directional paddles that signal when to move forward, stop, or place the vehicle in neutral. The damage from this incident is now estimated to cost several thousand dollars in repairs. I'm simply asking Brown Bear to take a fair and honest look at what happened. When a customer asks your staff for guidance and your staff reassures them and allows the vehicle to proceed, that responsibility should not simply be dismissed afterward. I hope Brown Bear chooses to review this situation again and do the right thing.
