When returning from Stockbridge to our campground in Becket, we were looking for a local place for dinner and discovered this hidden gem. Quaint and a bit rustic, it exuded a homey, comfortable feeling. Although we were the only diners eating inside (they have outdoor seating too) there was a constant stream of takeout while we were there. My wife opted for a chicken quesadilla with peppers, while I chose a corned beef Reuben, which turned out to be one of the best I've ever had. Stacked full of lean, tender corned beef, I was almost full after the first half, but it was so good I couldn't resist finishing it. I now regret not having leftovers. Service was exceptional. We'll probably be back for breakfast. read more

My family just bought a place up here and we are so delighted to be walking distance from Sherwood Shoppe! Mike and Rebecca are very kind and helpful and welcoming. All the food (soup! Carrot cake! Breakfast sandwiches! Grinders! Coffee cake!) has been fabulous. They also carry staples, which make it a godsend when we need something in a pinch. We had so much fun at Sherwood Shoppe, and the food was delicious. This is one of those hidden gems that you will be happy to find -- like time traveling back to the 1960s with great food, friendly owner-chef, and all the camping supplies you could need (including bait!). Great ambiance with its throwback decor and cozy few tables. I absolutely love it here! I ordered a breakfast burrito and my mom ordered a carrot cake. We ordered some other things too and we were all very happy! The food took a while to get to our table, but that's what you should expect if you want fresh food made well. When you come into the shop, you can see things in the process of baking or being left out to cool. There's also a playing space for children, a place for customers to leave their dirty dishes, and a place for coffee, tea, and hot chocolate fills and refills. They have a lot of great options in their grocery section too! They even have chickens outside in the coop for people to admire. They are so cute and their eggs are delicious. The breakfast burrito that I ordered was really good and so was the carrot cake. I was really happy with my experience. The person who served us our food and took our order was really cool too. Visited this sweet spot in the Berkshire Hills on a summer Friday evening. We found a cozy, clean restaurant with an ample menu, store baked sweets and an assortment of grocery items, too. I'm a huge cheese steak fan, so that's what I ordered up at the counter, & then had a seat in the dining room. The grinder was brought to our table by the chef and looked incredible. A hearty toasted roll filled with tender pieces of sliced steak cooked perfectly, nestled alongside peppers onions and mushrooms, topped with melty American cheese. This sandwich was absolutely fantastic!! Delicious from the first bite to the last. Well done Sherwood Shoppe! Thanks for a memorable meal, and I can't wait to visit you again soon. Sherwood Shoppe is tiny, quaint, unique and absolutely charming. It has CHARACTER. It's part restaurant, part grocery store and makes/sells a small selection of fresh baked goods. My friend and I cracked up noticing a shelf giving away free books and DVDs. Moreover, the place has the ambience of "Camelot," the legend of King Arthur. The proprietors of the mom-and-pop joint were so friendly. We were starved and wanted a restaurant close to Jacob's Pillow in Becket. My friend searched and discovered Sherwood Shoppe online. There are limited choices in the area that happened to be open in the morning. What a precious find, a true gem! The Small Village Organic Coffee was very tasty. I liked my scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy. My friend found her Reuben sandwich to be excellent. read more

Good food and very nice owners. This is a great spot for burgers especially. Becket is lucky to have them around. Just a few seats (it is like a country store), but in nice weather it is a joy. One of the joys of the Berkshires is getting off the beaten track and supporting local businesses rather than the corporate structure. This place merits your support. read more

