I was nervous to give this a try but was pleasantly surprised with the 10 minute massage ($20) It felt like they knew my tight points, the pressure was hard, and my masseuse checked in to see if I was in pain. Fully body massage is everything but the head and feet. I definitely felt loosened. It looks like gloves are worn by the masseuses for the foot massages, but I think they sanitize before and after. read more

Please do not go here! Please save your money. Honestly. This was the worst massage in a place like this I've ever experienced. The man who did my massage, it was almost like he was trying to beat me up the whole time. I had tears in my eyes while he was massaging me. I went in for a 50-minute massage and honestly wanted him to stop after three minutes. It was not relaxing at all. They were also rude by talking to each other the full time with other members of the staff. I typically am very lenient with my massages and people, and I give a lot of grace when it comes to people who work hard and do service jobs. This is not a place to go. There are other massage places in the Mall of America--I beg you to go there instead. read more

Multiple massage options for duration and area. Clean. Very short wait. Friendly service.

Don't go here unless you want someone burping in your ear and flicking boogers while giving you a massage. I'd give a zero star if I could.

Exactly what my neck and shoulders needed! I have dipped in here a few times when traveling through Minneapolis for a refresh. Yes, they may try to talk you into a longer session once you're blissed out on the table. It is as simple as "no thank you" if you don't want more. All in all, it is a convenient and professional massage option. I will visit again. read more

It was the best of times. This afternoon will live in my MOA memories. Unexpected relief. Working through all and I mean all my knots and tightness. Recommended HIGHLY. 5 STARS PLUS read more

Shiatsu Renu - Massage Near Me - Bloomington, Minnesota

I considered coming here for a while, my usual jaunt to Mystic Lake Spa being unavailable due to Covid-19. I was hesitant getting a massage in a public setting but I did something painful to my neck so I desperately made a trip to Shiatsu Renu. I wasn't disappointed. I asked for the 20 minute massage but somehow got talked into the hour long Complete Retreat II. There is definitely a language barrier as noted in other reviews so I didn't know what I agreed to but I decided not to doubt the masseur's expertise. I let him do his magic and did he ever! I can't say it was pain free, but I was already suffering and he performed a miracle. I was sorely tense on my entire left side from my head to my hip, how I got that way is a mystery. All I know is that I could barely move my neck before I got there but by the time I left I was loose as creamed corn. I'm convinced 20 minutes wouldn't have done the trick lol. Totally worth the hour's pay in my book! I also read in previous reviews about being pressured to leave a tip. I didn't experience that but definitely paid gratitude for a job well done. I agree it's not professional to be asking outright for a tip, but please keep in mind that if you do go that those working to service others (especially now) have families to support and your generosity goes a long way. I assure you that I got what I paid for! Bottom line: we're all stressed to the max over this and that, on top of the pandemic. If you're a mother like me, you might be carrying a lot of mom guilt. Or you're balancing working from home while taking care of yourself and your family. Or concerned about loved ones you haven't seen in long time. Whatever it is, we literally carry our worries on our shoulders and I'm guessing that's what happened to me. A good massage could be your turning point, I highly recommend coming here! read more

I don't get massages from chair salons in the Mall of America. But I was under a lot of pressure and my back and neck were acting up from work. I originally just wanted 20 minutes, but after the 20 minutes, the guy said you are so tight you should get 40 minutes. I said another 10 minutes would be it. It was the Holidays time so I was okay you are working trying to make a living in MN winter. First of all I have had deep tissue massage, so it can be a bit painful, but the guy was really bad. As others have mentioned, the masseur tried to pressure me into leaving a BIGGER tip. He literally pulled out a calculator, calculated 20% of the total. It was the Holidays...but I was really stupid. Don't come to the this shop either in the rotunda or the actual store. read more

My husband and I each had a 1 hour table massage $69 each. He enjoyed his, the guy who did mine stayed on his cell which was very rude. When we went to pay, my husband was leaving a 15% tip, the guy that did mine, pointed to the taxed total and took a calculator and showed him it should be more! I thought it was very rude. My husband left 20%, I wouldn't have! Definitely would go on down the mall next time. read more

