Dan provided me with great information and honest recommendations for our new snow blower. He could have upsold me to a larger, more expensive one, but he was honest and kept me towards the lower-version Ariens 28 RapidTrak. I have the blower now, and it worked great over the last snowfall. When I went to visit, Dan also let me "test drive" the blower, so I could feel how the tracks worked, and how the auto-turn behaved. All worked wonderfully well, as expected... but, again, the key is that he let me run it, which was great. Dan also talked about various accessories, including the LED light which he sells online - he's supposedly the only seller for Ariens-branded LED lights on the blower... impressive. He also recommended the plastic sliders and showed me everything else I might want (I added the canopy, as he had a great deal on it). Bottom line, with the great sales and discussion, I wouldn't think of buying it anywhere else! River East setup the blower well, and had it ready to go when it was delivered. The delivery person also walked me through the basic operation (even though I knew it pretty well, as I've used Ariens for many years). Point is, he spent the time to answer any questions and provide extra tips as well. Overall, great service and sales... I highly recommend them!

Go here before the big boxes! The furniture is laid out by rooms, plus a few dish, art, and lighting sections, so it's pretty easy to find your furniture genre. Alas, the novelty kids bed was gone before I could inquire. The store has a facebook page if you want a head start in your browsing. The staff (or volunteers?) on site were kind. Overall, a good and green experience.

Laminate furniture appears to match prices you could get for new at Target, and it's dinged up here. But building supplies, drawer handles, sinks and other fixtures, and some appliances, as well as windows, doors, etc, are often priced well and can be the best match for someone looking for specific styles to match an older house, for example. I did find a very nice solid oak sofa table to refinish here last time, though, for only $50, so if you're here anyway for the affordable stuff, you might find a stray diamond in the rough.

Today, I bought a Makita KPO 800k planer, because I just can't find replacement blades for my Bosch 1632. The tool was marked $169, both on the tool and on the box, but it rang out at $185. I was told that the price, as marked, would not be honored. So, what's a guy to do? I took it because I needed the tool to finish a project. I was disappointed at the way the pricing difference was brushed off. It was a "take it, or leave it" scenario. Listen, the $14.00 is going to make me stop shopping here; afterall, I've been back numerous times since witnessing the cursing and swearing match between an employee and customer on President's day a year ago.

We worked with Marsha, one of Imperial's designers, to choose fabric to complement our kitchen pieces and vision for (hopeful) renovations when the time is right. Marsha worked patiently and cheerfully with us, even as I changed my mind after putting a down payment on the work. I didn't expect her to have us back in for another consult, but she did, saying she didn't want us to just live with our choice, but to love it! I am so thankful for her "going the extra mile," as one of the fabrics she suggested ended up being lovely and perfect! And the finished product is amazing, with impeccable craftsmanship (I saw another reviewer used this very apt term, and had to repeat it!). This is the second job we have had done at Imperial. You can be sure you will receive the best of customer service and finished product! Joe and his team all go the extra mile to provide courteous, generous, and outstanding customer service and work. Upon entry, I was greeted with warmth. My consultation with Joe was so great, I canceled my other appointment immediately. Fast forward to a few short weeks, my beautiful green sofa was delivered and I fell in love with it. Joe was meticulous about everything...the fabric selection, the nailheads and the cushions' firmness for my petite frame. Everything! I love that Joe was respectful of my budget. I wanted to re-do my kitchen so I went to The Home Show in Hartford a few months ago and connected…read morewith a few contractors. I did some research on review sites and had 1 come to my house for a consultation and estimate. We liked him and his work - but I also decided to drop into Granite & Kitchen Studio, LLC in South Windsor as they are around the corner from my house. I looked in their showroom, spoke with Devon and arranged for Ahmed to come give us a consult and estimate. The moment Ahmed started measuring, commenting and suggesting - I knew he was who I wanted to work with. BUT, I also sensed he'd be very expensive based on his approach to the project and others we spoke with. Guess what - a few days later when I got his estimate it was only slightly higher than the other, and if apples-to-apples on material was used he might be the same. I was psyched because it was within our budget, and I REALLY wanted to work with Ahmed and his Team. Snooping around his office at contract signing I noticed not 1, but 2 MBA's from UCONN - Engineering and Business, and he's an architect by trade....no wonder I thought he was such a quality partner! The experience was amazing from start to finish! On time, (started 1 day late due to Noreaster, but finished on time), within budget and the various artisans / craftsman that did the work were all excellent. I mean EXCELLENT. The demo guys (also painted, did tile, electric and trim work), Cabinet installer, Granite installers and Back-splash tilers were all amazing. They ALL showed up on time, did their work, were neat, clean and very pleasant and professional. Ahmed periodically stopped by to manage the project and other than 1 stressful morning when 3 contractors had challenges, all at once, it was smooth sailing and a super pleasant experience. I liked that Granite & Kitchen Studio has their own granite in their yard to pick from, has all the material and samples on site and has a retail showroom with knowledgeable staff to help. NOT the case with the other firm that came and would send me to Windsor to select my granite, and it would be cut elsewhere. I can't praise these folks enough for how they run their business and the quality of the work done by them and their sub-contractors.
