I've had chronic sciatic pain for over 10 years. I've tried physical therapy, chiropractic care,…read moremassage therapy, stretching, exercise/weight loss, spinal injections similar to an epidural, medication...pretty much everything but witchcraft. Oh, and acupuncture! I have always been freaked out by the idea of acupuncture (amongst the typical fears, but I also have to thank Final Destination). My sciatic pain is caused by a bulging disc. It can be helped a lot better with surgery. Right now I'm too overweight to be a candidate. So that's cool. In the meantime, I needed some serious help. I can't stand for a long period of time to do regular daily tasks such as shopping, cleaning, doing the laundry or the dishes. It's hard to exercise. It's hard to sit. It's hard to sleep! I was getting desperate, and decided to take the plunge and try acupuncture. Jessica was my first provider. She's very sweet and made sure I was comfortable with my first visit. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to healing and I have her to thank for FINALLY giving me some LASTING relief of this pain! The treatment truly works between using the needles and the cupping technique, I've never been more pleased with results I've been searching for, for years! I also see Molly in rotation with Jessica, when one is not available I will see the other. Molly is also amazing! Her techniques and routine are a little different than Jessica's too which I feel is beneficial to my body to get a bit of a change once in a while. Molly is a great conversationalist and is also full of wisdom when it comes to overall health. Both Jessica and Molly make my visits feel like a spa treatment because it's so incredibly relaxing. Sometimes I fall asleep! I would also like to mention the receptionists at Selby are always very friendly and welcoming! Parking is breeze, they comp your parking fee at the Blair Arcade lot. Just bring in your ticket to your appt and the receptionist will take care of it for you. Thank you Selby Acupuncture for providing the help I needed! I'm wishing I tried acupuncture sooner!

She explained very thoroughly the "art" of acupuncture and its health and mental benefits. Julie is so kind, gentle, and if you have any questions she is more than willing to explain them to you. She has 30, 60 and 90 minute massages. Lori is the sweetest, most knowledgeable massage therapist I've ever seen. She explains what she's going to do before she does it, and her touch is just right. It was also my first time trying this particular type of well was treatment so I I have nothing to compare it to. I booked a 90minute float therapy session Good: Made a last minute appointment and was able to get in so I loved that. The front desk staff was nice when welcoming me. They also have a vending machine that sells THC beverages which was nice. They encouraged me to use the bathroom which was very clean and well stocked. Then essentially explained what to expect while in the room and pretty much left me alone. That was nice. The not so good: An even better experience would have been to offer robes before going into the float room or something to get guest more relaxed before going into the tank. Or maybe a glass of cold water. I understand wanting to control water intake but it gets pretty warm in the room and you get thirsty! There was no soap available and you are required to shower before getting into the tub. I didn't realize what was in the shower was shampoo and conditioner because they weren't labeled. They give you a thing to support your head while floating but I think providing goggles or some sort of eye protection would have been epic. Maybe someone more seasoned would have know to bring something but it was my first time. So of course I got salt in my eyes. Very uncomfortable. There was also no sort of lotion for after the session I did ask about it and was told they had a shipment delayed and so they didn't have any of the things you'd expect to be standard at a spa. While I understand. It would have been a good idea to include a care note or something to give a head up. That was disappointing In summary. I didn't have a bad time or a great time. It was just okay. The float therapy itself was good but I think the business missed the mark on the pre and post care for me.

There's an entry with the check in desk to pay for the service and go over any body issues you're having. You're then taken back where it's a big open room with curtains separating the chairs. You pick up a blanket or can bring your own. Masks are still required. Once seated the acupuncturist will place needles in your arms, legs and sometimes head. Clothes are left on but you do need to be able to roll up your sleeves or pant legs. You sit for 45 minutes after needles are placed before she comes back to take them out. This was my very first acupuncture experience so I'd probably go to a 1:1 session before deciding if I like it but I definitely had sone muscle spasms afterwards and had to get cupping for it to help. They're website is easy enough to use but appointments are super limited so it's hard to get in consistently. I also wonder how only placing needles on arms and legs impacts your bodies' ability to release energy. If you already like acupuncture and need an affordable option definitely check this place out. I'd recommend going to a 1:1 session first though before doing community.

I find it to be a very comfortable environment where everyone has his own recliner and is treated in a large room. Trish has white noise machines going so you can't really hear others or her consulting with other patients. I like scheduling appointments online and I also really appreciate how Trish, the acupuncturist, includes community in her practice and how she collects food for a local food pantry. Trish listens attentively and offers treatment and tucks you in with a blanket for a quick Acu-nap. It's really terrific. I have been to a private acupuncturist and was charged $85 for a 45 minute treatment--ugh (I could only go once a month). For the service, community acupuncture is a bargain as she has a range you can pay ($15-40 per session) which is reasonable even if you pay $40. I highly recommend it. The ease of booking, the consult and treatment make it my go to acupuncture spot and I go twice a week. Thanks Trish.

I called as my gps took me close but not exactly to the spot so I arrived about 10:18. I was not seen by the Dr. until almost 11am and she entered the room without explanation or apology for the delay. She asked me a few questions about pain and then proceeded with cupping therapy (what I booked the appointment for). The treatment itself was pretty simple, I've had cupping before. I thought it was odd that the Dr herself didn't come back to remove the cups or even check on me after the treatment. Cups were removed by the woman who checked me in and I basically never saw the Dr again except very briefly on my way out. When I checked out they tried to charge me $85 + $55 for cupping. Apparently the $85 was the "initial visit fee." I protested immediately and they reduced the charge. For that rate I would expect a thorough medical assessment, some warmth and general interest from the Dr etc. I gave immediate feedback on the wait time with no explanation or heads up and the difference in website pricing vs actual charge. The receptionist was genuinely kind and said she'd pass my comments on to the Dr.

I have been to about five other places for Accupuncture and Dr. Bian has far exceeded any expectations I had. After being treated by her, i realized that I had no idea that Accupuncture could be this beneficial! I noticed a drastic difference in my upper back pain after one treatment. She put a lot more needles in, hooks them up to an electric machine and puts a heating lamp over my body and she has me lay there for twice as long as other places did. She also does cupping, which feels awesome. She is treating me for back pain, weight balance, and emotional support. I have had only five treatments so far and I can feel a big difference. There is no chiropractic care here. I combine my treatments with Dr. Lori at Arts District Chiropractic. I have been to about six other places to get this service, and she is the best. (I will write a separate review about her). Working with both Dr. Bian and Dr. Lori has truly been life changing. They are a great combo.

I am grateful for this terrific and effective treatment, and I would like to share as I received this physician recommendation from a friend.