Very bad. Not only have they obviously not had any training, I wonder if they themselves have ever received a professional massage. Both of the people working were very unintuitive. Do not waste your time or money here. read more

Jack had the "magic hands." My friend and I did the foot and body massage after a weekend of attending a music concert and walking the mall. It was perfect and therapeutic. I wish Jack was in Chicago because I would go monthly for a massage! read more

Honestly! Best massage ever! My toddler fell asleep in his stroller, so I was able to go on. I thought, when do I ever go for a massage?! You have to schedule, get a sitter, then show up. This seemed like the right place at the right time! The massage was amazing! The lady spoke very little English which is the best. I hate when the massage therapists try to make conversation while getting a massage. She applied excellent pressure. I had the massage only for 30 minutes because it kind of got annoying that the guys were standing outside and screaming and asking people if they want a massage. So, I highly recommend wearing your headphones during the massage. read more

I have been in this business several times, their massage has always been great. Very friendly staff and always makes me feel great afterwards. I highly recommend this place for a massage! read more

Went in with my +1 to get chair massages. They used medium pressure, and were very thorough with their elbow use on my knots. No complaints, would definitely go back. Expect the typical language barrier. read more

This is a new massage place in the Mall of America. The old one is more expensive and not too good. This place has the traditional language barrier that some Asian massage places have. I suggest using a few key words. I have used them a couple of times and they have been very good. The last time that I was there I paid more for the oil and hot oil massage which was very good. I will continue to visit this location. Maybe I will see you there. read more

They touch inappropriately!! This place is horrible!! I went in for a 90 min massage and basically just walked out bruised and violated. Then the guy had the audacity to ask for a tip! When I told him no and paid the fee for the 90 minutes, I just checked my credit card, and he changed the total to add a $30 tip!!! Horrible/disgusting/crooks!! read more

RUN away from this place. I'm two days post massage & still in unbearable pain. I visited the chiropractor today in an attempt to undo the damage. I'm still miserable & fear it will take a lot to fix this. The claims about demanding 20% tip are true too. & they wanted cash. I will never return here & most of all hope I will eventually heal. read more

Wanted to get a 40 minute Chair massage, they convinced me to get a table massage, since it was the same price. MOST PAINFUL MASSAGE OF MY LIFE! Yes, I'm super-tense in my shoulders, but if it's not releasing after 10 painful minutes of kneading, don't try to force it! I left more sore than refreshed, and they FORCED me to leave a 20% tip when I only gave them $50 and to keep the change ("that's only $1, you need to tip $10!"). I'm NEVER going back to this salon! read more

High-pressure selling by rude people. While i was paying, the woman who gave my massage demanded a bigger tip. I already left a tip, but she aggressively said "20 percent" several times while looking and pointing at the amount. Also, they ask if you want a foot massage while you're still on the table, but apparentlyat the end of the massage. This gives the impression that it is part of the massage you signed up for, but it is not. They charge for a second service. Sneaky way to get you to spend more! Finally, the massage itself was painful, with elbows and knuckles digging into tendons rather than muscle. We go to the mall frequently but will never go back to this store again. Not recommend. read more

They constantly pander you to choose a longer massage. During the massage the woman doing my wife's was arguing with some other woman the whole tome. Unprofessional. Then they shame you into giving a tip at the end. I gave a tip while my wife was still getting her massage. They lied to my wife and said I didn't tip them. Shameful. Avoid. read more

This will be my 3rd time getting a message here, Unfortunately I won't be coming back, after tell the bald guy look i dont have money to do more time he nagged me not 1 time but 2 times during the massage to get me to do more time,I said no both times then he decided to ask me again because my bf is having a hr and I told him I didn't have the money 2 times already. Then he says oh 40 mins done so I got ready to pay and he told me I was to tip him 20 bucks, I gave him 10 and am now waiting to see how much they are gonna try to muzzle out of my bf. I will not be coming back here I should be able to decide what services I want and what I'm gonna tip based on how I felt not how much they think I should pay read more

