Far less overwhelming than big box stores when you are mid-project and just need a fabulous paint color. The lighting in the store is actually really optimal for choosing paint colors, and there is a table right near the paint samples on which you can fan out your tile or curtains or whatever it is you are trying to match up. Simple, but much appreciated. They will also store your paint and finish information in the computer in case you need to reference it later and can't remember what the heck you chose. Everything revolves around the customer in this place, and you know what? I love it. Check them out next time you are sprucing up your homestead!

When we realized our Frigidaire refrigerator was on its last legs and we urgently needed a new one,…read morewe chose P.C. Richard & Son, largely because it's the closest appliance store to our house. We did our research, knew what we wanted, and discovered that all the local stores had identical pricing. So it came down to who could deliver the quickest. P.C. Richard was our first (and, ultimately, only) stop. We were not accosted immediately upon entering, but allowed to wander among the rows of refrigerators on display. When we located the model we'd seen online, the salesman was quick to get our sale completed and our delivery set up. Delivery occurred three days later, and that's where the dissatisfaction began. Our delivery window of 1-4PM got later throughout the day, and delivery finally occurred at 5:15PM, during dinner time and a substantial rainstorm. No courtesy call to let us know they were on the way; I just happened to look out my window and there they were, unboxing my fridge in the rain. Had they let me know they were en route, I could've emptied the old fridge and freezer in advance. I don't want to say the delivery guys were inept, but... why unpack the fridge in the truck and carry dripping wet components into the customers' home? Why not carry the box into our garage and unbox it there? Also, they seemed annoyed that I wanted to wipe the rain off each piece, thereby slowing them down; they didn't bring a ladder and had to use our step stool; and in their haste to get it installed and on to the next customer, they left pieces of plastic wrap embedded under the door handles. Plus, they scratched our freezer drawer. Nice fridge that's working well (a week into ownership), but the delivery experience left much to be desired.

We were after one of those green gray tones that everyone seems to be using in family rooms and living rooms right now, and anyone who has tried to nail that range knows it is easy to end up too cold or too sage. Ethan in the paint department steered us to Benjamin Moore and mixed exactly what we were picturing. He asked what room it was going in and how much natural light it got before touching the mixer. That is the part most places skip. Green grays shift hard depending on the light, and getting that question up front is why we did not have to come back for a second batch. Ethan was friendly and patient the whole time, no rushing, no attitude about us taking a minute to decide. Everyone we dealt with in the store was courteous. If you need custom color matching or Benjamin Moore paint in the Watertown area, go here and ask for Ethan in the paint department.
