I've had chronic sciatic pain for over 10 years. I've tried physical therapy, chiropractic care,…read moremassage therapy, stretching, exercise/weight loss, spinal injections similar to an epidural, medication...pretty much everything but witchcraft. Oh, and acupuncture! I have always been freaked out by the idea of acupuncture (amongst the typical fears, but I also have to thank Final Destination). My sciatic pain is caused by a bulging disc. It can be helped a lot better with surgery. Right now I'm too overweight to be a candidate. So that's cool. In the meantime, I needed some serious help. I can't stand for a long period of time to do regular daily tasks such as shopping, cleaning, doing the laundry or the dishes. It's hard to exercise. It's hard to sit. It's hard to sleep! I was getting desperate, and decided to take the plunge and try acupuncture. Jessica was my first provider. She's very sweet and made sure I was comfortable with my first visit. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to healing and I have her to thank for FINALLY giving me some LASTING relief of this pain! The treatment truly works between using the needles and the cupping technique, I've never been more pleased with results I've been searching for, for years! I also see Molly in rotation with Jessica, when one is not available I will see the other. Molly is also amazing! Her techniques and routine are a little different than Jessica's too which I feel is beneficial to my body to get a bit of a change once in a while. Molly is a great conversationalist and is also full of wisdom when it comes to overall health. Both Jessica and Molly make my visits feel like a spa treatment because it's so incredibly relaxing. Sometimes I fall asleep! I would also like to mention the receptionists at Selby are always very friendly and welcoming! Parking is breeze, they comp your parking fee at the Blair Arcade lot. Just bring in your ticket to your appt and the receptionist will take care of it for you. Thank you Selby Acupuncture for providing the help I needed! I'm wishing I tried acupuncture sooner!

She explained very thoroughly the "art" of acupuncture and its health and mental benefits. Julie is so kind, gentle, and if you have any questions she is more than willing to explain them to you. She has 30, 60 and 90 minute massages. Lori is the sweetest, most knowledgeable massage therapist I've ever seen. She explains what she's going to do before she does it, and her touch is just right. Do what I did. Take the acupuncture "plunge". I did it and am beyond happy that I did.

It was also my first time trying this particular type of well was treatment so I I have nothing to compare it to. I booked a 90minute float therapy session Good: Made a last minute appointment and was able to get in so I loved that. The front desk staff was nice when welcoming me. They also have a vending machine that sells THC beverages which was nice. They encouraged me to use the bathroom which was very clean and well stocked. Then essentially explained what to expect while in the room and pretty much left me alone. That was nice. The not so good: An even better experience would have been to offer robes before going into the float room or something to get guest more relaxed before going into the tank. Or maybe a glass of cold water. I understand wanting to control water intake but it gets pretty warm in the room and you get thirsty! There was no soap available and you are required to shower before getting into the tub. I didn't realize what was in the shower was shampoo and conditioner because they weren't labeled. They give you a thing to support your head while floating but I think providing goggles or some sort of eye protection would have been epic. Maybe someone more seasoned would have know to bring something but it was my first time. So of course I got salt in my eyes. Very uncomfortable. There was also no sort of lotion for after the session I did ask about it and was told they had a shipment delayed and so they didn't have any of the things you'd expect to be standard at a spa. While I understand. It would have been a good idea to include a care note or something to give a head up. That was disappointing In summary. I didn't have a bad time or a great time. It was just okay. The float therapy itself was good but I think the business missed the mark on the pre and post care for me.

Jessica French and Nancy Bierma are the people I see for this and both are so friendly and knowledgeable. They always have product recommendations and information if asked but are never pushy about buying products. They recently added a massage therapist to their practice and Ray Neil is AMAZING. My spouse and I have both had massages and have left every time feeling relaxed and/or had pain reduced. The pressure is definitely not too light and she is generally intuitive about what is needed (I have asked for a little more pressure once and it was PERFECT), plus she has some great techniques for stretching/loosening painful areas. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Appointments are super easy to book online; if an appointment time is not available, call to see if they have some appointment times that are not listed online. The officer managers are all friendly and helpful. They also have some lovely products onsite to buy if you're interested, and they will usually offer you a cup of herbal tea after your treatment. They also accept HealthParters and Cigna insurance for acupuncture, just in case you have those carriers and acupuncture is covered under your plan. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Crocus Hill Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. I am thankful to have found such a wonderful, relaxing, and healing place.

For 4 reasons: 1) billing and…read moreinsurance problems and confusion causing me to spend a lot of time correcting their errors. 2) the treatment rooms are cinderblock and my treatments coincided with below zero weather. No heat. 3) Their solution was to use heat lamps. The last 2 times I went, I was feeling that I was getting burned. I shouted for help loudly and in a panic, and it took a long time to get Dr. Yang to come. I was so scared. The second time this happened -same thing - a woman came to my rescue and said she could not take the lamps away!!!??? Dr. Yang came in and I told him to turn them off. Horrible experience. 4) when I got the bills, they had the audacity to charge $6.18 each visit for heat lamps. None of my complaint is about acupuncture, it is about how they run their business. I will never go back, and cannot recommend it because of these things.

I was referred here by a friend and they were able to get me in for an appointment the same day. The initial cost was only $18! When you walk in, you will immediately smell what seems to be burning incense or sage (or something). Almost everyone there is Chinese and little English was spoken unless talking to a patient. For a minute I felt like I wasn't in MN anymore (thank goodness). I was seen by a student from the clinic, though there is the option to be seen by a faculty member. Faculty members do consult with the students before treatment. The level of care, concern and attention shown to me by the student and faculty member was impressive. They were able to come up with a solid treatment plan and also gave me some chinese herbs to take for a few weeks. I will be seeing them consistently for awhile and am so happy and relieved to have found them! If you've never had acupuncture, it's mostly pain free, maybe slightly uncomfortable. They leave you in the room with heat lamps and calming music for the 20-30 minutes that the needles are in. The student told me a lot of people fall asleep during that time. The academy also offers a host of other medical treatments in addition to acupuncture. It's also good to know that you can use FSA or HSA money to pay for treatments and some insurance companies cover services. It is pretty affordable if you do end up having to pay out of pocket.