I'm not one to put any reviews, good or bad, but this one I definitely have to post! Brought my mom in for a nice mother daughter day massage and will never return again! I got the lady and she used her elbows and talked to her coworker half the time, and my mom got one of the guys that hardly massaged her! We paid for our 60 min massage, gave them each a $10 tip and the lady demanded 20% tip! I was reluctant but she kept demanding and pointing to change the tip amount and being the nice person i am, I changed it to 20%. Honestly I'm Asian but i seen Chinese people like this before so i just left it alone too. Just saying, but if you guys want to go then go ahead but I'm not ever going back! read more

This was the worst massage I have ever gotten in my life. It was painful and the massage guy had nerve enough to ask for a tip. FO NOT GO THERE. RUN!!!!! I have a doctors appointment because I think he atchually hurt something!! read more

I'm a personal trainer and have had several massages when it comes to recovery. This by far was THE Worst massage I've ever had. I went with my friend and this was her first massage ever. We wanted 30 min but were pushed into an hour session. The massage therapist she had was coughing all over her and spent the entire time on her left side, then stated "we need to do a hour to get the other side." When she went home her entire left shoulder blade was bruised. The massage therapist I had tried to get me to take my sweatshirt off and would give inappropriate touches on the inside of my legs to adjust the towel on top of me. And spent majority of the time on my glutes. I also have severe low back issues and my person pushed directly on my lumbar spine (even after telling him he needed to move on to something else or lighten the pressure) and aggravated the injury to the point it feels tender to bend over or stand for extended periods of time. When it came time to pay, the massage therapist my friend had, she was given the receipt and she didn't want to give a tip. He pushed the receipt back to her and stated "tip. You need to tip." Save your money and your body. NEVER returning to this place. read more

Being a massage therapist myself I can say these people know the body! 10 stars if I could!

I treated my partner to a massage here today and we agreed to a 30 min massage ($35). When I came back to actually pay for the service, I found out he had gotten a longer massage for a total of $50; no big deal, as it was a treat and if that's what my partner wanted, then I was happy to pay. After we left the store, however, my partner told me that when his 30 min massage was almost over, they pressured him into extending it and he felt that he couldn't say no. He also said how painful the whole experience was; I'm no expert, but I feel that a massage is supposed to be relaxing, not literally painful!! But that's not even the worst of it. As others have mentioned, the masseur tried to pressure me into leaving a BIGGER tip (I had already left a fair tip). He literally pulled out a calculator, calculated 20% of the total, and said "Need bigger tip, 20%!" The audacity!! Overall, I would NOT RECOMMEND this place as they pressure you into paying more than you intended. read more

I received a massage on Friday, April 16. I thought this would feel so good for my neck and back which always gives me problems; I woke up on Saturday, April 17 and my back, neck and even butt are so very sore. I absolutely regret even going in the place. Not only are they very pushy, their English is not very good. You cannot understand what they are even saying. I asked for a 20 minute massage and ended up getting a 30 minute massage. The massage hurt. When I told him that it hurt; he just laughed. It was not a good experience and I will not do it again. read more

0 stars if I could. Several years ago a female massage worker at this business had really helped me on two separate occasions when I was experiencing tightness and tension in neck and shoulder. 15 to 20 minutes was all it took. A week ago I returned to this business when I had same neck tension. A male did the massage. I did not have a good experience at all, and one week later, am still tight and sore in my neck. Not only did he insist on longer than 20 minutes, and hurt me during massage with way too much pressure, I felt traumatized when he aggressively hyperextended my neck to the left and right at the end of massage. I have been sore and swollen for a week now. I will never return. read more

Conned me n my friend out of money. While we were getting massages they told us our the other person had extended their massage time and so we should too. Learned my lesson read more

I wish I had read the reviews before coming here. I had the same experience as others talked about on here. They kept talking about extending the massage before my original requested time was up acting like my time was expired. Then as I went to pay with a credit card, I did not add a tip as I intended to tip in cash. As soon as he saw the receipt and as I was reaching for my wallet, he became angry and belligerent demanding a tip. I will never go back there. read more

Staff is rude, aggressively push tips and longer massage times. Insulted my wife when she left a 8 percent tip. Shook the tip jar at me demanding more tips. read more

Way too hard of a massage. It felt as if the masseur was literally "massaging" my actual spine and not the muscles. I received the massage a week ago which my back hasn't felt the same and continues to hurt. I will NEVER go back and am now looking at a chiropractor to fix what the masseur has damaged. read more

