So, you know when you see solidly raving Yelp reviews? And you're like... this Sarah girl just can't be THAT good at sticking people with needles. Well, she's pretty dang good. Not that many people know this about me, but I actually studied pre-med and for a moment I thought about going into holistic medicine (which, in hindsight, was a crazy idea because at the time I had never experienced any holistic treatments). Anyway point is: acupuncture, naturopathy,Traditional Chinese Medicine... it's fascinating to me. Fast forward many years and I finally wise up and try acupuncture at Attune and really like it. I've been seeing Sarah for a little over a month now. We started with weekly sessions for about four weeks and now have moved to monthly-ish sessions. I liked her from the get-go, but I feel like am starting to feel real results too: less back/shoulder pain, lower stress levels, clearer skin. I'm sure it's a combination of other things too, but I'll definitely give her some credit where it's due! :) We had a very thorough consultation right before the first treatment--she asks more questions and gets into more detail than ANY doctor you will probably ever have (she even had me record a 7-day diet log). She's a very good listener and checks in on numerous things before each regular session too in order to figure out if anything should be adjusted in the treatment plan. I'm a curious cat, and she's great at answering my weird (and sometimes technical) questions. The actual acupuncture isn't scary at all. The only time it actually felt uncomfortable for a minute was when she did the points in the ear, but even that wasn't so bad after a few minutes. In fact, the whole thing is so relaxing that I almost always fall asleep with the needles in. As a frame of reference, it takes me a minimum of a half-hour to fall asleep normally. The immediate after-effects vary, but the first treatment I was so relaxed afterwards that I just kinda drove home in a cloud. And I almost always sleep better the night after a treatment. I feel like acupuncture is something that can seem inaccessible to some people. One of the best things about Attune is that it's not so far over on the alternative spectrum that I feel out of place wearing mascara and carrying a leather bag (for lack of a better example). Her office is small and calming, sans patchouli. Costs vary a bit, but the initial session is $90 and then it's $70/per follow-up session. My blessed California health insurance covers acupuncture, so I feel lucky to be able to afford this kind of treatment with only a reasonable co-pay. Sarah doesn't bill insurance companies directly (some acupuncturists do), but she is helping me put together the paperwork I'll need to get reimbursed. In addition to the acupuncture treatments, Sarah prescribed some herbs through an online pharmacy too and was cost-conscious in keeping it under $1/day. (P.S. From someone who tried to concoct her own herbal tinctures a few years ago, it is ill-advised to DIY like a mad scientist. See a professional who knows what they are doing, for your own sake.) One last thing I like about Sarah is that unlike some practitioners (in any field), she doesn't seem to WANT to see you. She seems to genuinely want you to feel healthy and need treatments LESS often. It's refreshing. read more

I'm so glad that I found Sarah. I saw her initially for a stress-related outbreak of shingles, and have been back since for other issues (stress, PMS, etc). She is not only an expert in Chinese medicine and acupuncture, but also just a really kind, caring, awesome person. I was very skeptical of trying acupuncture, but after I was plagued with injuries in my back that wouldn't go away, I decided to try it. Why not? After having a few sessions with Sarah, I think it is safe to say I am seeing results! I am feeling better. I have been seeing Sarah for acupuncture for several years now. She is wonderful!!! When I first started seeing her I could barely move my neck and I had a headache. She put a needle in my foot and I instantly felt something in my foot. I asked her about it and she said that that needle was for my headache. By the end of the session my headache was gone! More recently, I had been having allergic reactions to preservatives which resulted in scales (literally!) on my face, hairline and back into the scalp. Once I had the allergies figured out I could not get rid of the scales on my scalp. Between the acupuncture and the herbal remedies prescribed by Sarah the scales were gone within a month!!! I have so enjoyed working with Sarah these past few months as i was dealing with some lymphatic and energy/adrenal issues, was really struggling to get back on my feet after a very stressful series of life events. Before we started working together i was dealing with breast tenderness, brain fog, and fatigue, among other things. The first thing that improved after 1 or 2 sessions with sarah was the breast pain (it hurt to be hugged by people)-- it was totally gone after those first treatments and hasn't returned since. i attribute my overall improvement partially to sarah's initial intake process, which was very thorough so we started from a good place. Sarah has been very helpful for me in my journey with psoriasis. She listens very well, which is so affirming, to all my concerns and then has been able help me each time with Chinese Herbs and/or acupuncture.
