I've been working on a cabinet from the 40's for six months... I wanted some tinted clear varnish... just a little reddish brown tint, but still clear. As I mentioned I wanted the grain to show through... they said I should stain the wood, which I know a lot of people do, but that's not how these are made, and I'm doing a period correct resoration... so I looked at the various pigments and picked one... but these weren't pigments for clear varnish... because the pigments basically turned this clear varnish into BROWN PAINT... no grain visible... and now the cabinet I rebuilt faithfully with a veneer press that I built, and sustrate for the veneer I imported from europe... that would have been sold for around $3000 tomorrow... is not going anywhere and I'll have to either take this down to the wood again and start over with substrate and then press the veneer... yea... this was a big drag, and I can't do it again... the cab is ruined... and I was pressed for time I would have done a test... but I trusted that they had a better idea than me... I'm not saying to not patronize them, as they have a lot of stuff and it seemed like they were trying to help... they just didn't.

When you come in, don't be judgmental. The majority of the staff here is female, but they know their stuff. I'm prepping my house for sale and needed some paint to touch up the foundation. I knew I had bought it at this store, so i stopped by to grab a gallon. They found me in the system, but did not have the grey foundation paint on record. The young lady suggested I get a chip off the foundation, since it was peeling anyway and bring it in for the computer to figure out. When I went home, lucky for me I found a almost empty container of the paint we used last time we painted. Sometimes it pays off to be a hoarder/pack rat. Any way, back to the paint store when I was ready to paint with can in tow. The young lady waiting on me, asked some basic questions to make sure I was purchasing the right type of paint for my job and then looked up the "recipe" in the computer and got things mixing up for me. I informed her of the other items my painter wanted and she took me over to that area in the retail shop. She then assisted me and made recommendations on which one to buy. Of course she showed me a higher price point, but when I told her it was going to be used once and tossed, she showed me another one and said it would do the job fine. The paint was a perfect match and my painter ended up using the brush for the entire job instead of the roller. He liked it that much. This was an effort in futility. I then worked the internet and came up with this paint store on Lemay Ferry. A phone call to the store resulted in Paige answering. After describing what I was looking for she advised they had the item. A quick trip up there was met with a pleasant shopping experience. Even through these trying times Paige came out to the car showed me what they have inside. She went inside and processed the transaction. They have nice shallow pots that are hard to find, which work perfectly for succulents and cacti with shallow roots. I didn't even go out back, upstairs or downstairs. The place keeps going and going! If you get easily overwhelmed when presented with endless choices, you might make a list of what you are looking for before you go in. I knew what plants I need to repot and kept them in mind when I had to make hard decisions. I'd stop in anytime, because looking around this place is just fun.