Avoid like the PLAGUE. "Please have a seat." If you hear this without setting a clear boundary on how long your wait is, just walk out. There's a reason this place is only 2 stars and the rest of the reviews reflect the horrible experience my wife and I had. They also force your amount of tip even though the level of service does not equate anything worthwhile. Move along and don't support corrupt business practices. read more

This place is so hit and miss. Had a very good massage a week ago. Wish i would have ask for his name. I went back today and it was the WORST message I've ever had. They didn't listen to a word i said. I have a frozen shoulder and its very tender so i asked them not to touch my shoulder and only concentrate on a knot i have. He was very rough and started on my shoulder. I jumped out of the chair and left. I don't think i will ever go back read more

Hardly relaxing. First, they are desperate yo attract new customers then while giving you a massage they are constantly yammering to urge people who pop their head in to wait. And they have lots of Chinese conversation with each other. There is. O way to relax with all the noise. Then when you check out, they badger you for tips then complain the tip is not large enough. read more

Unless you are ready to stand up and speak out you may as well skip this place. I had a chair massage 4 days ago and I'm still sore. I would liken it to torture. The chair itself was great. The man doing the massage was trying to get people in the whole time he was working on me. Not only that he kept trying to get me to fo longer than my initial 30 minutes. He got me up to 40. How? I don't know because it HURT!! I do have to say 2 of my friends had a face down massage done by 2 ladies and they loved it. My other friend had a chair massage next to me by a man for 20 minutes and was sore also. I'm too scared to go back and ask for a female. So will I go back and give them a second chance? We'll see if time lessens the memory of the pain! read more

Shiatsu Renu - Shiatsu Renu Mall of America Chair Massage - Massage Near Me - Bloomington, Minnesota

I used to recommend this massage store to my friends many times but won't anymore. I went there a month ago, 5 to 6 clients were waiting in the store, plus their existing customers that's 10 to 11 total which is too much more than maximum number and there's no 6 feet safe distance for sure. I came back after an hour, a tall old thin therapist asked me how long for the massage, I said either 30 mins or 60 mins whenever it's good for that busy time. He started with one hour massage, when it's getting busier, he asked me to change to 30 mins which I felt unprofessional but said nothing, I agreed with that and still tip him. Yesterday I went there again, there's no client when I got there. It's same tall thin guy's turn, I started with 30 mins, I asked him how long left when it's almost done, he said 2 mins. I asked to add 10 mins for my shoulder, when it's almost finished, I asked if I could add foot massage for 20 mins, he said ok. When all done, I felt relaxing a lot and would tip him $20. However, he told me my total time is 70 mins which is 50 mins back and 20 mins foot that's 10 more mins than what I got. This business is so unprofessional and defrauding. I paid for 70 mins since I'm sick of talking to this kind of person. I won't come back anymore. read more

Was not impressed with their customer interactions and sale techniques. They can't speak much English and over charged for the services they provided for us. Then wanted a tip tried to up sell 3 times and nearly drug us in as we walked by. Not impressed at all will not be back read more

Told the guy I didn't want my legs massaged when I got on the table, so he starts massaging them. Told him about 5 times (and I'm not exaggerating) that I did not want my legs massaged. He didn't understand me, even after getting out his phone translator. Not that he should've needed it - if someone repeatedly interrupts you when you're giving them a massage, you might wanna do something different. Ended up wasting $27 and 20 minutes of my time. If he's this bad at taking directions on how to give a massage, I feel bad for his wife. read more

I've visited Shiatsu Renu a few times and they've always given mediocre massages, but it was a way to treat myself. Recently when I went to visit Shiatsu Renu again, it has been shut down. I asked around and apparently City hall shut them down because they havbeen using unlicensed massage practitioners. I wish I had known about this sooner because then I would've never supported this business in the first place. I want my money back. If they do open back up, will they give me back my money? Edit: To every massage therapist in Bloomington, Shiatsu Renu's massage therapists were 60% unlicensed. If City hall allows Shiatsu Renu to reopen then does that mean every business has a fair first chance? read more
