I stopped by on the way to Home Depot to get some stain. Met Julian Ureno who was extremely knowlegable and took the time to explain everything I needed to know. I had a large order and he suggested a business account which saved me a ton of money on my first purchase. I'd stop by here prior to going to HD next door. Kyle at your store for in Costa Mesa was so helpful and friendly. I really appreciated his help making samples for me to try. I just wish we didn't have to buy some big a sample. Avoid this location at all costs, the manager is absolutely terrible and will go as far as making up false information just to avoid a return/fixing a mistake. Terrible experience, terrible staff, very slow overall, just avoid this location. The Fountain Valley location is excellent with awesome, helpful staff, no need to go to the Costa Mesa location when they have such poor service and a dishonest manager. read more

The first time we needed paint (for some shelving) we went to Home Depot. BIG MISTAKE. Their "matching" was a joke and I had to repaint the entire unit to cover their terrible job. Also the paint itself was disappointing. But I digress. This time we needed paint for some kitchen cabinetry around the new oven we're getting. The old paint had bubbled and chipped and so we wanted a high-temp resistant paint that matched the rest of the kitchen. At first we went to Ace, but the kid there was clueless. Not wanting to repeat the HD debacle, we left. I knew there was a Sherwin Williams just down the street, so we decided to try it out. YAY! Best painting decision ever! We actually learned quite a bit from James, the paintdude on duty. We discovered that most paints you can get are NOT very heat-resistant because of environmental laws. However, you CAN get better (oil-based, instead of water-based) paint still in quart sizes--they're exempt! For our small job, a quart or two was perfect. James' color matching was perfect. I've already done one coat, and at this second I'm waiting for it to dry to apply the second. The paint was beautiful. Went on so smooth, perfect match as it dries. He did not try to upsell us, but gave perfect recommendations when asked. He told us how to pick the perfect brush (and it was, though not the most expensive) and that the foam brush-thing I was eyeing would leave bubbles (and it did, with the previous shelving, and I didn't know that was because of the foam). Since we were starting from scratch painting-wise we ended up with two quarts of paint, custom colored, a good brush, paint thinner to clean the brush, sandpaper to smooth out the previous paint's bubbles and to make the new paint stick better (again, James gave us great advice on which texture and technique), spackle for gouges, and masking tape to protect the trim and attached unpainted cabinets. Total? Fifty bucks for all that, and his expertise. It helped that he kicked us a 30% discount on everything a day early of the Labor Day sale. Awesome! Thanks, James. You have won our home-improvement hearts. ***Yes, I realize now that I used the word "perfect" a lot, but you would too if you were as pleased as I am. I honestly cannot think of anything I would do differently next time. read more

The place is close by and you can't beat the color matching they do there. I have been there several times and the people who work there know there business. I had problems with floor refinishing and they helped me sort out the solution for uneven staining of the vintage oak plank. Prices are higher than the Depot but if you want better than average service and products you expect to pay a little more. read more

Great customer service. Color of gallon Harmony paint somehow ended up not being the same as original sample pint. Although it had been quite a while since the original purchase, they had no problem with mixing me up another gallon that matches the sample pint perfectly! Very happy now. read more

BEST PLACE TO BUY OVERPRICED PAINT AND RECEIVE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Honestly I don't know why this place hasn't been bankrupt for years. Cheaper and better paint elsewhere down the street (Home Depot, Behr, Vista Paint, Ace Hardware, Dunn Edwards). Better customer service attitude at Del Taco and McDonalds. Young guy at front desk has a "don't give a crap" attitude about everything. Don't waste your time and money here when there are much more compelling options that are as convenient. read more

Called this store because I had an issue with the paint my contractor got. I forget his name but it started with an M, was super helpful and told me to bring the paint in. He was able to dilute it with more white so it wasn't as dark. His customer service was on point and I'll definitely be back. read more

I went in for stain and such and picked up some wood filler. At checkout, it's $9 I say that's a bit too much. He takes it out of my order. As I'm walking out, I see another wood filler for $4. WTF? Thanks for the recommendation dude! I didn't even stop to buy it, I just left. read more