Extremely uneven experience here. We rented a house nearby and knew this was a local option to pick up minor supplies as recommended by the owner of the house. The first time we went in, we were given quite a nice welcome by the woman working the counter. We checked the place out, informed her that we were renting a home nearby for the week and wanted to know what services and products they offered. She was gracious and kind. She answered everything in a great customer service manner. We returned 2 days later to something else entirely. We were looking for a few products to supplement our supply without having to drive a distance. We were immediately swarmed at the front door and asked why we hadn't sanitized our hands. Well, this was not presented to us as a requirement the first time. In fact, I had no idea their dispenser was even there. It wasn't exactly an obvious feature. We complied but still were treated strangely. The male staff member, so obsessed with our appropriate masking, was NOT wearing one when we walked in despite 3 other staff members inside with him. He put it on real quick but he wasn't wearing it. I work in retail management, myself -- **not correct**. You don't get to take your mask off just because there's no customers inside. You still have coworkers. And then have the nerve to attempt to judge us on ours? You've got to be kidding, dude. There was nothing wrong with anything any of us had on. Your breath particles, however, were riding free in the air. My mother in law was harassed outside for smoking after she left for not having a mask they approved of. We had walked a mile to the store as a quick activity, but yes... she's a smoker. There is also an old-style elevated ashtray in front of the building. It's not decorative, it had easily a pack of cigarettes put out in it, nearly overflowing. But she was getting yelled at for using it with the excuse that if someone saw her smoking, they wouldn't stop at the store. They claimed it was a very busy establishment, the ashtray shouldn't have been there (but yet it was there the first time too -- two days prior). Nice try about the "very busy". I've driven by it half a dozen times already and have *never* seen a car outside. I've never seen a single person at an outside table, yet my mother in law was somehow ruining business. In short, the store sells nearly nothing. There's very little in product variety. Empty shelves. One or two of each offering. *This* is a busy store? What's actually there is minimal. You can probably buy a single can of gravy and a bottle of ginger ale here. My little daughter bought a violently misshapen ice cream sandwich out of a cooler for a whole $2.00. I did not buy anything else. I drove to the next town and handed my money to people less irritating. It might seem retaliatory but anyone going in would see this mess for what it is, in terms of a store. I don't know what their prepared food does for business, maybe that's their key. I had seen a pan of cinnamon buns on their counter on Monday that looked extraordinary. I'd have bought them all, probably, if these people weren't so vile. At any rate, I found them extremely unwelcoming and nasty the second time. I wouldn't go in here again if you paid me a handsome fee. It's just not professional in interaction nor in commitment to stock. I don't know if we were discriminated against because we weren't from the neighborhood and were unfamiliar faces... but something was definitely up with them. One star breakdown: the woman the first time was kind. She was a four star girl. The second visit is a solid, hefty, absolute ZERO. You can't give a zero but this is a real zero. Strict mask rules and hand sanitizing station so I felt very safe going in here. The folks who work here are super friendly. I'm a little shy, and was nervous going into an intimate local place but I'm so glad I did. The breakfast was amazing. Until I actually ate the emergency ham & cheese sandwich we got to-go late on our first night in a rental cabin, eating again in this hole in the wall would not have even been a dim possibility. However, the marble rye was soft and fresh, the veggies crisp and the protein generous. Then I looked at the reviews--damn we should have tried the fish & chips special! Later we discovered their great onion rings, corned beef hash and muffins. Not a place if you're in a hurray, but if you're staying in the area, walk on down and "set a spell"! The shoppe was adorned with old timers eating breakfast and sharing story. The man behind the counter and the one responsible for preparing the breakfast is welcoming, polite, and good natured. My girlfriends and I stumbled upon this little establishment one morning while visiting the area. The owners were lovely, the environment was warm and welcoming and the food was delicious. Our order eggs, toast, self serve coffee. Ops I forgot orange Juice! And so did they!!! S O O O o o o S L O W Need to Add One more thought about Sherwood. After waiting all this time, The eggs were the opposite of what I asked for & they forgot the orange juice as mentioned above, and oh yes they forgot the Home Fries. Walked there for breakfast on our first day of vacation. The place was nearly empty except for a group of locals who come for their coffee everyday. The staff went above and beyond to help keep our toddler content! The food was delicious too (pancakes, eggs, breakfast burrito) and we actually came back the next day for another breakfast and coffee even though we had eggs at our cabin.
