Bottom line: I would not even consider letting anyone from this company in my home again to fix their poor workmanship. And giving them one star is too many. My wife hired Liberty Painting to paint the entire second floor of our townhome. She found them on Yelp, and they had lots of good reviews. In hindsight, I don't believe all the reviews here on Yelp are real. (This was before I found Consumer Checkbook, which I've found more helpful since.) The entire experience with them was terrible, from scheduling to work quality. Below I provide some examples, but this isn't even an exhaustive list. ** We agreed on a start date, which they ultimately rescheduled. This was a problem because we had subsequently scheduled a flooring company to come in and work 1.5 weeks after the painting was to be complete. That is, we didn't schedule back-to-back in case something went wrong. And we did make it very clear to them from the beginning that the dates we agreed on were firm. I was skeptical, because it was a lot of work for a short amount of time, but they repeatedly said in response to my concerns that it would be no problem, and that they had a large crew. Ultimately, they didn't honor the agreed upon dates, and rescheduled to complete the job the day before flooring company started. This created a headache for us. ** They said they'd have something like 10 guys working simultaneously over the course of about a week. I never saw more than 3 workers, until the last workday. (I worked from home and was at the house all day.) And as we got close to the end date they still had *a lot* of work to complete. Here I raised my concerns again, but only until the last day did they show up with a full crew. That day they worked late, probably until midnight, which was disruptive not only for us but our neighbors. (Think 10 guys working and you are trying to sleep in bed on the other side of the wall.) ** The quality of the work looks like a last-minute job, done after dark. They painted over electrical plugs, light switches, did not bother to take out unused wall anchors or apply filler where necessary, yet also missed a lot of spots that they should have painted. They left paint on our hardwood floors, as well as our exterior front porch on the way out. I could go on, but ultimately the point is that they were disorganized, unresponsive to concerns, did very poor work, and did a terrible job at not getting paint everywhere it shouldn't be. read more

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with Liberty Painting! I was referred to Liberty Painting, (specifically Luis), by a friend of mine as we are looking to get estimates on painting our newly constructed condo. To start the estimate process, I reached out to their business contact information by phone and email. As soon as I called, the (202) number, Luis picked up the phone, said hello, and then hung up on me as I started talking. Even after this, I was not upset at all considering that I figured maybe the called drop or he suddenly got busy. However, he never attempted to call me back by phone, even after this incident and after I contacted him by email soon after to still get an estimate. I did finally get a response back from Luis by email later that evening. Although, I had hoped that Luis would have just called me rather than us communicating back and forth by a few emails for an estimate, especially since I was unable to show them our place yet as our settlement date isn't until a month away and would have been easier to communicated what we wanted and how everything is laid out by phone. Anyhow, I still continued forward with this preferred mode of communication by Luis and Liberty Painting, and didn't worry about it, but soon after Luis provided us with his estimate, I emailed Luis back and I asked him a couple of questions regarding the estimates and if it was possible for us to provide our own paint, etc. Sadly, even if he was not willing to accommodate our requests or questions, the least he could have done, was respond back to us with a simple NO and we would have accepted that. However, he never responded back to us by email or phone at all since our last email asking him a few questions based on the provided estimate, and it has now been 5+ days since then. It is unfortunate that this is the way that Luis and Liberty Painting operate their business and exhibit a lack of communication with their customers. read more

I am so happy with the work Liberty Painting did for me and my roommate in a new apartment. From the start, Luis was accommodating, honest, polite and professional. He worked with us to get all of the work done less than a week after we got the first estimate. He finished the entire apartment (1 1/2 bedrooms, 1 bath, 15 foot ceilings) in one day with another several hours for touch ups. Overall, the painting job was very good. We had a few areas that we wanted him to take another look at (a few uneven coats in spots) which he immediately agreed to do--at no additional charge. I appreciated how he was so willing to come see what we weren't absolutely happy with and then to fix it right then and there. For interior painting, I think it is a tiny bit expensive but for the peace of mind of having someone you trust do an excellent job on short notice without leaving any mess behind, it was worth it and I would happily hire them again. Comes highly recommended. read more

I recently had Liberty Painting paint both my house and garage (while replacing the soffit, fascia and gutter on one side of the garage), and I couldn't be happier with the results! From start to finish, they exceeded all of my expectations. The entire job was completed within a week, and they worked efficiently over just two days. The team was clean, respectful, and incredibly hardworking throughout the process. Not only was their pricing very competitive, but the quality of their work was outstanding. The attention to detail was impressive, and they left everything spotless once the job was done. I truly appreciated how professional and courteous everyone was--it made the whole experience stress-free. I would absolutely use Liberty Painting again for any future projects and have already recommended them to friends and family. I live in Waldorf Maryland. Luis and his team did an outstanding job painting my kitchen, parts of my living room, basement and a powder room. They also repaired drywall in the basement. I called him and he came out as promised gave me an estimate and it took a little time to get scheduled. Per his instructions, I selected colors and moved everything to the center of the rooms. Once onsite the team was very professional and moved very quickly. I was so happy and excited when I saw how beautiful everything looked. The colors added new life to my home and the baseboards, trim and doors were all bright again. The lines were all clean and distinct. The very best part was they cleaned up everything very well and completed the job in a day and a half. An all around excellent job! I highly recommend Liberty for painting services and will use them again! read more

