Don't let the business name fool you, but Empire Pro Painters (EPP) does it all! Alex, Edwin, Miguel & Mingo spend almost 6 full days to refresh/tile a 1/2 bathroom and modify a closet so we can move our washer and dryer from the basement to 2F! I had about 5-6 quotes for the job although EPP wasn't the lowest, I had a good feel about Alex's responsiveness and willingness to consider solutions I proposed. At the end of the day it was a great deal. The speed and the quality says it all! Will definitely reach out to Alex for future work!

Recessed Lighting install - Edwin & team installed 8 lights on 2 separate switches including all finish work in less than 6 hours.

We've had Alex, Edwin, and the Empire Pro team do a few projects for us now, and all have been done quickly, professionally, and to the highest standards of quality. Most recently, we had them install 8 recessed lights on 2 separate circuits in our living room. Alex provided a competitive estimate quickly, and they did the work a week later, completing the project in half the time we expected. They installed 6 recessed 6" lights on one circuit, and 2 recessed 2" gimbal lights on a separate circuit, repairing and repainting all drywall work to perfection. They even went above and beyond in applying killz and repainting a separate area of our ceiling where there was some minor water staining. All in all, we couldn't be happier with the work they've performed, and would recommend them very highly.

Although Edwin is a kind and talented man, I believe his brother Alex wasn't happy with how long the job was taking and told him to speed things up. Alex had said it was a two day job but it was taking longer. What started out as great turned quickly into subpar quality. Alex had said the 'punch list' had to be done immediately after Edwin and Roberto finished. He said "he didn't want to drive back out there." They're in Burke and I am Alexandria? I was surprised by this because that is not how it is usually done. So I had to rush through this 'punch list' as Roberto is packing and taking everything to their van. He had to come back in to reapply paint that was taken to the truck. The paint hadn't even completely dried, for heaven's sake's! It was uncomfortable for me to point out mistakes/redos and that's why my husband was going to be there! We just weren't prepared for the punch list to happen while the paint was still wet. While I wasn't expecting wall/trim repair, I was expecting thorough painting, no harden paint on floors, sinks, rugs, fans, and countertops. Frustrating to say the least. Again, on the second day of work, Alex came by and then quality went down quickly!! Edwin, I believe, would have done the paint job expected if he was left alone with his talent. I've waited writing this review because I really believe Edwin is talented! His brother, who I believe runs the business, is just that, a businessman. For the cost of the job, it wasn't worth it. My husband and I are repainting areas and cleaning up the mess that was leftover. I should have asked about the punch list prior to hiring them. I've learned my lesson. Communication is key! I had anticipated getting new floors done, kitchen remodel and other projects as the renters left the home a disaster. I unfortunately will need to keep looking. And no, I am not the "first to complain" about your work. One year ago, Mr. Brian W. gave you just 1star. My review is the same as his Alex.

I put a bid on Home Depot (rookie mistake) and had 2 contractors say I needed a cap that could be installed for $900. That didn't seem thorough so I called evolution chimney. They had a young man and his partner came out and they went in the basement and to the roof and told me all the work I needed done. They had to add a new and wide liner, fix the deteriorating staccato, ensured that there was no chance of carbon monoxide and of course the cap. It was well worth the investment. The first appointment I had there was a scheduling mishap so the woman that took my call offered to deploy an emergency weekend team but I opted to reschedule for the next week. The work was done in a few hours. I was worried about squirrels still getting into the attic so I put a metal trap up there but nothing has been in the attic since and no water seems to be coming through the wall. Highly recommend.

