I stopped…read moreexercising for a month and it felt better, but then suddenly recurred and got steadily worse -- to the point that I could no longer walk more than a hundred yards. I finally saw an orthopedist, who quickly diagnosed a herniated disc and referred me to a PT that he respected. That PT did all the usual visual assessments and thought that it was just a bulging disc, giving me a series of extremely painful exercises that I couldn't get complete. He assured me it was just "my body trying to protect itself", but after four days I decided to seek another opinion. I was familiar with Orthology through several channels, and found a woman in the Eden Prairie office with numerous degrees after her name and a background that seemed in line with my issues. My first PT session was much more hands-on and included some (very painful) massage therapy that seemed to help (my body was so out-of-whack that all sorts of muscles were spasming). I was given a series of stretching and strengthening exercises, along with specific posture recommendations -- some of which were directly opposite what the first PT prescribed. In addition, my PT (Shawn) diagnosed me with spinal stenosis, which I was able to confirm after my own on-line research based on my symptoms. Over the next 12 visits over the course of 6 weeks, my symptoms started to subside and the focus turned from massage to stretching and intense core work. I am now pain-free, but I need to always be conscious of my posture and keep up with my core work. Scheduling was easy and straightforward, with text reminders of upcoming appointments. Payment was very easy (Medicare in this case), and the facility is modern and clean. I'm sure I'll be coming back to address some future issue as my body ages!

I made an appointment with Dr. Eric Koch at Orthology and was able to get in the next day. The office was very clean and they were of course taking proper COVID precautions. Dr. Koch was very friendly and professional, asked me in-depth questions about the pain I was having and massaged out the spots that were causing discomfort. He came up with a personalized recovery plan for me and walked me through several different stretches and movements that would help the healing. The next day I was pretty sore in the areas he had worked on, but two days later my pain was almost 90% gone! I was amazed - after being in pain every time I took a deep breath for almost three weeks, I had gone half the day before I even remembered that I had been injured. Would highly recommend seeing Dr. Koch at Orthology!

Bethany is a pelvic floor lifesaver. I have been affected with very bad SPD/symphysis pubis…read moredysfunction/pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy, and it has gotten progressively worse with each pregnancy, striking earlier and earlier and becoming more and more debilitating. I found Bethany on a midwife referral in my third pregnancy and now, in my fourth pregnancy, I can confidently say that I wouldn't be walking around (literally) without her help. SPD pain feels like "your pelvis is wrenching part" (the What To Expect When You're Expecting website's words, not mine, but I agree). A visit with Bethany involves checking my alignment, and then doing manual release around the hips, thighs, and pelvis. And yes, that means external and internal. It can be painful, but I can honestly say that her work is worth it. I immediately feel better and can hobble through my day for the day of the session and the next few. Being late in my third trimester (of my final pregnancy, trust me), I know there's nothing that will help this pain completely until the delivery, but Bethany is my lifeline and makes "survival mode" possible. She's also an amazing human being. From the jump, it's clear she knows her stuff about pelvic floor health, and she's always working on her craft and knowledge. She made me feel very comfortable and at home (and pelvic therapy can be an embarrassing topic). She's smart. She's kind. She's hilarious. If you're struggling with ANY pelvic pain or pelvic floor issues, pay her a visit immediately. You won't regret it.

After testing, it was made clear to me I needed to seek therapy ASAP. My pelvic floor was so weak it truly effected my life everyday and my marriage. I was 27 years old at the time, living a active and healthy lifestyle with no children. I was so frustrated at my situation, there was minimal information online about my dysfunction but when I found Bethany she was a god sent to me. She worked with me, felt my pain, researched and shared information and was so patient and caring. I could never even think of going to anyone else and because of her. Now 3 years later, my symptoms have subsided and some weeks resulting in no symptoms at all. I have grown stronger in my breathing, pelvic floor exercises and most importantly peace of mind. I honestly have never been so impressed with a therapist. I have so much respect for a her professionally and as a individual at such a high level. The care and energy she puts into her clients is bar none.

I did agree with the final assessment and to defer to my treating Dr on fce results and workability. (She is not a Dr and doesn't know my MRI findings or understand my physical pain) 1 star. FYI... I understand that everything you say and do and carry and attitude will be recorded. ( I shared that there were people from work comp insurance stalking me, carlyn told the whole room outloud to the others.) -1 When music was playing all day to get you to interact or staff would talk to you....(then she wrote I seemed cheerful and not in intense pain) -1 When carlyn asked for a picture of me for work comp, I said no and a work comp private investigator showed up the 3rd day to look at me up close in person and watch me in the hall. -1 I had to be my own advocate. I had to say what I can and cannot do after intense physical movements and severe pain and no sleep those nights after fce. I took medications often to help get thru this 19 hour assessment. Don't take your medications at all. Try and do what you can and be VERY verbal with carlyn, while she is observing you at all times and giving her opinion in writing. Saunders/Carlyn/Jason works for the paying insurance company. -1