OMG, Liberty painting acme to my rescue. my husband and I had just bought a new home and needed it painted. We previously had gotten a quote from another person for 16k to paint an entire house. My husband forced, and I mean forced me to paint my sons room. It took us two weeks to finish. I did more research when I decided to call Liberty. I spoke with Luis who sent Alex out the very next day. I got my quote the next day and two days later the 13 men crew was at the house. They were ontime, quick, professional, and they cleaned their mess up. Antonio was the manager on the job and he made sure to clarify things about the. I can say enough about this company accept to call them if you want you home done in a timely manner and done right. I have 2 more projects for then and I know I'll be satisfied. Luis and his crew headed by Antonio painted our entire 5,000 sf house in 4 days, with two coats, including all trim and ceilings. They did very good quality work. Antonio painted stripes in our daughter's bedroom, and he did a fantastic job. We had been just a little concerned about some of the negative reviews, but we can only say our experience was very positive. His crew was very careful with our flooring and furniture, did an excellent job cleaning up, and Luis sent us proof of liability insurance. Luis was easy to communicate with, he always responded to emails and returned phone calls. Their pricing was extremely reasonable compared to other companies we got quotes from. We are very happy with the work, and highly recommend them. We will always use Liberty Painting for any future painting needs! read more

I was very impressed with Liberty. I had reached out to several painters to paint the entire interior and some exterior of my house. It was a big job. Luis (the owner) came and gave an estimate that was fair compared to the others. Luis was able to work with my hectic schedule, handled multiple change requests, bought specific paint we needed, and cleaned everything nicely - even made a couple follow up visits to touch up and clean any splotches on the floor. Luis, the owner, was very communicative via text and phone and his crew was extremely courteous and helpful (particularly when we sprung a leak and the crew pitched in to get buckets under the water leak). The quality was good. I highly recommend Luis and Liberty. read more

I recently hired Liberty Painting for a second project in my home, and they once again exceeded my expectations. They painted three different areas this time, and the entire process was seamless. Communication was prompt--I called on Thursday, and by Tuesday, my project was complete! Liberty Painting came highly recommended by my mom, who's very picky, so I knew I could trust them. I first used their services in 2023 after moving into my new home, where they painted various areas, including our basement and garage. This time, they painted additional rooms, and as always, the team was quick, professional, and affordable. If you're looking for quality, reliable painting services, I highly recommend Liberty Painting! read more

Liberty Painting consistently does an exceptional job on every project we give them. The crew of 4 did a fantastic job on our rowhouse by Eastern Market. Thy showed up on time, were professional and detail orientated, and completed the job quickly. The staircase has decorative molding and simply looks outstanding now with oil gloss black paint from Shermin Williams. The front door is elegant and welcoming in blue. HUGE thank you to Luis for fitting us in on short notice with a very narrow work window available. The team made a world of difference! I recommend Luis and his team to all of my friends...we will definitely use again. read more

We had just bought a 2800 sq. ft. home, which includes cathedral ceilings and a two story great room that we wanted painted with some minor dry wall repairs that was needed before moving in. From start to finish, Luis provided outstanding customer service throughout the process and was great to work with. The team that Luis brought in was very professional, they painted our walls, trims, doors, ceilings and fixtures and everything was done flawlessly. Their work exceeded my expectations ...... I had a fantastic experience with Liberty Painting. I had sought several quotes to repaint my condo, and Luis was both the most responsive and, by a significant margin, the least expensive. His team was available within 48 hours and did top-notch work. Our only small bobble was a minor miscommunication around the scope of work. As soon as the issue became clear, Luis fixed the problem and honored his original quote - which gave me a great deal of confidence in his trustworthiness and professionalism. I've already recommended his team to others and will definitely be using them again as needs arise. read more

We were referred to Luis by a close friend who used him to paint his house. Luis is very professional and quick to get back to you. He and his team did such a great job with the interior of our house we hired them to do the exterior. They took extra care to keep the paint off the floors and furniture. They did not hesitate when I asked them to paint hills in my kid's Mickey Mouse themed playroom. Let me tell you, the line between the "grass" and the "sky" is perfectly sharp. I highly recommend them and have referred them to several of our friends. We will definitely hire them again in the future. read more

This is my second time hiring LIBERTY PAINTING LLC, and they continue to impress. They handled a tricky ceiling drywall repair and paint job for us, and the results are flawless--the patch is completely invisible, and the texture matches the rest of the ceiling to a T. Beyond their top-tier craftsmanship, their crew is a pleasure to work with: always punctual, detail-oriented, and meticulous about cleaning up before they leave. It's hard to find contractors you can consistently trust, but Liberty Painting has earned my business for life. Highly recommended! Great value for money. read more