He was able to show me examples of his work and give me a quote on the spot. After he knew I was going with his firm, things turned a bit sour. I wanted to chat about a few things so he told me to call at 5 o'clock the next day. I called at 5 o'clock the next day and he seemed a bit irritated. So I asked him if it was a good time to talk. He said well if you want to talk with a toddler around. He was quite curt. He told ME to call him AT 5! The next day I reminded him he told me that I should call at that time and he was still complaining about talking with his child around. If you do not have a baby sitter do not ask clients to call you. I thought he would apologize for his rudeness, he didn't. Instead, I believed I was apologizing. Nuts. Then, I realized I had to remove two medicine cabinets that would leave holes in the walls that would need drywall patches. I told him about that and he said it would be $50 each extra just to do the drywall patches. Fine. Then a couple weeks later he said well are those the kind of cabinets that are hung on the wall or leave a hole when removed. I said there are holes. He proceeded to tell me then that that would probably be more than $50. So, if there are nail holes in the wall it's $50, but if there is a drywall hole it's more? I do not understand that. Mind you, I have emails where he actually wrote "confirmed" on items/clarifications to make sure they were included in the contract. I knew to do that because of the way his contract was written. Apparently, his contract only goes one way, his way. He states specifically that his contract is the entire contract: "Exclusions--Anything not mentioned in scope." I had in the contract to paint the outdoor shutters and white dry lock on the exposed cinderblock walls in the "downstairs laundry room." He's talking to me on the phone the day before, obviously not reading his own contract, and he says the shutters were not included, but he says that's okay. I reminded him they were in the contract. The next day when he goes to start work, he tells me the entire basement is not included. Mind you, he agreed to use dry lock in the "downstairs laundry room." There is no exposed cinderblock in the home except in the laundry room in the basement. He told me he didn't have the basement in any of his notes or video and he asked me if I remember going down there with him. I said I didn't remember. I reminded him of the cinderblock dry lock paint and he said well I assumed that was in the ground level - - so he didn't refer to his video that would clearly not show any exposed cinderblock above ground level ? Mind you, the contract states "Prep and paint all walls, ceilings, trim, and doors throughout the home." Well, he asked for an additional $2800 more. When I said no, it's just getting too expensive for me he dropped it to $2500 more (the contract was already ~$11,000). Mind you, he contracted with me to do the entire home. He reneged on his contract. What was I going to do? Take him to court? I need my home painted and I don't want someone to be forced to paint and do a bad job. Not saying that he would do a bad job, but I also needed it done as soon as possible. At a minimum, he should've owned up to the error. Instead, he tried to put the blame on me because I did not go in the basement with him. Seriously? If he had owned up to the mistake and given me a much better price, I probably would've gone with him. Mind you, his crew was already there and he had started putting paper down in a few rooms. He probably lost more money taking his crew away and losing a day of scheduled painting. I am just very disappointed. I think he probably would do a beautiful job, but I can't go with someone who changes the price while at the job. Is it my responsibility to walk into every room with him to make sure he has every room in his notes and video?

Update: Apparently if you are critical and review CPC you will be called out as a coward, a…read moreschemer, and accused of racial bias by the owner. All because I was following the condo associations rules, especially since my wife is the president of the board, as mentioned. It's a bold strategy cotton, let's see if it pays off for him! He also fails to mention that his conversation with Crystal (a black woman since we're mentioning race) took place 3 days before the job was to be done (and almost 3 weeks after he told me he'd send over the COI). I also paid the deposit for the job and secured the date on May 4th (not the 19th as insinuated). All I have to say is that if you do business with Willie...good luck! I had hired Cabarello Painters twice before for my rental property, so they were my go-to hire to paint my condo before new tenants were moving in. I called up Willie (the owner) and scheduled about a month ahead of time as we had a tight timeframe between move out and move in. I paid the deposit to secure the slot. At the time of booking, I informed Willie that per my condo building's rules he had to sign a Certificate of Insurance (COI). This is required for all venders (plumbers, movers, contractors) that do work in the building as it is a high rise. No other contractors/vendors I have used had any issues providing the signed COI per the building's instructions. Willie initially pushed back on this, but after I confirmed the requirements with my Building Manager, he told me that he would "send it to me tomorrow." About two weeks later I had still not received the COI from Cabarello painters, so I followed up again with Willie, who told me he had sent it, and to ask the Building Manager to "check her spam folder." After confirming that the manager didn't receive anything, I asked Willie a 3rd time if he could provide the required COI. Instead of sending it over, he asked to speak directly to my Building Manager, so I provided the required contact information. After their conversation he called me back angrily stating, "They want me to cover everything to the left, right and above and below - F&%K that, man!" I later found out that he took a similar tone with my Building Manager as well. Three weeks after accepting the job, he told me that he would not be able to do it and he would refund the deposit. I now was left with only a few days to schedule new painters in the tight timeframe between move out and move in. If Willie had simply been honest up front and told me that he could not or did not want to do the job because of the insurance requirements for vendors, I would have understood and simply found another painter, which I ultimately had to do under extreme time pressure. Instead, I was lied to multiple times and treated very poorly, especially for a repeat customer. I was very disappointed that this happened because I had used Cabarello painters before at my rental property and was satisfied. Finally, to add insult to injury, my deposit was paid back to me after a month, instead of the 15 days that Willie had promised me on the phone and I was not refunded a "materials" fee, which he had never mentioned. Unfortunately, it seems to be Willie's MO - telling you one thing and then doing another. After hiring Cabarello Painters for multiple jobs in the past I will not hire them again.

He quoted me $1800 which I agreed to because I have never had wall paper installed and I assumed that's the going rate. It did not include prep or moving furniture. He asked me to have the contractor who was working on my basement complete the prep, which we did, but it was not good enough. After an aggressive discussion over the phone with Willie, I asked his wallpaper installers to leave and I went forward to hire a new company. I receive two quotes from two separate companies for prep, furniture moving, and install one for $400 and one for $650. Willies price was three times that. I advise you get three quotes before hiring Willies company and also be advised that he has quite the temper. I will just copy and paste the text from the owner of this business to me. It is outrageous and completely Unprofessional.
