I had a idea of what color paint I wanted but not so much of what finish would be best... and the girl sales associate acted likes she didn't care nor feel like explaining lol. Even after I expressed to her I didn't know anything about paint... (I must add the store was empty so she had time) It seemed as though she was more interested in getting back to the front to talk to the other male associate that was up front instead of helping me. So I just stood there and googled my answers and helped myself!! Once I finally got to the register she continued to talk to the other guy about everything under the sun. Instead of asking "did I find everything I was looking for" lmaooo (sad) I listened to her go on and on until finally she finished ringing my stuff up. I got my receipt and walked out disgusted... I was having trouble finding paint that fit into my budget, although I was flexible about finish and shade (anything that looked white). Wayne mentioned that they had gotten some mis-tint paint in Bone that he could give me a discount on, and then showed me how to sign up for PaintPerks and the text alerts to get more discounts. I ended up far enough under budget that I was able to buy a sample of the color I wanted for my kitchen and a bunch of supplies. Then, when he found out that I would have to walk the three blocks back to my apartment with a 5-gallon bucket of paint, he offered to lend me one of the store's extra handtrucks to get it home. Wayne was friendly, helpful, thoughtful, and really went above and beyond with the service he provided to me. I will DEFINITELY be coming back to this location in the future when I paint my kitchen and do other projects, and I'm so glad to know that this store is right in my neighborhood. Thank you, Wayne!

If you want the experience of a big box store that has almost everything, and is the same in every city or town, and where no one cares about anything, don't come to Kilian's. But if you want to talk to a real person about what concrete anchors they recommend, or about which adhesives work best for pressure treated lumber, you could do worse. All of the contractors I've dealt with with the exception of Beauty Walls - have enjoyed back and forth communication, and being very communicative and clear. Sviat literally told us "I'm not in the communications department" on one of his bad days where he was 'inconvenienced' by having to respond to our emails and requests. He rage deleted our project from his system, and when we asked him about it he said that he let his emotions get the best of him and shouldn't have done it in the moment (see more later). Dealing with him and his business delayed our move in date by a month. A prime example of communications with him will be ie - send email Monday, no reply, we follow up Wednesday, then he replies, then we respond within minutes to hours, and have to follow up again Friday for an update. We were going to try to make it work with him - since he did our floors for another property many years ago and went without hiccup. He emailed us (this is copy and pasted: " I made a mistake deleting that estimate, I started again and I'm not able to overcome my emotions. Sorry I can't do your floors. There are good companies on Yelp.com or Angi.com with trustful reviews. We can do painting for you after the floors are done" I would recommend this business if you are ok dealing with this unprofessionalism and childlike behavior As soon as we moved onto quotes from 2 other businesses, WOW night and day. Very communicative, no babysitting and having to follow up for responses, and even more - wow no complaining about having to communicate?! Bonkers. Such a horrible experience, when I really wanted to initially support an independent family business.
