Playground Golf & Sports Bar - Terrible service, only one bartender. Most of the time was spent waiting.

Wow, we've been missing out! We knew about the Playground but didn't really give it much thought…read morebefore today. We were interested in watching the Oregon Duck football game this afternoon and were looking for a place to watch the second half of the game while grabbing something to eat. My wife did a bit of searching and suggested the Playground. We mentioned this to our friend and neighbor and he had nothing but great things to say about the place. We arrived shortly after 5pm on Saturday evening, and had no trouble finding parking. We were immediately impressed. They have a nice outdoor patio and once we walked inside we could see this was not your typical "sports bar". In addition to the bar/counter area, there are tables throughout the main area near the stage and bar. They also have virtual games that allow people to play everything from Zombie Dodgeball to Baseball. We took a seat at the bar and asked if one of the TV's could be changed to the Oregon game. They were happy to accommodate us but we also appreciated that they checked with another couple they knew were interested in the games playing to ensure we each had at least one TV focused on the game of our choice. The young man who provided us menus was friendly and helpful. We also met the manager, Sam who gave us a bit more history on the place and we discovered we are both Penn State Alum, which was cool. I ordered an IPA on draft and saw for the first time a draft system that fills the cups from the bottom with a magnet filler system. Sam and I talked a bit about it and how it works, which we found really interesting. We looked over the food menu and were happy to see they had both Roman style pizza crust options and cauliflower crust options. My wife ordered the pesto pizza on cauliflower crust with no cheese. I ordered the meat lovers pizza on the roman crust with no ranch dressing. My wife visited the women's restroom and reported they were spotless and well equipped. She even made a comment to Sam that she really appreciated the level of attention that is clearly put into the place to keep it clean and well kept. Our pizzas were ready about the same time as the band arrived to begin setting up for a 7:30pm show. We were told the band was a county music group that was really good. We've since started following the Playground on Facebook to keep up with their music offerings. We opened our pizza boxes and both pies looked delicious! My wife oohed and awed over each bite of her pizza and managed to eat the whole thing. I was equally pleased with my pizza but only managed to eat half since it contains a lot more dough than the cauliflower crust, but that leaves me with leftovers, which I love. Overall, this was a great experience and we will absolutely be back! We are also excited that we've found our new place to watch College Football this year. A big shoutout to Sam and the people at the Playground. You've created something really special in our neighborhood.

Well Village Square tap house, it is a bar but it's a dang good place to hang out with friends. I…read morethink every weekend they have a live band either on Friday or Saturday night but we went to their Halloween party last week. LevelXperience was playing, which is an all-girls band and they were awesome! But they have two bars for service because they had recently bought the area beside them and now it's full of arcade games which are pretty fun as an adult after you've been drinking a bit. On one side they do have adult slushies. They have added more bathrooms and more pool tables, if you enter on the arcade side and they have a band you will need to pay an entrance fee. There's a local Dart group that competes each week and I know they have Super Bowl parties which includes food and prizes. The funny thing is, I asked the bartender on the arcade if they have Red Stripe, she said Yes, of course, it's been awhile since I've heard it called that!." Now she looked to be 24-28ish and bless her heart- she handed me a PBR. I looked at the bottle and was going to say something but hey, of course we all know PBR does have a red stripe in the label. But nonetheless, good prices and fun times. Plenty of people to sing along and dance with or play a round of pool. The Green Tea shots here are the best I've had anywhere. Plenty of parking and you are basically 10 feet away from the late night Taco Bell menu to help absorb the alcohol. If you're looking for a a quiet spot for a few minutes away from the music, they have an outdoor area to the right of the building, it is accessible without going inside first. You will have to show ID or your wristband at every entrance and the place is large enough to host a birthday party, a Friendsgiving get together or GNO, there's a hotel close by in case you go for their New Years Eve PARTY. A few of my friends and I actually had a hilarius Christmas photo shoot at VS Taphouse about 10 years ago. So good try a new cocktail for fall and get your pinball game on-Saturday and Sunday they open at 12 noon if you just want to take the kids to play a few old school arcade games.

Pool and darts offered however dart boards and darts were in very rough shape. Didnt get a chance to play pool so i cant comment on those conditions. Would i come back? Maybe.. but definitely wouldnt go out of my way to grab a beer here

Speaking of drinks theg are delicious! I went with friends for a groove lab music show and had a blast! Drinks were flowing, music was fun, parking was easy, all around good experience. The only thing I did not like was the weird bathroom.

The drinks are good and priced consistent with Winston-Salem. The inside is rather small but there is a patio/lounge area with a firepit. Most times I have been it was free to get in but when they have special DJ nights, entrance is usually $10. Glad there is somewhere to go downtown to dance to non-country music! you have to walk into the dance area to get to the restroom (just like Joyners) but the inside has a dark vibe with some tables that light up and the alcohol wall at the bar is a masterpiece. There are seats behind the DJ table and I'm not sure why that area isn't used; the whole building can probably hold 60 people dancing at the same time. But all-in-all, it's a lively place, and yes, it gets happening after midnight, as to be expected when there is a DJ in the house. Just walk to Euphoria after you see a show at Ramkat or Wise Man and dance till dawn! (not really but at least 2am)
