I called Sherrill Pumping to come out and pump and inspect our septic system after having a bad report from a home inspector. He looked around and dug a few holes (by hand), and said everything was in working order, gave us a report, and left without opening the tank or pumping it. He charged $225 for this "inspection". We lost the sale of our house because of it. We ended up having to call a second septic service, who actually found the tank (in a different place than Josh said it was) and opened it. It turns out we had roots causing water to back up into the main line (I have a video of it), and we were past due for a pump. The second service was able to pump it, remove the roots, and clearly mark and document everything for our future buyers. read more

I seldom leave negative reviews (most of my reviews are on TripAdvisor, not Yelp), and I always try to work with the provider first. Unfortunately, I sent multiple texts and never got a response. Our first experience was positive, they came out to pump the tank, and found out one of the lids was below our back porch. I was in the process of replacing porch boards, so I said I'd just pull up the boards and cut out the ones in the way. I have a physical handicap, and they appeared to be very helpful, taking my sawzall and cutting away boards, then they tacked on extra money at the end for their "help" doing what I could have done myself. If that was the only thing that went wrong, I'd be leaving four if not five stars, and I'm leaving two instead of one because if all we had done was the pumping, we'd be happy. I mentioned that I am planning to enclose the porch, and they said they could come back the following week and put an elevated lid on the back opening so it could be accessed from the outside of the porch. I was expecting a concrete tower with a lid that could be pulled via a pole from outside. He quoted me a price, including extra because he had to come out so far. Then my neighbor hired him to come back the same day to pump his tank, so you'd think the extra travel fee would be discounted. Wrong. Worse than that, I told him quite clearly I run a business meeting from 8am to 9am every morning, and he made the appointment for 9:30. He said he'd pump my neighbor's tank first. His assistant knocked on my door a few minutes after 8am, interrupting my meeting. My wife did them the courtesy of letting them in the back yard, and they installed a $200 plastic cover that requires someone to unscrew small phillips screws to remove - NO WAY that can be done from outside the deck, then they demanded a check and took off, all before 9am. My wife paid them, not knowing what was expected, and they took off, never to be heard from again, despite multiple texts. To top it all off, they left the original tank lid sitting under my deck, where it stinks up the porch and attracts flies, and as I mentioned earlier I have physical handicaps which prevent me from getting under the deck to remove it. So, in summary, they charged me $500 for a surface level cover than costs about $200 at Lowes, and if it could be removed from outside the porch as promised I'd still be ok with it given the labor, but it can't. So basically I'm out $500 and my tank STILL cannot be accessed from outside the deck as promised, so my money was spent in vain. And, I have a nice fly catcher stinking up my back deck. THANKS SHERRILL! If he had come at the appointed time, instead of pulling a fast one and getting my wife to pay him when he knew I was busy, I never would have accepted the job. If he'd had the decency to return my texts, hopefully we could have worked something out. Instead, he got an early start on his Friday and $500 of unearned money for a job that leaves me basically in the same position as I was before he did it, only then there wouldn't be a fly catcher under my deck. sherril came out. shot a good line, acted like he knew what he was doing. only pumped one half of tank. half way job. 3months later, same slow flow problem. charged 350. max 1 hour. did not have a receipt. sherril is a waste of money. now finding someone to do a complete job. read more

Called Sherill to have my tank pumped. He was in the area and showed up in a half hour. He dug out the tank whic was 18" down and asked if I wanted to put an extension or put a sleeve into the cover which would make it easier and wouldnt have to disturb the ground each time it was pumped. I asked him the price, it was going to be 65$ I said ok. he then asked if I could run to the hardware store to pick up a 2' piece oc pvc. So I ran down to the store, I wasnt going to buy a 10' for a 2' needed piece. When i returned, I asked him if you are going to offer a service. to carry some material with him. He stated He did not know I wanted to have it done. It Seems he is just starting out, he is a hard worker aim to please. He offered to take 50$ off the bil, But I paid him wjat was asked in the beginning. Just be aware, and question him before he starts if he offers ay service besides pumping the tank. read more
