I needed a can that I purchased a year ago and hadn't gotten around to using until now reshaken. They said no. Someone's can had leaked once so they have a blanket no rule. I don't believe cans just leak. Maybe they didn't check to see if the lid was secure. Maybe they didn't check the can's structural integrity. Whatever the reason, they won't shake a can once it goes out the door. My opinion, bad customer service. A good customer walked away rejected. I won't ever go back.

Well, either their computer system was not up to date or they had a busy morning because they were all out. I really don't understand how these paint stores can have no paint! The clerk upgraded me to the next level of quality (which would have been a bit more expensive) without charging for the upgrade, since they didn't have what I wanted to buy. Sherwin-Williams paint is expensive (paint is $$$ anyway these days); I only went with it because that was what my handyman said he uses. Glad I finally got the paint, but overall this was a frustrating shopping experience.

This is the only business unwilling to make any concession given these circumstances. As longtime (we're talking 3 generations!) The staff is far more knowledgeable and patient than the folks at the big-box stores. They are super friendly, and they really take the time to help you. They have high quality products at competitive prices. I love the fact that they carry zero-VOC paint. The big-box stores claim to have this, but if you read the labels, you'll find that it is really low-VOC paint. Not the same thing....still contains carcinogens. Another thing I like about Lloyd's is the fact that they keep a record of the paints you purchased and what room you were painting at the time. So when your kid draws on the walls or you accidentally ding the wall while moving furniture, you can just go back to Lloyd's, and they'll mix up a bucket of the same color. Three cheers for Lloyd's! My family has been visiting them my whole life, and we're never disappointed.

So I walked in expecting one thing...and left wondering why I hadn't shopped here years ago. The store was clean, organized, and packed with recognizable name brands at prices that honestly made me do a double take. Every aisle seemed to have another great find, and instead of feeling like I was on an episode of Storage Wars, I actually enjoyed browsing. The employees were genuinely friendly, smiled, and seemed happy to help. That alone sets Ollie's apart from a lot of retailers these days. And I have to give a shout-out to whoever curates the music. Instead of the usual elevator soundtrack that makes you wonder if time has stopped, it actually made shopping enjoyable. Then I found out they have a 30-day return policy. That completely caught me off guard. I honestly can't remember the last bargain or closeout store I visited that confidently said, "If it doesn't work out, bring it back." Great prices are one thing, but standing behind what you sell says a lot about a company. The biggest surprise wasn't how much money I saved--it was how much confidence I had shopping there. Ollie's doesn't feel like a place that's just trying to move leftover inventory. It feels like a company that genuinely wants customers to come back. Needless to say, they earned a new customer. I can already tell this won't be my last trip.
