I contracted them to completely repaint the walls in a townhouse that was between tenants. Luis accepted the 4 day window of time and the estimate beat competitors by thousands of dollars. What I didn't expect was the exceptional preparation and repair prior to painting. They did so much more than simply filling nail holes. They spackled and sanded every imperfection in the walls. They laid plastic and drop cloths over every floor, including the stairs. After seeing the great look of the walls, I asked Luis to paint the trim as well. The estimate he provided for this late request was unbeatable. With a ten man motivated and very personable team, they were nearing completion by the middle of the second day when I decided they should also paint the ceilings. Again another unbeatable estimate. These guys are great and fast. They even repaired a damaged base board molding next to the refrigerator at no extra cost. The completed job was great. Luis and his team at Liberty Painting have my strongest recommendation. I will definitely use them again. Their cost and quality of work cannot be beat.

This company is by far one of the best paint contractors I've ever worked with. They're currently still working in my house for a big multi room project, but I was so pleased with the work they've already begun to do that I just had to post a review. Luis is very pleasant and professional. They offer competitive pricing. And most importantly, his team is superb. I've already highly recommended Liberty Painting to the owner of Benjamin Moore franchise in McLean, VA as well as friends, family and neighbors. In a world of greedy, lying, money hungry contractors who are more interested in over quoting and not being as professional as they promote themselves to be, Liberty Painting sells itself simply on fair pricing, honesty and excellence in workmanship. I recommend this company 1 million percent From a happy customer!

First - We had a few date discussions but selection could not be made until after deposit was paid. Once deposit was given, I asked for one date change, with a week notice, which we went back and forth on due to them not working Fridays. Second - No where in the estimate or any other communication, written or verbal, did they convey any admin fees other than actual paint related. Third - As I was moving into a new home from out of state, the painting date had to be moved to accommodate furniture placement. This was only done with their consent (one time) and at the time of request, I told them any day a particular week would work. They confirmed the change to 14 Sept. However, approximately a week and half later, as we approached the date, I received a confirmation for 15 Sept. I immediately reached out and said the date was 14. Ms. Jathiya responded that yes but since I stated any day that week (over a week ago) they took the liberty of changing the date. I explained that a lot has happened since you confirmed the 14th with work so I couldn't accommodate the 15th due to me planning meetings around the 14th. With COVID, work schedules have been crazy and trying to coordinate availability for multiple peers is difficult so to move a few days before wasn't possible. Anyway I asked for a deposit ($750) refund so that I could find someone else to paint. They agreed. Nearly three weeks later I didn't see the credit on my Amex. I reached out and Jathiya stated she'll get right on it. Well she sends me a receipt and it's for $700! I'm like what the heck. I call and she proceeds to tell me there are admin fees. I replied that you can't charge fees that the customer didn't know about nor agree to. Additionally you changed the date. She replied that the date was changed a few times, I said once, that was agreed to by both parties. She kept talking and I was done. I'm disputing this madness. After receipt of copies of the written estimate and email conversation, Amex refunded the full amount of $750. BEWARE OF THESE FOLKS!!!!!!

Peppermint gave us a good bid, booked us promptly, handled the payment smoothly online, and did great work. They have excellent Covid precautions, and everyone wore masks the entire time, which I'm sure makes for uncomfortable working conditions, but it saves me fretting of everyone's safety, theirs and ours. The room looks terrific, and we will definitely hire them again.

I went here recently because I was in the hunt for a new Yukata but stumbled so much beyond that…read more They were one of the shops at the Sakura Matsuri DC event that sold Kimonos/Yukatas/Obis, ect... First thing out of the way, Arise Bazaar is not easy to find but I made it easier to find. It's behind the shops in front as soon as you enter. Past the first row of places, immediately make a left and you'll see Arise. I think they did not have a sign at the time luckily it was not hard to spot ( there was a van that had cherry blossoms as a dead giveaway too ). Second, the person (Paul) who runs this shop does not open this shop frequently. If it is not a sale he is doing, most of the time you'd have to schedule an appointment for him to come out. It's a bit strange but since my visit was based on his IG post about a sale on everything in the store, it was enticing for me to check it out. They just have really limited hours so I highly suggest you go early. Third, while I am all for supporting Arise Bazaar, the items I got besides the Yukata might be on Amazon. I realized after buying my Clip On Obi that it's cheaper on there but I will leave that to your digression. That being said.. Walking in here, this is a warehouse full of antiques. From pottery to paintings, to kimonos/yukatas.. there's a lot going on here. Paul, the person who runs the store was kind enough to take time to show me where the Yukatas were at and left me to see what color scheme or design I wanted to try out. He was nice and even offered to help me put the yukata on. Since I wanted more than the Yukata, I also tried out the Clip on Obi he recommended. He was not really knowledgeable and tried his best to help me put it on securely but he offered to see if a staff member could come in to help assist in the future. After picking out the Yukata and the Clip on Obi, we looked at fans to buy and he was generous enough to let me get an extra fan as a gift. I think the total after the discount was around 200 which was a nice deal. My only complaint is that the store is very all over the place. Many boxes of things that could be out in display, there were Kimonos/Yukatas I did not get to check out and I wish I mentioned that sooner. Paul is also an expert of Kimonos, but if you wanted to get your kimono actually dressed professionally, he has to inquire with a staff member who's more prepared for that. I just found it a bit difficult to understand if it's your profession to be an expert but not be able to not tie a Kimono/Yukata. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh but I want people to what to expect. Overall my experience was great, I do want to support the store despite knowing some items could be a bit pricier. Definitely a hidden gem if you are on the hunt for Japanese Antiques!

(Unfortunately, my best efforts to get a full read of the artist's signature have proven unfruitful so far, so we have to say this is by an "anonymous artist," but I keep trying to find someone who can decode the inscriptions. I'll include a photo here.) I've read other reviews saying that this warehouse is a bit chock-a-block and hard to navigate. I would submit that a) the proprietor, Paul MacLardy, does most of his business at shows, which is to say: this is a *warehouse," b) if you tell Paul what you're interested in, he'll either locate it immediately in said warehouse, or remember what you're interested in and contact you if he finds what you want, however long that takes. (I have him on the lookout now for a great piece of kintsugi/kintsukuroi. If anyone can find it, it will be Paul.) c) the warehouse has been completely reorganized just this year, to make for a much easier browsing experience. I saw one reviewer take Paul to task for "not being Japanese." I don't want to dignify that with a response, except to say that Paul has encyclopedic knowledge of Japanese art and costume from all periods. He's even been called to the White House more than once to appraise Japanese art gifts! And he's literally "written the book" on kimono. Bottom line: I give this place five stars, and I'm sorry that anyone else has had anything less than a very positive experience.
